LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Virus Eater Peter by Nathan 2017-12-07T21:32:35Z

Super cool concept. I like that I am on the same team as these white bloodcells and you managed to get a lot of stuff into the game. On the other hand I feel like the art, audio and feel of the game didn't quite come together. The controls could have been a bit more tight and I really wanna know what left click is for.

Slum Lord by Josh Ayres 2017-12-07T21:37:37Z

I tried it five times but failed to get anything to happen. I read the instructions on itch but didn't have any luck. Thought I would let you know so you can improve on usability next time :) Placing the instructions on screen would probably also have helped a great deal.

Cool Hat Mr. Hat by bitslap 2017-12-27T21:25:17Z

ok, so this was definitely the best LD game I played this time around (so far, and I've played a few). Other than the game being well made and polished and all that, it also had me playing for a long time. Partly because main mechanic was fun and felt good, partly because I kept discovering new intricacies in the gameplay, but I think the most important thing was that it was very hard to lose. I tend to stop playing games when I lose a couple of times, but having the Sonic-esque health, where you just have to wear a hat to survive, worked really well in keeping me playing for a long time. Really awesome. Another cool thing was that I felt I got better with time. A jam game where I feel like I'm making meaningful progression of skill is super rare in my experience.

Didn't like the floaty air controls though. Only complaint.

You Gotta Land Now by jalict 2017-12-05T21:00:02Z

Oh no, that was quite interesting but over really quick. Except for the limited content, I think the game could potentially be solid with more content. Points for potential and the nice art :) BTW got 4 out of 5 planes landed, so I'm not quite as good as @simokelo up there

Rude Bear Rabble by alexrose 2017-12-28T16:12:22Z

Hi there. Super nice experiment. Making an online multiplayer game in such a short time is a super big accomplishment. I got to play it a bit with a couple other people that joined and I think we were all on the same team as all of us mostly tried to complete the puzzles, which was good. I'd be super interested in seeing how players interact when there are players on both teams. Wish I could have given that a try.

I see a lot of suggestions in the comment and, yeah, there's a lot of things you could add and ways you could go with this game, but seeing as it's online multiplayer, I'm super impressed.

Mushroom Délicieux by TRASEVOL_DOG 2017-12-27T20:52:16Z

You know I love the stuff you do. Your graphics are super charming and all your games are really juicy and feel good to play and all of that is also true for this little gem ^^ However, I felt like the screen was a bit hard to read. I think there was too much stuff going on for me to understand what was happening. I understood the game perfectly - loved the tutorial - but it was just information overload when I started playing for real.

Project Vamparty by maybe 2017-12-05T22:19:24Z

Nice game. The graphics look real nice and the music really adds to the atmosphere. Was missing some sound effects on the core mechanic but otherwise it felt super nice to bite people, and controller support was very appreciated.

Protofusion by christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2017-12-27T20:33:37Z

Really nice graphics and animations. The style is very appealing (∩^o^)⊃━☆゚.*・。゚

The game itself is rather safe, but well made.

Infinite Desktop Icons by law5guy 2017-12-05T22:47:51Z

Simple idea and funny. The scope is very small, I feel like there could be a bit more gameplay. Am I supposed to just stack everything on top of each other? In that case the game becomes trivial super quickly. Always feels good to earn a lot of money tho so meh.

Super Slaughter Dungeon by NNNIKKI 2017-12-07T21:22:24Z

I'm impressed by the amount of stuff you managed to get in this game in so little time :) I'll give you a bit of critical feedback. I felt like I had to stay in the bottom of the screen all the time in order to kill the monsters. Also there were a lot of stats in the corner but I didn't really feel like they mattered a lot to the way I was playing (my weapon did change etc. I noticed that). Not a huge fan of the music.

Goblins 2 Go by SFBTom 2017-12-27T21:04:15Z

Such a lovely cute game. Super juicy, I adore the pouring mechanic, which is super well made. Music and sounds are cute as heck. Loved experimenting with the different potion options and getting the customers super bitter. Had a hard time actually doing well at the game but that didn't matter for the experience.

PHOTOPSIA. by Simon Stalhandske 2017-12-17T12:47:59Z

@terryg Wow awesome that you did a stream of the game. Unfortunately you missed that it's possible to control the direction of the camera. My bad. Glad you liked it anyway ( ̄∇ ̄)

KRANKSWONK by Remzo 2017-12-05T21:14:22Z

Nice graphics, feel and atmosphere in the game, but I could use some more indication (sound and otherwise) when stuff breaks or when a nob needs adjustment. Like, there are some sounds but thinking about it now I don't really know what that sound came from. But it's kinda fun to see how long you can keep the machine going. I got like 90-something seconds.

I swear; it's not blood from the eyes. by DantesGearbox 2017-12-05T20:51:18Z

The idea is really funny but unfortunately it's not that well communicated and more fun on paper than to actually play. Luckily the game is really juicy and feels good for the first couple of seconds ^^

Milk Hunt by Weizengaming 2017-12-07T21:48:54Z

I wouldn't say that it's a fun game but perhaps it's a game that accurately portrays the life of a milk deliverer who doesn't have a truck and who has to physically walk back and forth between the factory and the houses where she delivers milk.

I must applaud the huge amount of stuff in the game, and it's kinda funny that there are so many cows, AND I really got the feeling of monotony and hard work, so if that was what you were going for, bravo. Designing with a certain player experience in mind is always great.

Abstraction Blaster by antagonist 2017-12-28T12:41:03Z

There's a lot of stuff going on and it seems like an interesting game, but I had a hard time getting into it. Maybe it's the lack of feedback and controls that I don't really understand. I didn't have a second player to play with either, so I don't feel like I can give meaningful feedback on the play experience.

Very nice game. At first I thought it was just another tower defense game, but having the money increase based on wealth is super clever. I really enjoyed trying out different strategies and getting as far as possible.

Having to think about when to buy stuff and trying to wait until the last second was super cool.

EDIT: Think I broke the game. I'm currently at quarter 55 with over 2 million in the bank ;) Capture.PNG

EDIT EDIT: it just goes on forever now. :P

Interview at Cacophony by Christoph 2017-12-05T22:10:03Z

It's a super nice idea and the musical pieces are well executed. Pretty fun as well, for a while. The interface and graphics are quite meh tho, but it works for the game.

Fred the Author by simokelo 2017-12-05T20:46:32Z

Feel like it's missing some feedback but the graphics and atmosphere are nice and it's interesting to try to figure out which are the best and worst cards to choose.

Let's mix some drinks! by Sintel 2017-12-29T10:29:58Z

Wow, this was really something special. I've played a lot of games that try to capture the experience of getting drunk, but never one which actually had me getting flashbacks and laughing out loud. This was an amazing experience. Thank you.

Sidewalk Shuffle by Lars 2017-12-05T21:17:14Z

Played it at the jam site and it's really fun. Somehow there's a lot of strategy to be made when you have just a tonne of characters on the same team and they interact interestingly with each other. Beside that, the graphics are pretty and the alternative controls are just fun to play aronud with. Great game.

The Usual by Praveen Nam 2017-12-05T21:06:28Z

I won! That was a fun little experience and for a jam I think you hit the experience of being drung in a bar pretty well. Liked the different challenges and the sounds and to a degree the music (a little annoying that it's so close to the dropkick murpheys song without actually having the same melody imo). Good game, cheers.

Politically Correct Hunting by tschery 2017-12-05T20:37:36Z

Haha, I really suck yeah xD

Busy Room by chinykian 2017-12-27T20:41:09Z

Awesome entry. I liked every part of the game. I love that you have taken a simple mechanic and polished the hell out of it. Adding the slowmotion is super genius. Graphics are nice. Sounds and music go hand in hand with gameplay and visuals. Only bad thing I have to say is that it doesn't feel like it has super much replayability, but who cares. (∩^o^)⊃━☆゚.*・。゚
