I liked the game very much! You made very good use of this single mechanic. Especially the level design is what eventually makes this so great. It doesn't really fit the theme well though. And sometimes I was confused about what button pulls and what button pushes. But good job
Polished game, well done! Impressive jam game. The game gets difficult very fast though and I need to constantly put my mouse outside of the game window because otherwise a flower gets black and then I can't see clearly if the flower under my cursor is a white or a red one. But those are the only points of critique I can think of. So that really means that this game concept is very well executed by you in this limited amount of time !
Really cool entry. Nice concept. I laughed and got confused at the beginning when I started typing
Really great and polished. Loved it
Polished game is this! Nice that you have a narrative with choices and gameplay fitting it. Very good. If you want to make the jumping feel a little bit better, you can give it a variable jump duration (like in mario, the longer you hold the butten, the higher it jumps). But that was just a minor thing. Overall I really liked it!
Nice game. Impressive to make a game in the MonoGame framework. I like the easthetics and overall mood in this game. Shooting also feels good. But it gets really hard very quickly though. And after the screen with the controls I already forgot some controls. But still it is really cool what you achieved during this game jam!
Your game sounds interesting. But now I can't play and rate it because the build doesn't work
Really cool. It is really polished. Especially the audio is what I liked! Only thing is that I couldn't skip the tutorial. I wanted to play again immediately because it is a good game!
Nice game! It has a cool rhytm to it
Cool tower game!
Nice game. The most impressive part is the art! Walking with your character is good. The rendering of the pillars based on the camera view was also a nice feature. Combat in this game doesn't really feel right. There is no impact or sound behind any hit except for number when I hold the button. That wasn't really challenging or interesting to do. Nonetheless great game you made during Ludum Dare!
First of all, thank you for trying out my game. I had to play yours now! The art and music fit each other really well. It has a unique style to it, and that is great! Overall a really enjoyable experience with a great mood!
Cool little game! I like that the fox kind of steers you on the map to the places where you need to protect it. I also really liked the art too! What you could improve: - Jumping. The jump doesn't feel great. It is a guick jump and I don't feel like I have much control over it. - I couldn't see the branches very well. I think they lack a bit contrast.
But you did a really great job with this game. It is quite polished overall.
You can play my game here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/the-harmless-prison-escape @
Good job making this game! I actually like the concept and graphics very much! It reminds me a bit of superhot. The shooting is also solid. What you can improve is feedback to the play. Like impact to everything you do with some shake or other effects/animations. But also making the camera more smooth so you don't get confused when you duck. But those are small details that imrpove everything just slightly. And it is also already impressive what you accomplished for this jam!
Very good first game! Wanted to be my first game. There are still a lot of issues in the game, but don't let that bother you, for a first game and also in a Ludum Dare this is great. Have fun while learning to develop games!
Nice game and especially the art in this limited time! It hits the mark on all the category for me, except for game design though. Because you have the different coloured resources and tools but you don't really do something interesting with grinding the resources. Balancing was also on the harder side I felt. But really, that is just nitpicky of me. Because this game looks and controls very good!
Thank you very much!
Thank you very much!
@Carol03x. It doesn't make much sense indeed! I came up with the game mechanics first to fit the theme and than I wrapped a theme around it art/story wise. But thanks for the feedback! And still great that you enjoyed it
@moritz14 There are still a some more harder levels over c:. And thank you!
@chez3 Nice! Thanks
@gurglesprain Thank you for the feedback! It makes a lot of sense what you said. In an upcoming update I will make it so that you can hold the button instead of spamming it (or speeding up). And actually someone playtested it for me and had exactly the same complaint. So I totally understand. Thanks for playing !
@jetthesimon Nice feedback! The thing about the button input that is too slow and or could be changed, understandable. And also great to hear that this is the best jam game you played! Really really thank you! And really cool that you see room for expandability in this game
I will play all your games tomorrow and also give feedback on them. Now I am going to get some sleep first. Thank you all
@jeremyfa Thank you for playing and also for the feedback! There are 10 levels using this same grid. Didn't explore bigger grids yet. Good point though. Level design was hard. I tried keeping it simple while still making all the levels interesting in their own way. With a slightly bigger grid there will definitely be more possible. I will explore it if I continue working on it. Thank you for letting me realize that!
@jeremyfa Indeed! That would be cool too. Do you think people are interested in this kind of game as a full game with a few hours of gameplay? Just curious what you think
@evert Thank you!
@ryannielson Thank you for the feedback. Great to hear it from someone who also made a puzzle game for the jam. I'll try it soon and are going to rate you! I also think the game turned out easier for my taste. Didn't put enough time into developing more interesting solutions for the puzzles with this mechanic in mind. I will put more time into level design next time. Mixing it up with those kind of mechanics also would be lovely. Will think about it a bit more. Thanks for playing!
@sergeantbiggs Thank you for playing and for the nice feedback! If I continue on the game I can put more thought into the level/puzzle design. I also understand the point about the animations. Because of this kind of feedback I am getting more convinced about making it into a full game and developing it into something real! Thanks
Thank you for all the feedback and for playing my game!
@jupiter-hadley Thank you for featuring and playing my game!
@nova31 thank you for this compliment! @doritolord The game over condition for the puzzle is when someone dies. So you need to keep everyone alive. So the game isn't fully focused on the theme like other survival games, but I still tried sticking to the theme. Nonetheless thank you for the feedback and for playing!
@digitallimestone Thank you by the amazing feedback! I didn't explore all possibilities yet in terms of grid size and amount of units. And I felt that the gridsize limited the difficulty of this version of the game. But there is a lot more possible. There is a limit of course and just adding content in the way of bigger or different grids or higher amount of guards is not refreshing. I already got some ideas and mechanics that can fit the theme of the game well. Maybe I will continue development on it after a while to make it into a puzzle game of multiple hours. I am glad you liked it!
@amkingtrp thank you for the feedback. Indeed, in terms of level pacing it is a bit slow. Good suggestion you have about rotating the units! For the game I had a few other mechanics in mind. For a post jam it is nice to have this list of all possible features
@tayfun Thank you!
The setting, theme, art and sound. All nailed it! Really impressive. The gameplay was fine. I liked the level design especially. I got confused though because I didn't know if I have to shoot incoming meteors. And I also didnt know how I could stop enemies from shooting the big ship. Eventually it turned out that I really liked playing it when I got the hang of it. So impressive game!
