It's hard to attack, and the player is kinda slow. Didn't get too far in this one I'm afraid.

The art and music was great! The sounds were perfect and reminded me of the Adventures of Lolo for some reason. It wasn't clear exactly what was happening and it would have been nice to see the life of the slime or something. I punched a lot of guys but then when the slime died I think the game crashed.

I've got mixed feelings. On one hand, the art and music are really well done, and you've packed a lot of character into slime girl considering PICO-8's limitations. I honestly have never seen a character in a PICO-8 game be even close to her level of personally, and the dialog system was really well done. That being said, the gameplay could be improved. The walk speed is at a snail's pace, and the run speed should should be the walking speed. Also, aligning the attack is really difficult as @supergamersgames has mentioned. Please make a post-Ludum Dare version of Whiny Slime though that has more polished gameplay! The game concept and character designs are very well done, it is a very memorable entry. Regards, -Elnu

I want to start by saying that I enjoy the experience and the feelings I have when I play the game. It's cute and funny. I think the speed just needs to be bumped up a little, and that might help make the attacks feel easier to connect with enemies.:)

The art and sound is really nice. As most other people already said... The walking speed could be faster and the attack radius a bit more forgiving.

I agree with a lot of the other comments. The controls/gameplay was difficult to navigate, but the graphics and personality was great! The dialog system really made the characters come to life.

Great game! Loved the character talking. The art was really good for pico8, and I really liked the pixel start effect in the splash screen. I'd say that you should do away with walking though, and make running be the default.

Thanks @lambdanaut, glad you liked it! The walking pace is actually tied directly to the speed of Slime Girl, and lets her keep pace with you, while the run lets you get around more quickly to strike at the bugs. The slower pace is a key part of the design. She's like a child that rarely does what you'd like!

This game is an allegory for parenting. That's how I pitched it to Ava. Toddlers don't go fast, they don't do what you like, and you just have to... press on.

Cute Pico-8 beat em up. The art and animation is really nice. I like how the levels get more slime and slime tubes as they go on.

I found the flying enemies a little hard to hit because of misjudging their height. The flowers were really annoying because they have a huge range and shoot immediately after landing, but once I got the hang of the game, I noticed that they can't hit you if you keep walking.

I wish the button to advance the dialogue was the run button instead of the attack button because I would end up mashing through the text while fighting. She repeats most of her lines enough that this was often fine, but there seemed to be a couple unique messages that I missed.

@rhiz Thanks for the feedback! Also, you can punch the flower seeds. It's tricky, but it works!

The slime dialog is so critical to the flavor of the game, we'll make sure that in future versions, the message stays up longer!
