LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Lollihop by Hemuuuli 2015-05-07T04:51:00

I loved the art style and the humor of the game! I do think that the perspective was a little weird, though. It was difficult to tell how far away the moving platforms were, and the tutorial signs were hard to read at that angle. I also think it could have benefited from some invincibility frames when the player gets hit by an enemy/sheep. Whenever I got hit, the enemy would keep moving towards me and hitting me over and over until I fell off the level... Still, it was a great entry and very clever use of the theme!

Glitch Gun by zerocreativity1 2015-05-07T04:35:00

I love the idea of a glitch gun, and the fact that it did different things as you progressed through the levels. There were some cool puzzles, although it could have benefited from sound effects for more effective feedback. The game also kind of felt like it just ended, so maybe a transition between the final shot and the end screen could help. Nice work and adorable art!

I like the mechanics, but I think it could have benefited with introducing the mechanics more slowly, through smaller tutorial levels with specific goals. Since this was a compo entry, I'm sure it just came down to a lack of time though. You said this was your first time working on a 3D game, and I think it turned out very well. The art style with the primitives was simple, but effective, and you did a nice job working within the theme.

You Are Tim by PapaCheech 2015-05-07T03:40:00

Nice little puzzle game, although I don't think it really went with the theme at all. You said the unconventional weapon was time, but the time mechanic wasn't introduced until later levels, and it didn't really feel like a weapon. That being said, I think everything else was well done, and I especially liked the mood and questions the game presented.

Nuclear Autumn by phi6 2015-05-07T03:17:00

Loved the atmosphere, but I felt the design was a little lacking. I was unsure of where to go next several times, and the level design didn't flow as nicely as it could have. Great work overall though!

Ice Cream Fire Fighter by Suyo 2015-05-07T04:56:00

The game took a long time to load and just showed me a blank white screen so I didn't even realize it was loading. When it did load and I was able to get a match-3, the game froze.

The art style was great, and I loved the concept! That being said, I think the controls were a little wonky and the game was pretty difficult. The levels are cramped, so it was difficult to move around without dying or taking damage. I don't think you needed the pushback on the player when they take damage. Nice job, and very well done working with the theme!

Frazzle Dazzle by hexdie 2015-05-07T04:25:00

One of my favorite LD games so far. Great use of the theme, great tutorial, great music, and great hair! The controls were a little difficult at first and took some getting used to, but otherwise, great entry.

An elf walks into a bar... by merzlot 2015-05-07T04:09:00

Very silly game and inventive take on the theme. It was pretty challenging, and I think it could have benefited from some in-game instructions, but otherwise, well done.

Ninja Swapper by Plustech 2015-05-07T03:53:00

Very challenging and fun platformer. The swapping mechanic was lots of fun, and the puzzle design was great. The only thing I would have liked to see is some sort of death animation for player feedback. With everything moving so fast, sometimes I wasn't sure if I got hit or not. Otherwise, great work!

Tock About Time by redbeard 2015-05-07T04:42:00

Very interesting concept, and with the music, it made it a rather relaxing game. I think the game could have included more feedback to the player, especially so the player knows which clocks have more time and which have less. Nice innovative entry!

Remote Access by Eramthin 2015-05-07T03:28:00

I saw you said you weren't able to finish, but even with the few things you can do, I really dig what you were going for. The fact that the console log actually accepted real commands was a nice touch.
