LD45 — Start with nothing

Go Away Nothing by Nnnnneeeedddd 2019-10-07T01:04:07Z

Despite being unfinished, I really like the atmosphere of the game. The music is very relaxing and fits so well with the graphics and environment of the game. Would have been really cool to see this properly realized :P

Word Wielder by frankitox16 2019-10-07T23:23:43Z

This game is actually pretty fun and the funny line when you spell out the hidden word was a really nice slice of humor. I love the idea of this and it would be interesting to see how that concept could be extended to further words perhaps? I'm not sure. But it is definitely an innovative idea. At the beginning of the game, it felt like it was hard for me to grasp a strategy on how to stay alive. But on my second retry I started to realize an efficient order for the abilities and was coasting quite well, and this made the game even more fun for me. Great submission :)

Build Or Die by pkenney 2019-10-26T20:48:33Z

This is a pretty brilliant game. I think it could have been epic if there was music and SFX, but it's clear time was spent in making some really strong gameplay mechanics. It did take me a while to get used to the actual mechanics, and the lack of a minimap was a bit confusing. But this was a really good job especially for a compo

Life with Words by Chaosinism 2019-10-07T23:34:34Z

The mechanics, sound, graphics and mood of the game are brilliant. Although I'm absolute hog wash at word games so my fun is naturally dragged down unfortunately, I think the execution was really cool. Well done.

Star Battle by microwerx 2019-10-26T21:06:56Z

This was a pretty interesting game, the retro style graphics and space-y soundtrack were cool, though it was a bit confusing to figure out what I was doing. The help underneath the game helped with that. It seems doing well in the game is quite difficult, but well done with this

private void Start() by LuckyFeathers 2019-10-08T12:27:06Z

I absolutely love this game. I already liked typing games but this is a really cool example of one. I don't even have any constructive feedback. This game is just really cute and very well polished. Nice job! I also really liked the nice touches with the typing noises.

Hubcap Pup by Terribly Awesome Games 2019-10-26T20:58:47Z

Well done with the atmosphere. This was cool, and unfortunately short :(

ColorBound by Youkool 2019-10-08T13:47:46Z

Wow, this is an extremely well polished game. Great art and animations, and everything feels so fluid. I love how the music develops over time as well. Just great touches everywhere. Every time I hit a color beacon I was so excited to see what new ability I would get next. I would say if there was a color unlockable more early on which made it clear where the ground is, that would have been nice as that is a bit disorienting. The actual background that reveals itself overtime helps with that respect so it's not a huge problem. A minimap could have also helped potentially. Great job guys :)

Sheep Keep by zubspace 2019-10-07T23:05:01Z

I really like the idea and the tactical element of pushing all your characters into a corner to form a group is a cool gameplay feature that the player figures out by themselves. Oh and the art is really cute by the way! Perhaps some small varieties in the music, and turning down some of the volumes of the SFX would add good finishing touches. Being able to attack downwards or towards the mouse pointer would be cool as well. Nice submission.

In the Beginning by shadow30 2019-10-07T23:45:36Z

Really cool, I thought the gameplay is quite sophisticated due to how much prediction you have to do to succeed. A really nice arcade game with good music to boot. Would have been cool to have some sound effects, and some way for there to be less reliance on the projectile-enemy distance prediction side of the game, not sure how you might do that. Maybe some type of missile that allows you to detonate manually? Thanks for this great submission

From Rags to Riches by ToC 2019-10-08T08:46:50Z

This game is nice, the art and the world are really cool and the idea is really charming. Starting off from a humble beginning felt great. There's some issues with pacing in my opinion, after completing bandit camp the game gets a bit slower. I felt like it would probably take an hour to reach the shrine guardian and there's not many things that are extra engaging that are keeping me there. For example, sound effects and music would make a world of difference and made the experience even more fun and will have also given more mood to the game and kept me more immersed. Perhaps some more interactive elements with the combat would have helped as well, so that there's more input from the user than just healing the characters. Well done with this entry

Knight Dash by sam.awk 2019-10-07T01:28:32Z

The graphics for this are good. Some small changes to the music would work well, and some quality of life improvements such as an extended attack range or being able to punch while moving would be great. Well done for your compo submission.

Robo-Fort by geoff.nagy 2019-10-07T01:14:11Z

The graphics are incredibly good! The sound effects fit well and the core idea of the game is strong. Small changes in the music, perhaps like phases, where if robots are coming the music changes up a bit, would make a world of difference, especially as it is a little repetitive. Some kind of mechanic to make the box sticky to the robot could be a nice quality of life feature. Great submission!

Our Last Chance by Rollersteaam 2019-10-07T01:33:02Z

Thank you! :D I really wanted to do some cool things with the background, like some kind of parallax or just anything to make it not basically static but time got pressed :(

Our Last Chance by Rollersteaam 2019-10-08T08:13:49Z

@jimbly Thanks! And wow it seems I forgot to delete some debug messages... :joy: This is very strange, none of my tests ran into null references, I thought I patched that like 30 minutes before submission. Unfortunately due to the game being compiled for WebAssembly thanks to Unity's WebGL module the error message isn't that useful as file names and line numbers are gone :(, all I can see is that it's in reaction to you winning and was after retrying a few times. But this is good to know, it would be somewhere to start for me.

@pleyad The grid suggestion sounds really good, thank you. Will need to think of that trick for my next games hackathon if I run into orientation issues again.

@finnthepirate That would also definitely be a really good touch, it did feel like I was missing something when I ""finished"" making my weapons. Those will definitely be another trick to consider using in my next game.
