This was cool, love the idea that the sound & effects amp up as you increase score.
Not sure if it's just my browser (or my poor excuse for tennis skills) but I found it tricky to get the shot timing right. I wondered if showing the "possible hit area" around the player (like you do with the opponent) would help me line up / time shots better?
Overall I think this game proves that classical tennis could be markedly improved by having players ingest psychedelics as they get more points.

I had a hard time getting the shot timing right. But it was a neat concept, love the idea of keeping the rally alive. Maybe pong style controls would work well here?

Had the same thing with controls as people above. Was really hard to time it right!

The concept is great, though it was super hard to hit the balls so I didn't get very far. Like someone else mentioned, maybe a visual hit area would improve the gameplay :)

Good game idea but the timing for kick the ball is very too short

Could not play... :( Got this error: "Your browser does not support any of the required graphics API for this content." Does that mean I don't have enough juice on my hardware for your game? I'm using Alienware! :P

The really slow acceleration (almost felt like it was strong input lag at first) isn't very appealing but the concept is good. Felt like the game was 30fps the whole time but apart from that it was fun
Interesting, pretty good game but controls felt quite clunky.

Should definitely go with a faster pacing & larger hitboxes, maybe even ditch having to press space to hit the ball back.

ohh, 2 fps in HTML5 :)
Like the others, I also found it hard to get the timing right. I thought it might be broken, but after enough tries, I did get the hang of it. I think it's a good difficulty level. I suspect that the ball hit mechanic is triggering on when the spacebar goes up. It may be more intuitive to have the ball hit when the spacebar goes down.
I really like that as levels progress, there's more and more happening on screen. Sparkles, background color, hearts. That's all really good. It made playing feel rewarding, though at around 10, there's a blur that obscures the player and the ball when it comes near. I found it distracting.
This was fun.

Thank you everyone for the comments, I've updated the gameplay so it's more like pong and you don't need to hit the ball!
Love the idea, I just had some trouble with timing to get the funky stuff to start happening.
While playing the initial version where you had to time the hit it was a little frustrating. Right now it's a really nice game to just take your mind off of things. There's an element of "feels like work" that if you look at the gameplay really closely you'll notice that there's a lot happening "automagically" as well. This is a nice touch as it feels much more forgiving as a player.
A simple yet enjoyable game of tennis, though I might suggest implementing levels of difficulties into the game as the player gets higher score to sort of challenge the player. Great work!
At first I thought it was a simple pong, but the more I played I saw visual changes that made me play more and more.
Transitions with particle effects on the ball and the background are very well accomplished.
Nice job.

The idea is simple, relaxing and fun. The graphics is overall pretty good. I would have liked if the game become harder over time, for now it keeps being really easy. Overall is this a fine little jam game.

Pretty fun to play. It is basically Pong, but Pong is a lot of fun and the little graphical tweaks make it interesting. I really like how the ball becomes sparkly if you last long enough. Overall a very good entry, and I am happy to turn the game's 19 ratings into 20!

Cool game, but the controls are a bit hard to use and could use a bit of adjustment. All in all its a good entry.
As I started playing, I thought it was kind of boring and simple, but then as more and more effects started coming in, I started getting so curious about what the effects at higher scores would be, so I kept playing and kept trying to get higher and higher scores! I'll be honest, the strange acceleration on the little figure was a bit hard to work with—I wish the movement across the board felt more natural. Still, it was a super interesting way to make a simple concept turn into a more engaging product!
