Haha how many different designs are there for the squares? It's awesome! And the little walk animation! I think I don't really got the rules (Score: -2790) but I kinda enjoyed your game!

sroelandt 2019-04-29 17:17

Thanks for your feedback :) The explaination at the beginning are not clear ? You have contracts on the top, and you can see it before start each level. So just look and try to catch the monster who are the most expensive ;)

Didn't really understand at first, but second play I got it. Really nice style, looks good even with very simple graphics. The characters are cute  Good job!

I agree that it was hard to figure out what to do in the beginning. I think I understood it in the end though. I enjoyed playing this!

I like the graphics, really stylish. It took me a while to understand that I can catch multiple monsters with one click and that even click that didn't catch anything costs me a shot, also it took me like 2 levels to realize that those prices are set and visible before the level, I was trying to mouseover enemies and look at the top to see the price of the one I have just mouseovered. But after realizing how it works it was really enjoyable. I had to think a little bit to see the connection with the theme but I guess it's like your (monsters) life is a currency right?

Nice little boxy dudes! didn't understand why the clock stopped when I still had time left - is there just a maximum number you can catch on each level. Good work anyway and nice to see Haxe being used +1.

sroelandt 2019-05-01 11:50

@paul59: On the left, you have the time and your number of shoots. If one of them drop to 0, the level is stopped because you can do nothing more ;)

Fun little game, I just wish the instructions were a little more clear~ On my third playthrough I understood what I had to do though. It does get interesting when each square has different design, and I like what happens when you pick up the TNT ones. I had a score of -1520 at the end, it's quite hard, in a good way.

Would have been nice to have sound effects. Still pretty good for a compo game!

I really like the simple but effective graphics. Struggled with the goal of the game, but still a nice entry!

really liked the concept of the game,n tried 3 time before reaching positive score at the end xD

Brilliant concept. Top marks for Innovation here! Excellent little Compo game

I ended up with 920 at the end, but I got the idea quite quickly.

This was really fun. I was challenged to keep the positive score, very much enjoyed the game. Got especially hard when they all became the same colour.

goosyberry 2019-05-15 11:32

Fun game and implements the theme in a nice way :)

psiv 2019-05-15 13:28

Really cool, innovative concept, I think this would make a really fun couch co-op party game!

Evaluation...

1 - Mechanics and Learning: I believe that the ideal will be to introduce the game more slowly so that all audiences can learn to play without having to read much text.

2 - Flow: I initially felt distressed at not being able to fully understand what the game expected of me, over time I understood some patterns and became more interested in the game (hence, unfortunately, the game is over, hahahahaha).

3 - Narrative and Polishment: The narrative is simple, I was able to capture the general idea (which links the theme of jam to mechanics). I felt a lack of feedback (especially when I did something wrong, when I did not know how much time or resource I had, both in terms of image and in terms of sonority).

4 - Culture: I think the game could be very interesting if expanded, with several stages for each new creature, greatly increasing the playing time. With ranking stages for players in a world ranking could yield some generation of community. Extending the assets to cover some cultural spots could also go against some niches.

5 - Monetization: I imagine the sale of the complete game, the sale of attempts that would increase alone over time if not acquired or even (in case of many players) the use of advertisements.

I enjoyed to play it through, and would like to play again! Great entry, thanks for inspiration!

sebity 2019-05-15 19:18

It was a fun little game. Initially I wasn't sure what I had to do, but after playing a couple a levels, it started to make sense. I liked the simplicity of the design, while still providing depth. You should continue with this project, flesh it out, add sound and polish. Very good entry. Well done!

Amazing game! At first I was not expecting the TNT to be so bad, so I failed with -1500 or so, but the next three times I finished at around +500. I couldn’t find a chameleon at all, maybe this part should be made easier?

chuckeles 2019-05-20 15:41

It took me a while to figure out the rules. Great game! Simple and fun. I only found one downside – the whole game is played with a mouse, I would appreciate if I could also click in the menu instead of having to press ENTER.

hunttis 2019-05-21 12:45

Really cute cubes, I don't even get why :D Maybe it's the animation. A bit confusing on why each level ended (I ran out of ammo, they should maybe be a bit more prominent in the UI).

Like it was mentioned above, clicking should probably progress the menus, because you don't do anything else on the keyboard :)

Nice work anyway!

atomfox0213 2019-05-21 15:23

Pretty good simple game!

yopox 2019-05-21 15:27

I had a lot of fun, the core gameplay idea is excellent ! The TNT is way too punitive though haha  I think something is strange with the pixel font, it looks a bit blurry, you might wanna check [this](https://github.com/andryblack/fontbuilder)…

Please port this idea to Android :p
