LD46 — Keep it alive

PixelPups by Chilleh 2020-04-21T07:22:51Z

I love the humor and art. It really takes the experience to the next level! The game is quick to understand and get the hang of, and so I found myself having fun with it right away. I think it's great!:)

LAB41902 by khaoz-fang 2020-04-21T04:19:28Z

Totally seeing the theme shine here. The game plays super uniquely. It almost reminds me of the original Prince of Persia game! I like how the difficulty scales, and it does get easier once you get into the swing of it. This is what makes the difficulty scaling here so important! I never feel like I'm playing against impossible odds, but It's always sufficiently challenging.

Really nice work!

Dad's Breath by Jungle 2020-04-21T06:09:19Z

This was awesome. I played for a long time, and couldn't quite figure out what triggered dad to die, but I kept playing it just cause I liked the experience of walking around in the space so much, even after exhausting all the dialogue options.

I don't know if it's tired or what, but on my first playthrough it made me cry. lol

Awesome game.:)

Food Chuck by PeachTreeOath 2020-04-21T06:17:46Z

Something about this game makes me smile. It's super charming. I think it's fun, but I don't really understand how the collision detection is working, or if it's working as intended? It seems like I can fire any kine of ammunition into any other vehicle and it will go away. A little confused, but I had a lot of fun & looped through the level a few times... so that's a good sign of fun(-ness?)

Tell a Fairy Tale by Zesix 2020-04-21T12:53:36Z

Accidental double post!

Tell a Fairy Tale by Zesix 2020-04-21T12:57:43Z

@quacky22200 The music was just imported from the free puzzle music pack in the asset store. It's not a Disney song.

As far as mechanics are concerned, we originally had other things like hiding & jumping, but universally agreed to scrap it... oof. Tinkering with the camera was the last thing we were still adjusting before running out of time. Darn time constraints!

LIFE:anti-viral by whydoidoit 2020-04-21T04:27:53Z

I couldn't get to a point where any enemies would spawn): I think a tower defense game is totally thematic though!

Lively by CJGladback 2020-04-21T05:35:57Z

This is super interesting to play with! Although it does feel more like a toy than a game, I think that this is totally a successful project in so far as it's a fun thing to play with.:)

NOAS by ROBOWARRIOR1982 2020-04-21T07:11:04Z

I like this! It reminds me of a top down StarFox64. I almost wish I could play in the third person a little more...but I guess that would make it way more SF64. It's fun, polished, and I'm glad you included a tutorial. Great stuff!

MicroVore by Eran Haas 2020-04-21T05:47:51Z

This is awesome. I don't know if anyone else can even come close to matching these kinds of graphics. I haven't seen anyone use the VFX graph in a game yet, and here you made it work! This one is definitely unforgettable for me.

Save Me! by BankSho 2020-04-21T06:22:26Z

It felt a lot like a tower defense game to me. I usually enjoy these kinds of games, but the slow reload speed made it hard to consistently survive for a long time. I think it's a great base to add some more mechanics on to if you feel like taking it further!:)

Keep What Alive by Valeth2124 2020-04-21T07:26:59Z

I love the humor, art and general atmosphere. Honestly I hope you continue the project after the jam! I think there's some serious potential in this one.:)

Critical Landscape-Scale Force of Nature by DougDevs 2020-04-21T04:45:41Z

Oh man. I want to play this with friends so bad. I think the art style is adorable, and the gameplay is super smooth! I can't figure out how to control the direction my trees fall in, so my strategy became to just plant as many as possible and line them all up, just one or two bites away from falling. I don't know why, but I'm curious to see how other people play the game! It totally invites some level of strategy, and that certainly makes it more engaging.:)

The Last Cactus by HomunculusGames 2020-04-21T04:01:40Z

Although I can't jump onto the roof of the train, I really like the gameplay until it gets to those two guys who throw barrels down at me. I think fun-ness is one of the most important parts of a game, and the charm & ease of pick up definitely nails the fun-ness here for me. I think it's really good!:)

Space VIP: The Needyon Ambassador by Rein 2020-04-21T05:42:03Z

I want to talk about the mood set up. That lighting and the sound made the game feel really tense for me, but there was some funny cognitive dissonance for me because the aliens are so quirky. I think that made me like the game more. It's fun, but I did need to see the hint to solve the puzzle.;)

The Birb by Ilimanic 2020-04-21T05:31:36Z

I really like the ambiance and environment set up! The gameplay is polished enough, and this is one of the games I never got confused playing! The level was short and sweet, and I think that's a great thing!:) I like how much you set up and fit into one stage while managing to keep everything feeling consistent. Fantastic!

Bullets & Babies by David Bohan 2020-04-21T05:06:32Z

I don't know what else I could say that hasn't already been said. It's a fantastic game! I want to give a nod to the art style and sound. It really sets the mood and brings the experience up from a good one to a great one for me.:)

Dinder Rush by PotatoWu 2020-04-21T05:54:29Z

I liked all of it... a lot. I thought the humor was (although risque) totally fitting. I like the auto-runner concept, and the art is all really well done. It's all super visually consistent, easy to understand, easy to pick up, but challenging at times! Really awesome! Love all of it!

Whiny Slime by HeyNetters 2020-04-21T04:38:26Z

I want to start by saying that I enjoy the experience and the feelings I have when I play the game. It's cute and funny. I think the speed just needs to be bumped up a little, and that might help make the attacks feel easier to connect with enemies.:)

IT!? (need more letters in my title) by Pascone 2020-04-21T03:52:33Z

Super difficult, but super cool gameplay idea! Trying to figure out how to keep as many objects alive was my original strategy, but after losing a few times I ended up trying to keep every object alive that corresponded to my initial hint & sacking the items that didn't fit the description to get ammo, or use them as a barricade. I was never able to get the question mark in the corner though without dying.):

Great unique gameplay!

Little Red Hood by RooftopDog 2020-04-21T05:24:32Z

I'm blown away by the ambiance y'all created here. It's super immersive. The enemy creature is terrifying, and the restricting movement and initial light restriction really amps up the tension! This kind of stuff makes me super excited about playing a game, and this is an awesome example that shows just how important atmosphere is in a game! I should also not fail to mention that it supports the restricted gameplay!:)

Hostage Savers by ZER0-GAMES 2020-04-21T07:24:50Z

Don't quit!:) I hope you learned a lot & I wish you luck in the future!

Soulbond by JazzatheFOSS 2020-04-21T05:18:10Z

I enjoy the gameplay a lot! I think including an SP bar that regenerates as fast as this was a great call. It's restricting enough for puzzles to be interesting while still letting you use combat abilities relatively freely. You really nailed the balance here!:)

Saving His Life by shayan_ebz78 2020-04-21T06:36:05Z

I liked this! I think there's a fair balance here. It's hard to tell where enemies are shooting from or where they're spawning, but crouching made the game a lot more manageable from a difficulty perspective. Can you regenerate health? I thought that I noticed that I was able to tank a lot more shots after hiding for a moment. If this is the case, I think that's a great inclusion, and a mechanic I haven't seen much of in awhile. Fun game!

Souls Keeper by Not The Loading Screen 2020-04-21T07:19:57Z

It's not bad at all! Making it to the next map startled me because I thought it all took place in one scene. Nice ambiance and quick to pick up. Nice job! My only gripe would be to pull the camera out just a bit, but that's hardly a complaint.:)

Son of a Liche by goblinkingmatt 2020-04-21T04:12:58Z

I think this is my favorite in terms of how it actually plays. It's unique, funny, and the aesthetic fits everything about it! It's also really fun to break by drawing stuff everywhere. I think this is worth mentioning because most games aren't fun to break.;) I think this is currently my favorite one I've tried.
