SUPER snappy, delicious combat. The subtle screenshake, the smoothness of the movement and shooting, the fact that the enemy health is proportional to their red size... the fact that they drop their life essence so literally, as if you're watching some bacterium die under a microscope... everything comes together to make a simple, but extremely SATISFYING combat experience!
I would definitely be interested in seeing this concept expanded upon. Bonus points for apparent controller support!
Edit: Just reading now that you made all the graphics using canvas calls! No wonder it felt so dynamic; that's super impressive.
Edit edit: I am for real still playing this. Super engaging. The boss explosion is heckin glorious.
Nice game. The combat is satisfying and I like the visual style, screen shake, direction indicators, etc. Good use of the theme, with both defense and feeding.
On the other hand, it was a bit too difficult for me. I had trouble killing all the enemies fast enough sometimes. I got the boss down to 10-20% multiple times, but never beat it. I'm curious to know if there is more after the boss, or does the game end? Also, after playing about 10 games or so in a row, my browser (Firefox) seemed to slow down to a crawl, which doesn't normally happen when playing HTML5 games, so there might be some issue there with memory not being freed up over time.

@drachmor thanks for your awesome feedback. I am glad you enjoyed it. Maximum juiciness was my big goal this time and it seems to have played out.
@stanleygray sorry about the difficulty. I know the boss is hard but decided to leave it to make it even more satisfying when it explodes. No idea if it is possible with gamepad (not for me), but with mouse the trick is to constantly shoot the boss and kill the small enemies by moving so that they are between you and the boss ;).
There are a couple more waves after the boss, introducing a faster enemy.
Also I think I know where the memory leak is, once someone points it out it becomes glaringly obvious. I don't think I will fix it for LD, though, since a simple refresh of the tab should clear it. I will add a note in the description. Thanks for reporting!
@rialgar Ah, thanks for looking into that! You shouldn't worry about the difficulty comment, especially taken alone. I know it's borderline impossible to balance a game perfectly. It could be the case that I'm just bad at this type of game and others will find it to be just right. Cheers!

nicely made game! the animation looks really smooth! At first I thought the best strategy is to keep yourself at the center of tri-eyes and shoot in every direction, but turns out its not lol. Nice job!

@foursay I think your strategy is perfect for non-boss waves, that is one reason I made the boss so hard, so that this does not work and it forces you to get moving. Glad it worked

Nice concept with the feed mechanic and cool you added some visual cue for where the enemies are gonna spawn.
Responsive controls, exploasions and a stream of bullets is what I like in games, juicy.
So smoooooth ah! It felt so good playing this! You really nailed the game feel! ^^
All the art made with the canvas wow! nice!! GG. I felt a little lag between when I turn with the mouse or am I just moving too fast for my own good lol

@saucygames there shouldn't be any lag, but there is a memory leak so after a couple of rounds maybe that had an influence.
Also since the bullets take a while to fly, that may add a perceived lag, maybe you have played a similar game with faster bullets before? Or maybe the bullets are just too slow in my game and cause an uncanny valley type of thing.
Wow, what a satisfying game to play. The sound and feedback upon hits really goes a long way. Nothing too complicated, but a perfect fit for the jam and fun!

Challenging but fun game! I played a few rounds with a controller. The way you displayed health was clever. Minor polish like the kickback on the arrow was appreciated and made a big difference in the game feel. Liked the art style and colour choice, it made things easy to see. The sound and particle feedback made defeating enemies feel satisfying. I found the game hard but that's probably just me not being good at the game. Great job!
This is good fun! There's so many nice touches like the dead enemies corpses staying behind for so long and the health mechanic is an excellent idea that forces you to go out from your safe bubble.
The simplicity is Fantastic! Good use of screenshake! All around pleasant. had to refresh a couple of times because of the memory leak, but it still played gorgeously while it played. The boss fights where pretty difficult, i developed a stategy for the first one, but the 2'nd one, while the green enemies are spawning, it gets me every time.

@kekkodude yeah, I put the second boss in last minute and just checked that I can beat it WASD+Mouse, but at that point I had become pretty good at the game  . Don't worry though, you didn't miss anything, that's the last wave and there is just a 'yay, you won' text after that.

@seriouslycrunchy actually the corpses stay forever, can you guess where the memory leak is?
