An interesting take on a classic arkanoid. The brick destruction sound was one of the best sounds I heard in a while, very enjoyable. On the other hand the paddle hit sound was the opposite of that :D But overall the feel was good. A job well done I would say!
It looks nice and the audio is good, but the game itself feels a little... uh...basic? I'm not the expert of that. Everything runs smoothly, and the little monsters look cool :)
A really polished and good take on this classic game : I especially like the audio : the music contributed to create a very particular mood and the block breaking effect is really satisfying, it alone differenciates this game from the classic arkanoid it was inspired by.
You didn't put it into your ratings but the art and especially the background is really pretty and gives a unique atmosphere combined with the gameplay.
Unfortunately I'm getting the same issue with the web version (also on Chrome/Macbook). The downloaded version worked for me, however. I love a breakout game, so I enjoyed my playthrough. The mouse controls felt a little unresponsive for some reason, but the keyboard controls were fine. I thought the sounds were also slightly off-sync (the paddle sound triggered a little early compared to the actual bounce of the ball), but maybe I'm just overthinking the sounds! Good job!
Cool reverse breakout + space invaders, love the idea, I'm on 3rd place but i'll try more some other time :)
The sound design was quite good. I feel the game could have been a bit more innovative however. Overall well done, the game runs well.
@timendus & @cjol We noticed that the webgl didn't work on Itch on several browsers. We had to make a development build and it should work fine now.
@labete
Haha Thanks, those 'monsters' are actually one of the few things we made ourself, most of the other art is from other (free) resources, therefore we opted out on Graphics.
Sadly our artist let us know 1 day before LudumDare started that he couldn't made it because other commitments.
Cool spin on a classic formula! Really liked the different types of collectable upgrades, and different enemies (that also harken back to other classic titles) that would make their way into the scene. Also having a high score section is really cool, and not something you see often in jams. The music was also very nice and really helped add to the overall mood. My only real issue is that the web version had some real framerate issues for me from time to time, which resulted in a sort of occasional slide-show. All in all, nice job!
It's working here with M1 Macbook/Chrome. Good stuff! Even though it's simple I felt like it had a level of polish uncharacteristic for a game jam game (highscores and dat level transition.) Couple of points: 1) Is it possible to have the mouse lock into the game when you click in? I lost a couple of balls because the game lost my inputs when my mouse left the area that the game was in. 2) I felt a bit cheated when I lost because my original ball died when I had a white ball flying towards me to catch. Although that is mostly user error.
Really liked this spinon brick breaker! music was great, just so chill! really nice job!
decent arkanoid clone, I agree with some of the others here that that paddle hit sound is REALLY grating, the input seemed to lag just a little bit too when using mouse.
Simple but fun game this! Relaxed music in the background, and different upgrades to obtain to make things more interesting.
@ropedog Thanks for the kind words! Can you please,try clicking on the fullscreen toggle,when on the webgl version. Unity Webgl is seriously flawed but we noticed that going to fullscreen smooths things out most of the time.
@drgrognak You can try going to fullscreen (there is a toggle on the menu), this should fix the issue on webgl where moving outside the applet loses control.
@raptor851 Am i correct this is also experienced on webgl, non fullscreen ? try toggling to fullscreen.
@nabo369 Thanks, i make sure to let our musician know, we also dig the music a lot and are very happy with it!
I really liked playing this, and I think I'll come back to it. Simple, but so well executed. Feels really smooth, clearly a lot of time went into polish and details. The music was awesome, too. I forgot how rewarding Breakout becomes when you hit multiple things :laughing: And the Space Invaders element was a lot of fun, too. Very well done!
I enjoyed the game! Couldn't beat Honest Dan's score, but still got pretty high on the table! ^^ The only real complaint is stretching on wider displays. Check my screenshot.

@udo Thanks!
@civmaniac Yeh, it seems on webgl,when going to fullscreen, it doesn't keep the ratio we've set it. On the downloaded version it should keep the ratio. Always something with Unity Webgl :)
Arcanoids are not my thing, but good game, had some fun :
Woa, long time since I saw an Breakout game in the Ludum !
Liked it, it's quite simple and "classical", but it's well done and works very well. You have a full gameplay loop, graphics, music and sounds so very nice work reaching this point in 72h overall. Big bravo to you guys !
Simple game, but very polished. The soundtrack and SFX are on point, and small details like how the ball goes back to the paddle at the end of each level, or the level select screen after the first try make it very relaxing and ejoyable. If I gotta be honest I expected just a bit more, perharps something like the space invaders to shoot at you! Great work though!
Very polished, and fun! I love the chill atmosphere. My embarrassing score: 4500.
Awesome!
Game stays fairly easy till the end. I lost only one live very early because I did not pay attention enough :D

Nice mashup of the originals. I feel like it just needs to be a bit faster and to get into the mix of elements sooner.
@ausstein Awesome score! Yeh what seems hard for one person is too easy for another. It's hard to get the difficulty right in a game, specially in a jam.
First we wanted to make 50 levels, soon enough we found out 20 was enough. Now, i think 10 levels would be enough for the content we had.
For a jamgame, shortbursts of fun and surprise is the best i think. Lesson learned for next LD :)
Nice submission! I liked the idea but maybe it should be shorter, or at least the latest mechanics should appear sooner.
Damn this game was fun and that music like holy crap was the music good the gameplay could have been awful and i would have continued playing only cause of the music but the gameplay is actually good so yeah. Amazing game
@kotzi Thanks for playing, and indeed, introducing new mechanics sooner would have been a better call for gamejams. I agree.
@jim-jagers Thanks for the kinds words,i'll make sure our musician knows ;)
Flipping this genre of game upside down was an interesting take on theme, but I felt like this perspective didn't affect the game in a meaningful way. Maybe it would be cool to have the ball have some gravity in this version, and then you had to press space to pull it up? There was a nice level of polish though; I liked how you could start from any levels you have already beaten. The leaderboard was a nice touch as well, but it would be nice if it would display your highscore seperately, or at least highlight on the leaderboard to make it easier to find. Also, the red light over the red text at the bottom of the screen was a little hard to read/notice (the Toggle Fullscreen and Back buttons).
@dans17 Thanks for the feedback. The text is indeed sometimes a bit hard to read. Having your own personal score at the highscore screen would be a nice touch indeed. We do have your personal best showing during gameplay as alternative.
A lot of good points, but sadly you know how it is, a lot of ideas get sacrificed because of time restrains.
haha that's very fun
Fun and simple to play, even though it's not the genre of game I'm used to play. Since its a score game, would be nice to see the highscore from other people.
@wizard-sino Thanks :)
@villanelle You can see the highscores from other people on the leaderboards. But i guess you mean during gameplay, where it shows your personal highscore, you want to see the highest totalscore ? That would be cool i guess, see your target score.
Congratulations on the game, you made the combination of two classics in one game, created a good job, and a fun mechanic, I hope to see this game evolving and gaining new upgrades, which will soon reap good fruits, a super hug to the team, and I await feedbacks in my game I am grateful.
Good job on the lighting effect. It has a good audio too. The main menu texts are a bit blurry.
@roidz...
As soon as possible I will make my analysis. :)

@sentmoraap @sentmoraap Thanks :)
@gustavo-christino Thank you!, i enjoyed watching you playing our game.
**Analysis...**
1 - Mechanics, Learning and Flow: The main mechanics are to keep the ball in play (without letting it cross the "bottom line", while it bounces off reaching elements that are (little by little) broken. There are still elements with different interaction, and there are also mobile elements with images derived from the art of Space Invaders, further increasing the degree of identification with the game scenario. Learning how to play is not very difficult, the difficult thing is to become really good (and put your name on the table of best scores). The game has a good flow too, it ends up challenging more and more (how far I managed to get).
2 - Graphics, Audio and Narrative: The background art has a little to do with the art of interactive elements in the sense of the playable part. The music didn't seem to match the game much, but the sound effects played their role very well. I don't think the narrative was focused on this project (and that's okay).
3 - Culture: The game explores the ability to generate identification by adding elements of Arkanoid and Space Invaders. In addition it ends up bringing people together through the use of a table of better scores.
4 - Monetization: I believe that if there is a harmonization between the artistic elements and the mechanical elements, this game could be sold for smartphones (with advertisements, and the possibility of acquiring new chances to play). In addition, I suppose that a system for the team to create new stages can serve to keep the game's lifespan longer.
Thanks, @roidz.
Clean take on the genre, with some nice unique touches.
Color coding the ball power to the brick color was a nice touch - of the unique elements the portals stood out as the most interesting.
Not reached the end yet - will come back and play more!
I didn't get far because I'm just not a huge fan of Arkanoid. That said, I did enjoy the few extra mechanics I saw, such as the space invaders. The music was pretty creepy, ha! Nice work on the game!
[Thanks for submitting your game to the stream!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1015053228?t=01h13m42s)
I don't think I ever experienced more suffering and loss than I did during that "To Be Continued..." :sob:
As I mentioned in the VOD, I'm a big fan of this one. :slight_smile: I could easily see myself killing a bunch of time on this, if given the opportunity. A classic simple premise polished to a T, very nicely done!!
Wow, really great vibe here! The art looks fantastic, the sound is strong, and the music is outstanding. It all really came together nicely into an impressively-polished entry. Gameplay-wise I enjoyed the various upgrades and the space invaders were a nice touch.
Nice job!
A simple and fun game. I liked the idea of the blocks being below to fit the Game Jam theme. Congratulations to the developers.
