It's pretty flashy and it's a pretty cool effect you've achieved with the time limit. I didn't really see the theme fitting in with it though. Maybe you could have added some sort of rythm mechanic similar to Elite Beat Agents? That way you'd have a "health bar" that is kept up through the player's actions

@adam-clayden, thanks for the feedback! One of these days I'll try to do an actual rhythm game and see what I can come up with.

As far as theme goes, it inspired the underlying "space ship crew barters their lives to protect others" concept, but it's not necessarily as apparent as I'd originally planned.

Excellent submission as usual! The music had some serious Battlestar Galactica Vibes for me, so if that was intended, well done indeed. Fascinated by the text effects you accomplished, has some awesome applications for any future rhythm game. I missed the theme but that's okay (We outright ignored the theme this go around so I'm not throwing any stones). Great work!

atmospherium 2019-05-03 00:01

@occultone, I wasn't picturing Battlestar specifically, but now that you bring it up I'm sure that it was subconsciously informing my sound decisions. I love that futuristic, ethnically-ambiguous, rhythmically interesting stuff that shows up in sci-fi.

fashionbatman 2019-05-03 00:04

At the beginning I was like "this kind of reminds me of the band between the buried and me" and then at the end i was like "oh hell yeah". This looked and sounded great, good job!

ddrkirbyisq 2019-05-03 03:38

sweeeeeet

arcana 2019-05-03 03:38

Nice song. Great visuals. I could totally imagine you making a killing if you managed to fit this onto video synthesis hardware because the effect is really awesome. Would be great is there was a little more dynamics in the visuals based on the audio parameters.

atmospherium 2019-05-03 20:39

@fashionbatman - Thanks! They're one of my all time favorite bands, so I really appreciate the comparison.

spirits 2019-05-06 00:36

Great Job! The music and visuals were awesome

jjjjason 2019-05-06 03:36

Yooooooo you composed the track behind this? It's sick!! Starts out really reminding me of a Massive Attack song (Angel's got a similar tonality) before busting out into that awesome doom metal banger. Very cool!

atmospherium 2019-05-06 18:34

@jjjjason, thanks! Yeah, I made the music. Glad to hear you liked it!

kappa-b 2019-05-06 19:16

Wow, nice job! The particles and effects are very impressive, I had no idea that Unity system could do that. The music fit nicely! It was an enjoyable trip to experience I am impressed well done!

feips 2019-05-06 20:09

I really didn't know Unity was capable of such things, you did a great job (Altough I have no idea how this fits into the theme).

popdaddygames 2019-05-07 00:52

I love the colors and flashy presence! :)

0x0 2019-05-07 01:07

Really cool aesthetic. I wish the experience was interactive though! I wanted to click it so bad :stuck_out_tongue:

foolmoron 2019-05-07 03:06

So sick. I thought it was going to be a little demo of your effects but it turned out to be a fully choreographed music video. The mix between dynamic beat-based effects and the hand-placed effects was really good. It all seemed really intentional. The song itself was very well produced, but I do wish the lyrics were more clear so we could get a sense of the theme.

attala 2019-05-07 06:11

This was a nice experience, thank you :) You've made the music and visuals fit nicely together.

xkyl 2019-05-07 16:48

I can't call it a game.

atmospherium 2019-05-07 17:11

I didn't call it a game. (x6)

jjjjason 2019-05-07 17:16

Imma go against the grain here and call this a game. Take that, nerds!!

cheesepencil 2019-05-07 19:28

I'll call this a game but just one time. Making JUST a song in 48 hr is p cool I sure as heck couldn't do as well as that on sound if I had a year to do it. Given my experience with unity's particles getting ANY thing cool to come out of it is an accomplishment.

fonserbc 2019-05-08 16:27

Sounds great and looks awesome! Did you make the song during LD too @atmospherium ? Did you write the lyrics?

atmospherium 2019-05-08 17:15

@fonserbc, yep! All writing, recording, programming, etc... was done during the Compo timeframe. There's a few of us in LD who also do a weekly challenge to write and record a song in an hour, which is really good practice for working fast. If you're interested in joining in sometime, check out http://compo.thasauce.net/compos/view/OHC

Been eyeing your game, it's on my list to get to tonight. I enjoyed pianobots a lot and I'm glad to see more procedural audio stuff.

snowschu 2019-05-10 07:44

Pretty cool. The visuals were definitely interesting. Music was great. <3

Thanks for hanging out on the stream, as well! Here's the [link to the steram](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/422835552?t=33m29s). Your game should start around [00:33:29].

Got the download, enjoyed staring at a black void of nothingness while listening to some good music 10/10

Seriously, that happened with the last entry of yours I tried to launch. I guess my computer can't handle your amazing visuals or something.

So I watched the YouTube video to see what I missed. I guess the reason why that one isn't preferred is because some of the lyrics don't quite sync up with when they actually appear in the song? Regardless, everything was very...particle-y. I liked the fuzziness towards the end; it did match up with the way the song built up to the end. It was cool.

atmospherium 2019-05-21 03:54

@random-storykeeper, dangit. My new life goal is that someday you'll be able to actually run a project of mine...
