LD45 — Start with nothing

The Life Spirit by Cobear25 2019-10-08T03:38:37Z

One of the best entries I've seen so far. Neat art, simple and intuitive Gameplay. I'll have to confess that I didn't quite get the logic of each tile to protect from the incoming waves and kept myself placing randomly the pieces to protect the center one. Nicely done with the music too. Great job!

Crazy Run Game by room606 2019-10-18T03:20:24Z

I got the theme reference and actually liked the art, but I have to say that the npc wander was kinda lame. The lack of a restart is really frustrating.

Space Beggar by Carlos Lennon 2019-10-07T21:26:51Z

Nice music. I'm kinda tired of asteroids based games, though. Nice arts and physics implementation with action/reaction law. ;)

LD46 — Keep it alive

The Olympic Flame: 2420 by Local Minimum 2020-04-29T20:26:21Z

Hey, guys! Interesting gameplay and I wonder who would play at maximum speed. I felt sorry for the poor robot, cuz in multiple times there was not a single piece to turn him into the right direction or even make him walk backwards. I'm sure it was built to be challenging, but the player should have at least a small chance to get things right and the ramdomness of the available pieces makes things too difficult. To make it progressively challenging, maybe start with only one locked slot, instead of 2, allow a turn based instead of continuously move, start with a slower pace in this continuous mode and add some intelligence to make sure the movement the player is looking for (or a sequence of movements that would allow the same result) is available, even if it is not obvious.

Lost Goblins by pndaa 2020-04-21T21:56:13Z

Gret graphics and concept. I wish there was a better way to explain why the goblins die in front of a closed door, though... maybe another type of obstacle instead of doors would be better... like traps on the floor or something like that. The sound was a little unbalanced regarding sound effects and background music. Awesome job on the particles for that portal effect in the end and also great job on the goblin itself. The images of the goblin and the dark lord at the begging were very nice. Missed some art in the main menu, though. maybe the same images could be used there instead of the splash screens with the dialog at the beggning. Good job overrall! ;)

Super Rally by Fengol 2020-04-21T20:40:30Z

Could not play... :( Got this error: "Your browser does not support any of the required graphics API for this content." Does that mean I don't have enough juice on my hardware for your game? I'm using Alienware! :P

Tiny Fragments by Daniel Moreno 2020-04-21T20:56:49Z

Awesome concept and execution. Nicely done! 5 out of 5 starts in every category for me!

Raiders of the Rural Realm by SpiRiTs 2020-04-29T20:45:56Z

Nice mechanics, with different types of attacks, even though only one attack button is used. Very responsive and challenging. It did not feel that innovative, but surely was well executed, so congrats. I liked the graphics very much. The animation for each character is awesome and the music/sounds are also great. One of the best entries in terms of completeness, since you aced accross every category. You seem to work well together, so I hope in your next entry you can challenge yourselves to do something out of the ordinary. Sure you would be great, since you nailed this simple game with such attention to details.

Finding Sam by nolanfa 2020-04-21T20:16:23Z

Hey, the graphics are awesome and really helped the story telling. My son and I played it together and the story really got his attention, even though I was a little bit worried it would be fit for him (he is 7yo... hehe). It looks like the mouse events was super sensible, cuz sometimes we ended up missing some lines that jumped ahead with a single click. Since the dialog area and the guy with the foot up were in the same place in the screen, we also got caught trapped in that dialog a few times. Nice story and, again, great art work. Congrats!

Hope by Darylsteak 2020-04-28T03:02:44Z

Great submission here! Theme very well applied and polished. It's great that you found a way to put the puzzles to work in such short time. Graphics are awesome and sfx also great. I've missed a background music to set the tone, specially when the zombies are on you. Texts were not that readable with the chosen font, but it sure matches the art work, so it did not bothered me that much. Nice work, @darylsteak!

MicroVore by Eran Haas 2020-04-29T20:34:27Z

Weel, this sure is a beautiful experience and the music and effects were great. But for sure the controls and objective of the game is far from intuitive. I got the challange of using only particles, but instructions do matter. If there was no time to put it into the game, at least put it in the entry description... :P

platformEGG by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-04-29T20:56:20Z

All I got was "Cannot read property 'getParameter' of undefined" when starting the game... :(

ADOA - Addition Dino Offspring Alive by fabrito 2020-04-22T00:08:08Z

Thanks for the feedback @angelina! The art was rookie level as it was the first time we dared to develop a game with original art, but no artist in the team.

ADOA - Addition Dino Offspring Alive by fabrito 2020-04-22T00:10:32Z

Thanx @raxe612! Glad you liked the art! We based it on a Faber-Castell video tips for drawing dinosaurs, rocks and trees... ;)

ADOA - Addition Dino Offspring Alive by fabrito 2020-04-22T00:16:54Z

Hi, @zwinzler-games! You got it right! We planned on sharing the game with my son friends to help on studying their math in his first educational years. We might put some effort into this game to port it for mobile once we can polish things a little bit better. We had a lot of fun with the rolling rocks, but it sure can get a little frustrating if the first rock end up in the middle of the platform and the next one can't fit. That's when the reset button was born... Hehe We thought about sticking the rock to the platform once it touches it, but my son had so much fun and when he managed to fit both rocks it was almost an epic win in some cases... Hehe We could take it from him. Maybe some power up in the future? ;)

@hangarter, glad you liked it! I hope we can make the educational games a little more fun for the kids! Muito obrigado! ;)

ADOA - Addition Dino Offspring Alive by fabrito 2020-04-22T00:30:45Z

Wow, @dhim! What an amazing feedback there! There are 9 different progressions in the game, with three level types and 3, 4 and 5 rocks to choose from. Since every combination is played 3 times to make sure the kid got the intention in each level, you have to get at least to level 25 to taste all the variations. Since the weight is randomized, it can go on forever. My son played up to the 30th level, when I had to take him away from the computer so I could keep on polishing it. The ascending level (7 to 9) is the trickiest, since you have to level the platform in three different heights.

We (me and my family) feel great that you really put some effort into playing with our game to feel the progression.

For now, our tip for the players is to focus on placing the rocks on each edge of the platform, so the second one will not be so difficult to fit.

Thanks again for your feedback!

That's odd, @bearding8... I've tried in a different computer, just now, and it worked fine. It's not suited for mobile, since it relies on the directional keys... rookie mistake... is that your problem? Let me know if there's something I can do about it with a quick fix. C'ya!

ADOA - Addition Dino Offspring Alive by fabrito 2020-04-23T21:45:23Z

Thanks, @tony-artz! We will show this prototype around in my son school and if it sparkles some interest, than it might have some future. ;)

Remember, Apollo by AdamCYounis 2020-04-21T21:38:29Z

What a nice way to tell a story. Some shots were tricky and quite frustrating for me and my 7yo son that played along, but it was pretty well executed. I missed a background song ou even sound effects. I maxed my speakers and did not get anything. Was it my fault or the game lacked sound for real? This experience really called for some mood song along the way. Nice job overrall!

Power Defense Game by SciDev 2020-04-21T19:58:01Z

Nice graphics and suited the theme well. I've tried to play with my son, but he lost interest quickly because the battery was being drained fast, even though it was just a can and strings (good one, btw), and it made him nervous and not want to play anymore...

Why Baby? by Chris Rock 2020-04-21T20:36:52Z

I really enjoyed playing the game. The courses and names kinda bothered me, mostly because I was playing with my son, so the translation had to be softened on the fly... hehe The resources administration was a little hard to keep up, but I have to confess that I am not keen on this type of game. The red screen when he is dying seemed to be only time related and not according to the life meter, but it is probably my fault... hehe Maybe a sound feedback once each station is ready for the next interaction it would be helpfull. Nice arts and sounds, btw. Awesome team work here. Congrats!

Feed The Monster by Svalinn85 2020-04-28T02:33:14Z

Nice work, guys! Great art, the right dose of humor and controls very intuitive. The How to play screens are as good as the game itself! ;) I enjoyed playing and watch the different endings depending on who dies (doctor or monster)... hehe The music is good and the noise hovering the buttons is hilarious. At first it made me curious about the sound effects used in the middle of the song and than I realised I was the one making those noises with the buttons. Good one, again. It kept surprising me and compensates the apparent lack of innovation when the theme "keep it alive" is simply put to work with a "keep the monster alive". Don't get me wrong, I liked the game a lot, but it looks like you invested in the first idea that came to mind. It was very well executed, but it felt like you could do wonders together and aim higher than this. Congrats!!

Final Interrogation by Gamer Fates 2020-04-23T04:31:58Z

Well, that was... different... hehe Boy there was a lot of text there, huh? I found myself a little lost in the lack of structure, since all the text is in a single paragraph to fit the screen. The questions was to short for the amount of information that the suspects answer, so I was just wild guessing after every answer. The music only starts playing in the middle of the game, and of course the main menu was quite simple to enable/disable sound. Overrall it was a different experience, but it did not grab my attention enough to consume all this text.

Tumbleweed by Brenan 2020-04-28T03:18:08Z

Wow, just wow indeed... Great atmosphere, amazing art, it is poetry, visual and literal. Almost hard to believe something like this can be done is such short time, specially the cutscene at the end. By the way, why would any driver honk to a tumbleweed? ;) 5/5 stars for me, even though and it made me feel an complete inate amateur after watching a AAA indie game like this made in 72h... :P

Social Distancing For LadyBugs by mehrdadsh 2020-04-23T04:38:59Z

Hey @mehrdadsh, congrats on your first jam! You made a quite funny mini-game there. Its pretty well balanced and the AI seems good for its purpose. I felt like the ladybugs where too close to each other throughout the game. Nice music and art job.

Sprouting Tale (LD46) by Tony_Artz 2020-04-23T04:19:00Z

Hi there, nice way to start jamming, welcome aboard! ;) I really liked your graphics and, has you mentioned, missed the music background, since this fast pacing platforms kinda require that. I did not find the time to add sounds to my game as well... :P

I felt like the camera was up too close, so it had to move a lot only to keep the girl on the screen for a single jump. I have to confess that it took me a while to get used to the fast moves with a view so up close. The idea of being able to shoot only when the flower is in the air is good, but as @petturtle mentioned, if the flower was bigger, that would help a lot. And again, if the player was able to see the flower up in the air while shooting enemies it would be fair. If it was meant to be this difficult, than maybe there should be some sort of progression, cuz the player will just get frustrated and give up, so he will not enjoy all the levels you planned.

Another thing, since there is a health bar in the right, I felt bad for dying so quickly when touching the enemie. That bar went straight to zero and game over. By the third time I gave up because I had to do all over again. Maybe some checkpoints along the way, idk...

Well, congrats and keep quality games coming! ;)

Spoon by Cadstor 2020-04-28T02:47:00Z

It looks like the idea came from the chrome dinosaur game, so I guess your internet went offline during the first ours of the jam, right? hehe The high point, for me, was the authoral music and sfx. Nicely done! The art is funny, but the rendering is painfull. It seems like there was missing frames and everything felt laggy and blinking. The obstacles appeared in the middle of the screen instead of in the right as you would expect in an endless runner, but appart from that, it is homorous. Can't say it made me play more than a couple of times though. Maybe some sort of different obstacles or an evolution that is able to show more of your art work before getting so repetitive. I get the simplicity of a game with a single button can be attractive when programming is not the best resource, but, for me, it felt like another action button, as pressing down arrow key to force the character down to jump again ou a fire button to disable some types of obstacles or dock to avoid high obstacles was missed. Hope to hear more from you! ;)
