Loved the fire character. This is a tough platformer! I was close to giving up during the first level. I did give up in the second level when I couldn't see where I was going. With the "Want to be the Boshy" games, getting punished by invisible things at least has a comedic pay off. Here, the lack of vision makes you want to go faster, but you can't because it's too dangerous. So these two competing pressures caused me frustration. I'm not sure if this is a bug or not - was the ice cube supposed to prevent me from moving? Either way, great concept, and I did enjoy the one level I was able to pass :)

Really nice controls platformers are hard to get right. I think this just needs a death effect when you die.

bakob 2020-04-20 07:46

It's really great and really frustrating, exactly how it should be. I like how you directly restart without the need of a game-over-screen or a menu. The last thing you need after dying for a thousand times is to have to click through a menu for a thousand times. Thanks a lot for sharing this game

Like this game especially fire player, but i think some checkpoints would be good

joaquim-2009 2020-04-20 07:47

The gravity is to high i think but really good idea

martintale 2020-04-20 07:48

I love the look and wish it was available on Mac/Web for me to try :) Either way, good luck ;)

Really like the artstyle and the music. I found the gameplay to be difficult, but I'm usually not good at 2D platformers :) Good job!

digitallimestone 2020-04-20 07:51

This is a cool game, the arts really nice and the music is good without being repetitive. I liked the character animation and it was also really nice how the background lit up. WE NEED CHECKPOINTS! I ended up going back to the beginning like 20 times.

Well Done!

What I liked most about this game was definitely the whole concept of your light slowly going out. It kind of forced you to speedrun despite the extremely challenging environment. However I think you should implement at least some sort of checkpoint system. Otherwise half of the players will rage quit within the first minute. Good job!

notafamousguy 2020-04-20 07:57

i really liked to mood of this game. the whole environment is superb overall an awesome game.

ilikescifi 2020-04-20 08:19

Oh I just love the character and the lighting effect. Simple but solid idea!

scintillae-creations 2020-04-20 09:27

I really like the main character sprite, he is so nice to look at. My reaction when I picked up the log was "Aaaahhhh, daaamnn that makes sense.", because I didn't notice that light was slowly fading out . Great job!

**TIP** I think that "delayed" jump would make jumping feel more reactive. Compo is really short, but implementing this doesn't take much time. You basically allow player to jump couple of milliseconds after he already started falling down from platform. (This behaviour has a name, but I can't remember it)

zeggamer 2020-04-20 14:33

I feel the game really suffers from a lack on instruction in game. A tutorial level with text would be simple, but really elevate this to the next level. Also coyote jumps and jump buffers would be a great addition.

ironygames 2020-04-20 14:52

I like the acceleration physics in there as well as the light radius acting as health.

As feedback, I would expand coyote time (that is, allow for a greater walking length than the platform looks like). I always felt like I fell off a platform too son. Also some ambient light, even if it's just a bit.

seagull 2020-04-20 15:40

Can you build a web version please? :) For those of us, who have no Windows.

team-prosit 2020-04-20 15:42

@seagull I tried but Unity gives me strange errors and I didn't have time before submission. Is it still possible to add if I find a solution for the web build?

seagull 2020-04-20 15:43

@team-prosit Yes, you can port even after the submission hours. Just can't add any features.

fateaglegames 2020-04-20 15:44

The game looks lit :fire: Platforming controls are nice, but it's almost too hard because you don't see anything. Checkpoints or lives would be a cool addition. Overall good game :)

team-prosit 2020-04-20 16:31

@seagull I don't how it is possible but the webGL build succeeded even though I haven't changed anything from yesterday. Now it's possible to play from the web page in itch.io. There is the link among the others.

Great combination of game mechanics, good graphics and sound.

henriquecanella 2020-04-20 18:05

Nice game, really liked the idea of getting the wood trunks to increase the light

ilya-nazarov 2020-04-20 19:03

Too hard for me) But graphics, music and controls are nice!

lorne 2020-04-20 20:24

Great platformer! I did have some trouble seeing enemies from time to time. Not sure if that's intentional or not. Keep up the good work! :D

manimal 2020-04-21 14:53

Too hard for me too. My last LD was also about the hard play. Its just not the way how should gamejam games made. If you want to present a features just add short level or checkpoits. I was also want to check the unity 2d ilumination the glow looks pretty good.
