HELIRESCUE MENS by voxel 2017-12-10T15:45:21Z

That's a pretty fun game for only spending 2 hours on it :) Its simple enough to understand right away, but challenging enough to make it fun. One thing you might consider changing is how you can slide along the edges of the level without exploding. I could use that to stabilize the helicopter and sometimes get to difficult parts of the level reliably/easily. Though maybe that's a crutch that you need sometimes because otherwise some levels may be super difficult :P. Also maybe you should consider adding controller support (if it isn't there already). The gradual input of an analog stick would feel nicer than the hard wasd keys (no more key tapping to make gradual adjustments).

Great job though! Fun and unique.

Orbits by tuism 2017-12-12T05:32:24Z

This game is beautiful! And unique concept as well! I love the streaks that follow the planets and the facial expressions of the center planet. Great attention to graphics all around. This game is very easy to pick up and understand from the start as well as being fun to play. The only thing that I left desiring was a little more space to move around in, and when you had the planet on the edge of the circular boundary, it felt like a kind of "sticky" collision. I had to back off of the boundary before being able to move freely again. It would be nice if it slid along the edges a little better.

Love it though! Absolutely great submission!

Boiler Room Defense by cerno-b 2017-12-06T05:20:51Z

Just got around to playing this tonight. At first I loved the powerup that shot every direction because it seemed to kill everything. Then near the end I trapped myself in a wall of ice and that's when it hit me that random ice shards everywhere probably wasn't the best thing XD I did a bit better the next couple rounds as I tried to aim more efficiently and not stack up the ice on the edges. Overall this game feels like a great arcade game. I can see people trying to beat the high score and brag to their friends. The graphics were great and went with the sound to set that arcade-like mood.

The gameplay was fun and interesting as well. I'm curious how much time you allotted for playtesting because that's something I may have wanted to put more time into for my game. It seems like having a good difficulty ramp is an important part of these never ending games (you don't want the ice to decay so fast that you last forever or alternatively have the ice grow so fast you get soul-crushingly beaten every round). I think you managed to find the perfect spot where you play the round just the right amount of time with the right level of difficulty to make it interesting.

Also big props for having a scoreboard! If/when I do another game I should try my hand at including one.

Edit: Yessss High score! :D

Coins and Bullets by Genpaku 2017-12-05T14:11:48Z

Nice job :) One thing I'll say is (at least for me) using a/d to turn the character in top-down games always feels a bit awkward. It feels a bit more natural if the mouse determines which way the character is facing instead. The arrow key way is much better for the first person mode though. It did turn a little fast but other than that, seems good man! Keep up the work!

Apocalypse Corp by Chipmonkey 2017-12-05T17:29:33Z

Apocalypse Corp by Chipmonkey 2017-12-06T04:36:03Z

Loving the feedback so far! I'm getting a bunch of good ideas from everyone. I look forward to working on this more and making it better. Thanks to all who have responded! :)

The Adventures of Marty Graw by Samusoidal 2017-12-10T15:32:10Z

The music really set the mood well. It made me feel like the adventurer was pretty bad ass (even without the Indiana Jones inspiration). Also, your game very well could have been named Morty Graw, as the main character reminds me of Morty from Rick and Morty XD. Stellar job on the art too. Maybe next steps for the game would be to add more obstacles to maybe jump over or slide under.

Money Laundering Simulator by candlesan 2017-12-09T11:55:09Z

This game is very unique! I like it. I can always appreciate it when someone makes a strategy game as there has to be a focus on good balance and decision making. It seems like you hit the nail on the head there. There's also a good bit of replayability, as I was playing games over and over to try to do better and get on the scoreboard (nice addition!) My only complaint would be that the game didn't quite hit the theme in my eyes. I always felt safe if the heat was 10 or below, so in that sense, it was more of a hard cutoff of "making it worse" than the more you have the worse it gets.

Infectious Void by Odrez 2017-12-04T23:38:30Z

Cool game! Adding controller support was nice :)

Art was awesome. I loved the shadows/light that would erupt everywhere and the mood set by the game was great. As far as the gameplay goes, I get the idea that taking potions made you more shadow-ey, but I wasn't sure how to tell when I was about to die by the shadoweyness. I drank the first potion and flipped the switch after and (I assume?) what happened was that I was consumed by darkness and died. I didn't really have a gauge on how far along the darkness had consumed me (only kind of dead? Half dead? zomg I'm on the brink of sadness dead?). Additionally the spikes were kind of hard to see. I was having trouble finding the safe area between the spikes after they retracted.

Those were the only complaints though! Great job! :D

WeedControl by Marc Grabow 2017-12-05T00:07:53Z

You have an addicting little game on your hands here :) Music/art style fit the game well for a nice farming simulator. Some things I'll say though is clicking through the menus felt a bit cumbersome. Maybe having hot keys when you reach a chest to select the correct tool would work instead of having to use the mouse. Or... actually now that I think about it, they could all have different locations that you can walk up to. The main issue was I'd go to the box, and the screen would pop up and I'd have to take a second or two to realize where the thing I wanted was. I feel like that would be easier if the location was always on the screen so I could learn where the item was faster (rather than remembering where it was in the menu). Additionally (maybe you've already found this out by now) I would occasionally get some tiles into a weird state where I had planted the seeds but then I needed to rake it again. I would have to just start that tile over in that case (Not totally sure what caused it to mess up)

Great game though! Very fun :D

Chicken Tender by misterstripey 2017-12-06T01:32:24Z

Hilarious. The little "grumble grumble" noise made me laugh XD. Also it was hard not to laugh at the thought of someone trying to make the perfect poop noise over their microphone :P "Hmmm that's not right let me just... PTTTFFF. No no... too much umph at the end. Needs to be juicier..." LOL.

Maybe that's not how it went down but I enjoyed the humor immensely. The characters were great, the dialogue was great, and yes, so were the sound effects. The gameplay was quite fun as well. However, I wasn't exactly motivated to build up all that much. I knew I needed the 500 coins to win, and so I just stuck to around 5 chickens because that was pretty manageable. If there was an incentive to grow your coop (maybe have some automation to make things easier?) that would probably motivate me to try and make things faster. Additionally, the people popping up in front of the toolbar was clever the first time, but later on, I was tempted just to click through the dialogue as quick as possible so I could keep managing the chickens. The dialogue itself was great, but hindering the player progress by the placement was less fun than if it were off to the side in my opinion.

Overall, I enjoyed it a lot! Great job!

A Social Life by Owen Davies 2017-12-10T16:30:59Z

The pixel art/music was good, but as far as the gameplay... :P

rockgod.png

I am rock god!

Looks good for a first pass at unity! It did seem I was able to get up the hill still with a large amount of rocks (I think that image had me carrying ~100 rocks). I had to get lucky though as if rocks hit me while I was trying to climb up they would push me back down.

Hope you keep with unity! (thats the main engine I've become familiar with)

OverPowered! by Sir Mr Dr Prof Sr Jr PhD 2017-12-06T00:30:51Z

Super unique. Super fun. Hits the theme perfectly. Awesome all around. I hate those yellow guys though. The strategy I had was to hide in the bottom corners and only shoot left and right with a slight upward angle (hoping that bullets would bounce back and forth between the left and right walls without coming back down to hit me before they disappeared). It worked... kind of. That one stray bullet that bounced the extra times always got me!

I did forget what bullets did what during the game at first (specifically wasnt sure what green did). A few rounds and it became more familiar, but maybe some kind of indication in game showing what effect you received would be useful. Like flash "+1 bounce" above the player's head in yellow when they collect a yellow powerup. Something like that.

Amazing work though! Down to the art on the how to play screen and achievements were a great touch!

OverPowered! by Sir Mr Dr Prof Sr Jr PhD 2017-12-06T00:59:19Z

It wasn't really all that effective no :P I thought it would be, but yeah the enemies would pile up outside. I was hoping that I could hit the stragglers still inside the zone but a stray bullet would always get to me before I could make any progress with that. Seems to be balanced well against my (admittedly cheap) strategy ;)

PHOTOPSIA. by Simon Stalhandske 2017-12-06T00:04:15Z

Beautiful job! Music and audio in general was top notch. I really liked the way that when you took a picture, the photo would jump off the screen and make way for the next shot. The animations also looked super natural, even with the simple art style of the characters. The little bouncing effects that you made really made it seem like the creatures had life to them. The alien mood was really set well with the music as well.

Really the only thing I can think to critique is that it didn't quite hit the theme in my eyes. Other than that, it was a neat start! It made me want to learn more about where the alien came from and why he is there.

Smack`Em! by mess110 2017-12-04T23:48:14Z

Is it bad if the thing that made me laugh the most was not the awesome and goofy graphics (perfect for the mood of the game btw) but instead the fact that you played "cant touch this" at the beginning and the end of the round? Lol! nice touch :)

Glutonny by Crock 2017-12-09T11:18:48Z

Great job for a first entry! I myself just submitted an entry for the first time so I enjoy seeing games by other first timers. The music was pretty catchy :) I still have it repeating in my head as I type this lol. As far as the gameplay goes, I had an issue where sometimes I would be moving faster than other times (not related to the size of the dot). Like I would be moving fairly slowly, then I'd eat one more dot and all of a sudden I was going faster until I stopped.

Hope you keep with it!

Snowballing Out of Control! by Shipshape Detour 2017-12-10T16:04:48Z

Great job! I very much enjoyed this one. The art style was pleasing to the eyes and the random generation gave the game replayability. When I first started, I was trying to get the snowball as large as possible, but after finishing the run I was told I should go faster next time. Maybe something at the beginning explaining the goal is to get there quickly would be useful. It took me a couple runs also to discover that the grass made me smaller (thus giving me an advantage) and I also think that would be nice to have explained. Additionally, I wasn't sure about the function of the ice/water. I thought the water would kill me if I went over it or the ice would be slippery, but it seemed like I could move normally over those tiles. All of those issues can be fixed with a simple tutorial at the beginning or just some text that pops up before the run though. In the end, the gameplay was pretty fun once I understood the rules.

LD40 - SirPumpy by SirPumpy 2017-12-04T23:20:06Z

Wow! That was neat! Blown away by the art :) The reflecting ground and that feeling you get when you just pull up in time was really cool. The only thing I'd say is when I was shooting the enemies I really wanted them to blow up. It felt like I wasn't making progress and I wasn't exactly sure why my score was going up. I know it had to do with hitting the enemies, but like previous people have said, it would be nice to have that feedback.

Stellar work though!

Squire! Where's My Sword?! by Magnega 2017-12-06T00:13:35Z

One of the coolest games I've seen so far in terms of gameplay and creativity. Unique and fun! The art is pretty cool too. Overall you did a great job. Hard to find things to critique really.

Greedy Merchants by jlreymendez 2017-12-10T16:21:17Z

Cool game! My most successful strategy was really just avoiding coins altogether and just trying to destroy other ships. Kind of counter-intuitive, but after getting completely owned by the AI when I tried to collect as many coins as possible, it seemed to make sense to try the opposite strategy. Nice art/music and everything!

Don't Grow Ego by Sherwood 2017-12-06T00:57:15Z

Just played the itch.io version and it seemed to work for me. Really clever idea. I wish there were more responses, as they seemed to cycle around a bit frequently, but I liked the graphics and the music was nice and relaxing. Great job!
