LD45 — Start with nothing

Warden of Void by kessutinnu 2019-10-10T12:55:01Z

@shrapx Thank you for sharing the stream! There are indeed several solutions, my own paths were quite different from yours. I'm curious though, why did you not use the level select but started over from the tutorial?

Warden of Void by kessutinnu 2019-10-11T15:10:24Z

Thank you for the suggestion, @p-r! I wouldn't make it *the* jump button, because using up or w seems more intuitive and should make the game easier to learn. However adding right mouse button as an alternative or giving the user option to change controls is not a bad idea.

Snake Farmer by sorecactus 2019-10-08T20:01:25Z

I've heard using plants to lure butterflies, but luring snakes like that was new to me.

It took a long time for any snakes to actually show up. By that time I had gotten a bit bored and was messing around, accidentally ran *through* the clubhouse and got stuck on the other side

Run Through Worlds by celsyum 2019-10-07T08:02:15Z

The instructions were sufficient to get started, but there were two things that took me a few tries to figure out: * That I have to click several times for anything to happen * which things I can collect at which stage.

Duck Fortress by shrapx 2019-10-10T13:06:41Z

I noticed I could still toss a box after dying. Felt nice to get payback :smirk:

A Hundred Years of a Tree by Hexcolyte 2019-10-08T12:02:10Z

Evil humans can be pretty much ignored, rain will come often enough, that the tree is unlikely to die. It is much more useful to just constantly boost growth.

A Merchant's Adventure by sharbelfs 2019-10-08T16:43:18Z

Very challenging and quite addictive. I am not very good merchant though, could never reach the third city

Not My Hoarder by Tommyflower 2019-10-09T12:52:47Z

I was kind of disappointed when I didn't bounce on the trampoline. I mean I know it would've been absolutely unnecessary extra work for you to implement it, but I still wanted to.

Magic Escape by Xephrys 2019-10-13T13:05:58Z

Did you know it it possible to pick up the key several times if you click on the frog?

Nothing by JoelLikesPigs 2019-10-07T08:21:52Z

I think I'm not supposed to do that.

Song of Creation by anttiviljami 2019-10-07T17:34:30Z

You list windows release on this page, but there isn't one on your github page. I did try your game out in Unity though and it was fun as hell yelling random stuff at my little laptop and watching things appear .

Blind by ukirain 2019-10-08T18:45:34Z

It looked cool, but the gameplay felt a bit boring for me. For the puzzle I just randomly clicked around for a while and it suddenly got solved. I also had the same character flicker issue as Guardaro.

Nice story!

Eidos by GreenRadiation 2019-10-13T13:36:16Z

I barely managed to catch any matter at the beginning but the game progressed regardless. Once I got past the galaxy creation to where those red and blue circles appeared, I had no idea what to do next. I seemed unable to do anything other than play with time slider. I feel like this game has potential, but it still needs more work.

CreepyCandy by Slipultura 2019-10-08T17:59:33Z

Very good looking game! The movement felt a bit awkward at times. I would've liked some extra lives or smoother control because always starting over felt really frustrating.

I passed the third chapter by climbing over it, but then again, since you left that option maybe it was intentional

The path of Fireflies by Omickron 2019-10-08T15:45:58Z

There seems to be some issue with the rising platforms, I kept falling off. The mechanic of setting distractions seemed like a good idea, but the bats always showed up too unexpectedly for me to do anything about them.

I really love the art in this game. Very beautiful!

Cultivation by emmyoop 2019-10-11T15:59:03Z

Are those Lindenmayer trees? It was a nice game, just the sounds started getting a little distorted whenever I switched to grow after the second house became visible. After the game ended and I pressed quit I got another weird effect: the overlay got stuck and sound became something like a broken record where a second long clip got repeated endlessly. Other than that it was a pleasant experience watching the tree grow.

Hello World by NoobException 2019-10-07T18:04:45Z

Ironworks seem to get mistaken for iron mines? I got until third level guide offers no help from there. The buildings list also doesn't update. The idea is pretty cool. It would be nice if you could use tab to autocomplete like in some terminals.

Hold X to Focus by toasteater 2019-10-07T09:19:39Z

I found the air dash a frustrating. It is very difficult to time it well.

Becoming Something by Gossian 2019-10-17T12:40:23Z

I liked that you had different mechanic for each maze. There should maybe be have been more hints about the path on the second level, because right now it was more randomly bouncing around than solving a maze. I also think that in the first levels the placement of extra life should be reviewed so it would be more likely collected after having passed some of the obstacles. Other than that I think you've made a pretty nice game

Snake Sokoban Spiral by SSStormy 2019-10-07T08:42:48Z

Rolling doesn't work for me. It shows boxes, but I don't know how to finish the move.

Golden Retriever by Gone3001 2019-10-08T19:32:20Z

Pretty funny game. There is quite a bit of waiting around. It would be cool if there was something (useless) to do while idle such as throw a tennis ball around the screen.

Desert Tiles by Wubbl 2019-10-08T17:41:51Z

The game idea was cool and the art style looks very pleasant. I did notice a few things that bothered me. * If something happens to plants that you only have one of before they give you seeds, you are pretty much doomed. It would be good to have some possibility to put out the fire or remove bugs at the start of the game at least. * The fast forward button wasn't intuitive, I expected to click rather than hold. * The game field was too large, I would rather have slightly faster game on a smaller field, which would make fires and bugs a bigger threat

Overall, good job!

What's Behind The Mirror by el_fideo_rubio 2019-10-08T19:23:54Z

The painting like look of the environment was cool and I really liked the idea. There was a bit too much motion blur - I kinda got dizzy. Also I did not understand if the weapon was any use or not in the first two dreams, because nothing seemed to happen when used it. I also would've liked if I could use lines to paint rather than dots. Other than that, it was a pretty cool game.

Charly the orphan by Jaypay 2019-10-08T19:46:50Z

I think the reason people fail to give Mr.J his items is that rather than clicking on "click here" you have to click above it. It could be an issue with screen resolution, but I'm not sure. I also notices that the reloading after bumping into things takes oddly long. Overall I think it's not bad for people just starting to make games.

BEHOLD: The Doodle Godgame by BradleyAshley 2019-10-14T12:16:26Z

I kind of expected things like trees and animals get spread around like the stars did. I did not realize I could move at first so several things ended up in the same spot. Just being able to change the brush size and having some interpolation so you's draw lines rather than dots would've improved the experience quite a bit for me. It was still fun and an interesting take on the theme.

After scrapping by Alexsogge 2019-10-08T18:17:32Z

Loved the idea, but the game itself was not good. I understand it's tough without arms and legs, but the movement was way too slow for area so big. Having to control camera, the direction robot is facing and movement all separately was a bit unusual and quite inconvenient. There was also some flickering with the textures or lights which was kind of irritating. Keep trying though, with some tinkering I think this game could become enjoyable.
