A fun little minigame! I liked how the music got faster the further you got! Managed to get 19 score after a couple of tries :D

lamossus 2017-12-05 07:53

Great game! Couldn't get past 21 though

mactinite 2017-12-05 07:54

Very solid! Managed to get up to 30. Great little mini game.

sidewalksleeper 2017-12-05 07:55

A simple but fun little game. The animations really make your art shine, and I dig the minimalist aesthetic. (I could only collect 20 diamonds)

nardandas 2017-12-05 08:05

Really really fun game, probably the best arcade-style game I've seen this LD. I absolutely love the simple color pallet and the sort of like, wholeness of the game. It all fits together and it doesn't really need anything else. It get monstrously hard fast too, but it's still all based in skill. Great game!

chinykian 2017-12-05 08:34

@ponker @lamossus @sidewalksleeper Thank you! My highscore is 30 ;) @mactinite Thanks mate! Great score! It's the same as mine =D @nardandas Thank you so much for your kind words! =')

pixelformedstudios 2017-12-05 16:24

Really liked this game. The controls were very responsive, this was a simple but effective concept done well. I also love how the more enemies there were, the more you relied on the slow motion feature. It felt really rewarding dodging five enemies at once using this feature. Very good game!

beepyeah 2017-12-05 18:34

the minimal aesthetic is great. nice graphics, and good gameplay value. love the simplicity and execution!

chinykian 2017-12-06 04:01

@PixelFormedStudios Thank you! I'm glad you like the slow-mo feature! =) @beepyeah Thanks!

rodel77 2017-12-06 05:20

The thumbnail catch me, nice and clean graphics, my highscore its like 20~

grentacular 2017-12-06 05:45

I liked how the music got faster whenever you collected a crystal, and the simplicity of the graphics really worked with the game. The controls were really smooth and the slow-mo was well-implemented. Great work!

chinykian 2017-12-06 17:55

@rodel77 @grentacular Thanks! =)

ludrak 2017-12-07 07:15

nice game ! the simple graphics are really nice too :)

yohoho-games 2017-12-07 07:25

Wonderful concept and realization!!!

ekilibr 2017-12-07 07:40

I love clever simple design that push your skill limits to maximum :) It immediately felt like a revisited snake mechanism to me, with a great twist!

Feels & Play great, with simple but rewarding feedbacks. Great job!

antoined73 2017-12-07 07:55

**Simple and addictive !** This is a super fun game ! Very clever and well made, I really liked the music pacing faster and faster at each gem you take ! I didn't managed to use slow motion properly, maybe I'm a noob  Good luck !

retrospecter 2017-12-07 07:59

This game is fantastic! Its really easy to pick up and play and it feels really good. Is the music done procedurally as well?

tuism 2017-12-07 07:59

No mac build :(

michael-gor 2017-12-07 08:08

Very good concept ! 100% more you have then worse it is ! I like this game!

blu3bird 2017-12-07 08:48

That was really simple and fun, haha. Nice game!

chinykian 2017-12-07 09:34

@tuism Thanks for raising the issue! I've updated both the gamejolt and itch.io page to include a mac build. Do lemme know if it works for you! =D

chinykian 2017-12-07 09:41

@ludrak @yohoho-games @ekilibr @antoined73 @michael-gor @blu3bird Thanks everyone!! <3 @retrospecter Thank you so much!! There's a real-time manipulation of the music's speed, but the music itself isn't procedurally-generated. It was more me trying to make something decent sounding and failing at it XD.

sidewalksleeper 2017-12-07 10:20

Honestly, the more I think about this game, the more I like it. Probably my personal pick for the winner of this LD.

technonugget 2017-12-07 11:45

Wow, I just played like 50 rounds and managed to score a high of 26. This is extremely addicting. I gotta say, I wasn't expecting much from the screencaps, but this has gotta be one of my favorite games I've played so far, if not my favorite. The color scheme was beautiful also and I loved how the audio track's bpm increased the more diamonds(or wahtever they were) you collected. Good job, solid game.

tuism 2017-12-07 11:57

Downloaded the mac version for itchio and tried to run it and just got an error: Screen Shot 2017-12-07 at 13.57.12.png

chinykian 2017-12-07 12:02

@sidewalksleeper @technonugget Thank you both! =') That meant a lot to me.

chinykian 2017-12-07 12:04

@tuism I think there's a bug on Gamemaker's end. Could you try shifting the game to another folder, like the desktop perhaps? I had the same issue but shifting the game to the desktop made it worked, for some reason.

tuism 2017-12-07 12:18

Cool moving it to desktop worked :) That's weird.

Really cute little game, has great polish, the sense of urgency ramping up is really cool with a concert of effects like the music's pitch shift. The game works well and the predictable paths of people make for a great mechanic.

I would have liked to see people "enter" through doors or something, it feels like that would have a bit of narrative value. Like an introvert at a party or something. Having them pop into existence feels odd, but then this isn't a realistic game, of course.

There's just not that much variation I guess, would be interesting to see how it expands, if it does.

nusan 2017-12-07 12:39

Cool game, fun and simple. I like the simple colors and how it's yourself that make the enemies spawn while collecting the gems. The slom-mo powers was a bit hard to use effectively. Keep up the good work.

chinykian 2017-12-07 14:32

@tuism Thank you! Good point, I should try giving it some narrative value - it ought to be fun figuring out how to do that given the game's somewhat abstract presentation =) @nusan Thanks mate!

wildgamut 2017-12-07 16:14

Neat concept! The slo-mo was a great addition, saved me more than a few times once the room started getting really full. You kept the scope small and manageable, which is good for a game jam, although I definitely wish there was a little more to the people. Maybe giving them random abilities or even just different sizes and speeds?

Nice work! :)

neontropics 2017-12-07 23:42

This was super fun! Good well tuned gameplay - these sorts of games needs that fast movement and constant near misses and nice manoeuvres around the enemy. The slow-mo powers were a nice twist. Graphics were great as well - you did a lot with very few pixels.

Reminds me a bit of Pacifist mode in Geometry Wars, or this obscure amazing japanese freeware game TKKN.exe

Great entry!!

dunin 2017-12-08 12:32

Simple but well made game.

Love graphics!

Good arcade feeling (even I'm bad (best:18), each time I use slowdown, I lose...)

chinykian 2017-12-08 15:00

@wildgamut Thanks for the suggestions! =) I shall see how I can introduce more varieties post-jam =) @neontropics Thanks mate! Now I've gotta check out TKKN.exe =D! @dunin Thanks! I think I can further improve the slow-mo if I include a more obvious feedback when your meter's running out.

kramdar 2017-12-08 16:58

Fantastic! Everything really comes together in this. The tiny color palette, retro music, and simple arcade gameplay compliment each other so well. Each time I play it I notice another bit of polish too, from the crunchiness of the music during slow mo to the screen jitter upon diamond pickup. The only criticism I have is that there could be something added to getting past certain milestones. Whether it's a beneficial powerup or an enemy that's faster or has a special ability. It might clash with the minimalist appeal but once a player reaches that point and things switch up a bit they'll have even more drive to reach that point again, and this game is already addictive. Definitely my top pick at the moment!

omiya-games 2017-12-09 03:15

I really appreciate the amount of polish that went into this game. The magnetic diamonds, generous hitboxes, and useful-but-not-over-powered slow-down are all fantastic. There's substantial amount of visual feedback that helps me make informed decisions in a short amount of time.

I guess I was expecting a more frenetic, faster-paced action game; I felt after a few playthroughs I was good. Despite the polish, I didn't quite feel it was a compelling experience that encouraged me to replay the game again. I'm not really sure how to fix that, and it might just boil down to taste.

chin-jieh 2017-12-09 18:32

Wow, this game is the prime example of a simple idea executed really well. There's so many small details that add up to produce the feeling of polish - the cohesive art themes, the sound design (I like how the beat goes faster as the game progresses, the spawning of the enemies (preparing you in advance so it feels fair) and of course the smooth and responsive controls, just to name a few. And dying really seems fair too - you have a view of the whole game and even a slow-mo button, you just need to get good!!

Kept me engaged for quite a while, I had a lot of fun in playing and observing. Amazing game especially for one person! :D Really inspires me to think simple.

chinykian 2017-12-10 05:46

@kramdar Thank you so much <3! Indeed I'm toying around with the idea of adding a power-up =)

@omiya-games Thanks for the feedback!

@chin-jieh Thanks mate! I love your game too! =D

toboggan 2017-12-19 02:57

I like this one a lot! Really pure design. The choice to add slow-mo and to make it limited but rechargeable is great. The restricted colour and art design are very tasteful. Really nice job!

hisfantor 2017-12-21 14:53

I like that you didn't had a UI and just throw us in the game

simon-stalhandske 2017-12-27 20:41

Awesome entry. I liked every part of the game. I love that you have taken a simple mechanic and polished the hell out of it. Adding the slowmotion is super genius. Graphics are nice. Sounds and music go hand in hand with gameplay and visuals. Only bad thing I have to say is that it doesn't feel like it has super much replayability, but who cares. (∩^o^)⊃━☆゚.*・。゚
