Mad Max surreal road? Everything was good, although it got repetetive reeeal fast!
Love the concept here. Very well put together and coded. The shots SFX were a bit loud, compared to the soundtrack theme, but overall a good compo! Nice guys keep it flowin!
Interesting game. I really like the idea. Sometimes it was a little unclear about what ammunition I have equipped (little too hard to see during the rush). Still great game.
Something about this game makes me smile. It's super charming. I think it's fun, but I don't really understand how the collision detection is working, or if it's working as intended? It seems like I can fire any kine of ammunition into any other vehicle and it will go away. A little confused, but I had a lot of fun & looped through the level a few times... so that's a good sign of fun(-ness?)
This is the best version of post apocalypse world i've seen recently. Love it.
Wow, I love this graphical style. It's a great homage and you nailed capturing the craziness. Great job!
Hahaha  what a game! I wish I was better with hitting those projectiles and being able to keep track of what food is where on the wheel. But I was having a blast anyways. Sometimes the cars ended up ontop of my own blocking out the view for a while. I also really didn't notice I could look around in all directions and I have no idea why I would need to since I was absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of cars to feed in just one direction. Great game.
This game is completely maaaaad, I want to destroy everything ! And I like it :D
This looks so good and I want to play it so bad, but I'm using linux ;_;
This is my favorite game of yours that I've played so far!! Awesome work man! I especially enjoyed the little voice that announced each item every time you switched. Hearing 🎵**rat stick**🎵 or 🎵**fish**🎵 every time you swapped to that item just reminded me of the absurdity of the whole situation. One thing I would say is that I often found myself facing backwards more often than forwards so I never really noticed when I got to a new level, or that there even were different levels until I saw it one time by coincidence. I just thought completing the 10 orders gave you extra fuel or something.
The art Is also great! I'm always impressed with jam games that have decent 3d models implemented.
This game is great fun! I love the artstyle! The sound are nice! Maybe some variation in the ground would be nice, a solid color looks boring, but the rest is nice!
fun game, fun theme, i could see this being expanded with more jokes and zany stuff. good work.
AHhahah your game is awesome. The graphics are so neat and feels like the Quarantine fps. The music, the sounds effects are excellent and the voices are so funny. Great pace, great gameplay. You did an amazing job !
JAJAJA! Wacky game! I loled quite a bit. Took me a round figuring out that I was *giving* the food to them. Funny noises. Great work
I dont know exactly how to play but it's really fun sksksksk
Definitely feel the Mad Max vibes. Music is very hype and add to the nonsensical chaos around it all.
Nice game. Great graphics and audio. But get repetitive real quick not much content in. Thanks
I love that these tough looking cars order ice cream and cacti 🤣 that was a lot of fun, although it quickly became an overload of cars and orders. Got to level 3 or 4 I think. Amazing work overal, keep it up!
Instant five stars about all ratings guys, never had so much fun on Game Jam!! Character design, music, and gameplay mechanics - extremely awesome, i'm dying of curiosity what will be your next game!! You are grate people))
Intense game, well done!!
It was a interesting and very good looking game, however there is not that much progression so that it can get repetitive. Since this is a Jam Game I wouldnt worry too much about that tough. Keep it up!
Really fun submission, loved the art style, audio design and the slapping theme song :D Awesome job!
I would like to see what you can do with more time as the music is good and the game is fun even though it is repetitive... good work !
Really wacky but so much fun :D great sound effects, and an interesting graphical style (shader? :D) Well done :)!
When the game started it gave me a rush of adrenaline, I wasn't paying attention to my left side when I decide to look over there was a whole bunch of them, it's a very addictive game.
Good job.
I'm big fan of Mad Max universe, so your game hit directly in my heart ! :D The concept is fun, and the music is cool !
However, it seems that there is no game over, indeed, I had no more fuel but I could still play, is it a bug or there is no game over currently ?
Anyway, overall good job !
I should add that after playing this I wanted to yell at every streamer on Twitch playing some FPS using projectiles that they ought to use Food Chuck :hamburger: :icecream: :shrimp: instead of some boring Kovaak's as aim trainer and warmup!
@edalbung So the only "game over" we got in was basically all the cars explode when you run out of time (my favorite part haha) Then it just resets back to level 1 and you keep going, sort of infinite runner style.
@brylamare Thank you for the explanation, I understand well now what happened, I think that I didn't saw the restart to level 1 x) But I saw well the explosions, by the way, the effects were nice !
Great game! Awesome models and overall fantastic atmosphere! Got a bit overwhelmed by the variety of food items and the onslaught of customers. Love the announcer for the different items!
@local-minimum I actually thought the same thing! In the final hours when we put it together I was like whoa, this is actually a fun little trainer..
Great fun! love the look and feel of it all. Wish there was a way to adjust mouse sensitivity and maybe sound settings. But QoL stuff can be hard during a jam. Would just be nice to use for an aim trainer XD
thanks for sharing
The win condition for each level was a bit obscure, and for how tight the shots need to be the gun projectile is really too big. I would have also liked a display for the food available that made it more clear which way to scroll, since your menu was always changing. Fun and well executed tho.
Not gonna lie, that was awesome. I want to be a post-apocalyptic icecream man when I grow up. It took me a while to realize I had to hit the *targets* to deliver items, but once I figured that out and stopped spamming stuff and making crazy people giggle and explode, I was able to do pretty well. Not that making stuff explode wasn't fun too.
This was pretty crazy! An interesting concept! I thought it looked great, played nicely. I do think it was a bit overkill in number of people and how they blew up if you hit them with the wrong thing. Did the game auto/smoothly restart? I feel like I started over without an actual "fail state", just everyone dying and I'm back to level 1. On one hand its a pretty cool way to go about it (no death screen, straight to replay) but I feel at least a prompt letting you know. (maybe I missed it) Now I'm thinking I might have died more than I think! It was a bit hectic! Good game!
Pretty funny concept great job, but the difficulty spikes way too high. Very poor browser compatibility.
This is a nice entry but nothing really changes. It plays very well. I like the setting and the style, like how the level number was displayed. It just needed a bit more variety in order to keep me engaged.
@joh Yep you're right, we unfortunately didn't have time to have a proper gameover but yea, after we implemented it I thought hmm, this could actually work with a few more polish items on it.
The grapchics are cool, also this reminded me of Mad Max =D
Really really fun game. Love the trap-y rendition of the ice cream man song. I also love the very Punk aesthetic that this game gives off. With a little bit of polish this could be crazy.
Nice graphics - impressive set of assets gfx+sfx. But the food carousel/switching is very annoying - maybe something like weapon ring in GTA would be better? Holding RMB slows time, blurs the screen, displays ring with all types of food and player just need to move mouse slightly into the direction of desired food.
This is hilarious and chaotic and the music lmao. Nice entry thanks!
OMG. One of the **best** games I've played on this JAM
WHAT'S WRONG WITH CACTUS YOU PICKY BASTARDS!!? ;)
This was a wild ride, nice job. It's a delightfully bonkers universe, the first couple of seconds I already understood this was in the neighborhood of Mad Max and I was a nutter in a crazy car. The music was a great way to set the tone right from the start. Then the weirdo food orders start coming, and it's a wonderful mashup.
A few important elements of the game didn't reveal themselves to me immediately, but were great once I figured them out - I didn't notice the specific bullseye targets at first, and I didn't realize the audio weaponswitch was actually saying the name of the food. Once I figured those two things out I was doing a LOT better!
...Side note: Actually it ended up mattering that the voice was saying the food names, because beyond being just a helpful piece of gameplay info communicated on a second channel, it also helped me to understand that it was a cactus and not a watermelon. That became relevant after I went a little too far down a google-hole on that folk song and its history... o_O
My laptop's GPU is not great, so it was getting maxed out when the action heated up, and as a result I think I had a choppier experience than ideal. Still totally playable, but I bet the experience is that much better when there's a buttery smoothness to the aiming. With a bit of lag-stutter to my aiming I felt like my skill ceiling was a bit capped.
The introduction of additional food items was a really great way to escalate the difficulty, and the new vehicles gave progression a nice flavor. I did struggle a bit with exactly what part of my reticle I should be aiming with, and it wasn't always clear to me whether I had exploded a car in the success or fail way. I also found myself looking backwards toward the end of a level for more targets to fire at, and as a result usually missed the level rollover graphic that you have to be facing forward to see. I got the bananawaffle level a couple of times, and once I think I beat it but was looking backwards, though I was back at level 1 before I tried weaponswitching around to check for new food types, so maybe not.
Really cool experience, with a nice challenge to the gameplay through the wobbliness of the targets and the switching of food types, plus this crazy hybrid of post-apocalyptic zaniness that really came to life through all of the graphics, sound, and music.
Great job!
the music and the models in this game are fantastic. I spent the beginning of my play spinning around and wondering why i was in this herd of crazy cars and who i was supposed to be shooting with my cannon. Then the music clicked. I am an icecream truck and supposed to be shooting everyone lol. good game!
This was so much fun to play! The sound effects are very rewarding as well! You really worked very hard on that and I apperciate all of your efforts! You can definitely work on that after the event and I wish you good luck!
Creative idea and really fun to play!
Love the graphics: the setting is hilarious, well-fleshed out and the effects are great. Gameplay is unique and well implemented, though as some have said a little repetitive (also sometimes harder to aim than it should). Well done.
The road to hell is paved with shitty food.
Only complaint I could raise is that there may have been a few too many food options later on in the game. On the later levels I found myself doing a lot of searching for the right item, and not very much madly spamming the shoot key.
Great job.
This game is oddly endearing and I like the mixing in of hitting targets with a dining dash sort of twist. I can't really add on to what's already been said. I enjoyed the aesthetic - something about the way the lighting and the design of the vehicles made it seem more serious and post-apocalyptic, but also humourous. The strange altered voices saying what type of foods I was giving to my customers really fit in with the mood, but also was funny because it's weird. I have to admit, even though I enjoyed the strangely distorted ice cream truck theme, it was extremely grating by the time I got into the later levels, or ended up restarting the first three levels however many times I did. It was a good idea, but it also added to the challenge of tolerating the soundscape while concentrating on aiming.
Speaking of aiming, I often found myself having trouble moving the mouse around to aim with the cannon. The first time seemed fine enough, but later attempts made it seem like I was moving my mouse all the way to left and yet I was only barely able to view what was to my actual left. I wonder if there was a way to re-calibrate the mouse in the middle of playing, such that I could reorient my cursor in the middle while keeping the camera view the way it currently is. I also found it difficult to aim at the targets - not sure if there was a good indicator other than the skull at the top of the cannon, which even then, didn't seem to always hit the target specifically.
But despite the frustrations with the controls and my personal taste with the music, I can say that all these elements come together cohesively and give the game an extremely distinct and memorable personality. It hits a very unique spot that is on target, unlike 80% of my shots fired in this game. :joy:
It got overwhelming really fast with all those hungry cars. Like someone mentioned previously it feels like the collision detection is not running correctly, but I may miss something.
Beside of that, its a good looking and really fun game. Well done everyone.
The concept is ridiculously awesome and awesomely ridiculous! The sound effects and the mayhem going on in front of you only add to the fun!
The gameplay gets repetitive after a time and I am not sure if there exists some end level at all if you can just do it forever. It also sometimes felt like I should hit the order target but it didn't register.
Overall, I had some great fun with this game (not sure how it fits the theme, though)! Thumbs up!
Dang this was a super fun game!
The visuals were super well done! I find it honestly hard to believe that all of that content was made in one weekend! Well done! Everything looks good and fits in the style very well.
The gameplay itself is very fun! I love how chaotic the game gets over time. As far as balancing goes, it was very good, but I did feel like it was kind of easy to keep the fuel up. Maybe a consequence for blowing up the other cars or a more quickly diminishing fuel tank would help? Well, better for it to be too easy than too hard!
The audio on this is absolutely killer! The soundtrack slaps, and the voice saying all of the foods honestly really adds to the personality of the game. Awesome job!
All of this stuff really came together to make a solid mood. The game style and personality from every element, and they all serve each other. Awesome job with uniformity between the different pieces of the puzzle.
Awesome job, well done, and an extra shoutout to whoever came up with ratstick!
Good game, even if it does get somewhat repetitive. I liked the surreal, slightly terrifying atmosphere.
