LD46 — Keep it alive

Coalesce by James Dunlap 2020-04-23T02:22:42Z

It is a decisive title. I love the overall idea but the theme is a bit far fetched to me. There are some bs Multi Damage parts that where frustrating to play through though. I like the gameplay and design overall quite a bit.

Whalestrom by aevek 2020-04-23T02:14:40Z

Controls where a struggle. Picking up that first item was a test of skill beyond imaginable haha. I liked the look and feel, sounds where super cool, Idea and everything worked a charm but Unity has it so easy to implement multi inputs (for example your fire button works on my XBox controller, by accident I assume) that there is no excuse to have made it work for a controller. The mouse steer did not seem to work for me at all.

Its a bummer, I would've loved to vibe with the whale for quite some time as well! Overall great work guys, you can be proud!

We only had 36 Hours to Jam. There are some bugs that prevent things from showing up, J is for attack or you can use an XBox controller!

Thank you so much @maxathon ! We had a lot of Stuff on the first day, but our Team was torn apart and we ended up scrapping an idea and lots of assets. Sadly this game was supposed to have a mechanic where you had to tend to your plants frequently but could upgrade them PLants vs Zombies style so they help you defend them easier. Oh and there is no Boss monster, sadly.

Raiders of the Rural Realm by SpiRiTs 2020-04-23T02:51:31Z

@causalpigeon I agree! There was a plan on a building mechanic, where you would place defenses and walls so they where kind of placeholder.

Raiders of the Rural Realm by SpiRiTs 2020-04-23T02:52:42Z

@adamv Thanks a lot! The enemy variety was what killed the other Gameplay mechanics though :smirk:

@patatenouille Thanks for the Feedback. Jeah time kicked our behind so hard, after we had to scrap the first game. Combat was only a temporary method of defending the Garden, there where other features planned that we simply just couldn't make in time, even with 8 hours of sleep in 3 days.

Raiders of the Rural Realm by SpiRiTs 2020-04-23T03:05:10Z

Thanks a lot @adnonymous5! The Ai was being a pain. Implementing the tower defense mechanic was too much, so we just focused on getting what we had at least playable.

@guitarbro Killer Feedback! I had a sprite done for the dragon, where he fit much better but it didn't work at first. ( When we had 1 hour left. ) Glad you liked the Audio, even though all of it was done last hour, during Upload time haha.

@amazura I think that is a very valid complaint. The bushes where planned to be destroy-able and drop hearts.

@perpetuummobile Thanks! As mentioned before, we ran out of time and tried to make what we had as interesting as possible with the limited mechanic we could implement.

Raiders of the Rural Realm by SpiRiTs 2020-04-25T09:37:29Z

Thanks @nikchernyakov ! This one is a new Feedback. I shall take this into consideration when doing my remake.

Raiders of the Rural Realm by SpiRiTs 2020-04-27T11:40:07Z

@fabian-g Jeah overall Feedback so far suggests the Combat seems to be an issue. Due to lack of time, we couldn't implement the weapon pickup mechanic. (You were supposed to get better weapons along the Gameplay loop, like a sword that has a bigger radius or a spear that has better range.) So after all we were stuck on the worst weapon and didn't make it good enough.

@natasza Thank you so much for playing! :)

@tanapat To be honest, we didn't think people would want to replay it at all, right away. We noted this.

@darthnumbers Thanks a lot! Had I had more time, I could've made better sounds and music but overall for 1 hour of work I do like the music and sounds quite a bit! :)

@keppu Haha that is awesome! That was the wanted reaction towards the Dragon :)

LAST HUMAN by GuitarBro 2020-04-23T03:37:21Z

Very fun, this might be one of the few games I'd replay. It's very nuanced! I liked the sounds, they fit well although mixing was a bit off.

Open Fire! by Amazura 2020-04-23T03:22:21Z

Really cool Idea after all. Very focused and to the point, loved the little story that was going on.

Slimekeep by BenBonk 2020-04-27T11:33:06Z

A fun little game you got there. What I liked: The graphics where pretty clear and nice, everything being green got me those gameboy vibes, but also... Everything was green and it was sometimes hard to spot Slimes spawning. They don't appear to hurt you in their small state so it's ok. The overall Loop was kind of smart, having these hordes follow you and pull them towards a choke point to obliterate masses of them with the void felt satisfying.

What I didn't like: I personally didn't like the music all that much. It feels too unfocused for a single looping track on a score Attack game. It sorta feels just like you put in random Notes into a program and went from there, while what you actually needed was a catchy melody that is both predictable but interesting. Again, the green screen. I liked it and disliked it at the same time. If you'd have incorporated a more clearer signal of Slimes spawning I wouldn't have anything bad to say about it. The screen zoom feature feels op. It should make the gun inaccurate and be more responsive to feel warranted as a game mechanic. (At least as a suggestion.)

Bugs I found during gameplay: When you place a void right as you die, the score goes up as long as the void is killing Slimes.

Peculiar Farming by Arcus 2020-04-23T02:02:43Z

I played for about 30 minutes, here's my Feedback:

Graphics: Sprites are good, the background colors are kind of distracting, they don't harmonize all too well.

Movement: Feels a bit sluggish, there is no player Feedback on anything apart from the Water bucket filling and emptying. To me, this would've made a lot more sense with no player movement and a static screen, apart from the Water mechanic. I can see this as one of those management games like O-Game or Republic Online.

Sound: I like the Piano track, it's catchy and fits the chaotic/random nature of growing Toucan plants haha. Some SFX would be nice to give player feedback on whats happening, but I understand that this might be the last thing one works on during a Jam. I had an hour to create them all and implementation bugged out last minute.

The strengths of the game: Definitely was fun growing yourself a Toucan selling empire haha. Cool creative concept, that fits the Theme quite well. Good work!

Remember, Apollo by AdamCYounis 2020-04-23T03:30:24Z

Very polished overall, loved the twist at the end. Fantastic, art and clean Gameplay feedback. Theme was used ooookayish to me, you seem to be remembering something, but there is no way (at least in my play through) to fail. It's definitely more of an artwork than a game to me.

Guardy_Bird by Matootsy 2020-04-23T02:38:13Z

I rate this one highly, presentation is pretty good and satisfying, I laughed my rear off, figuring out you could make the humans disappear in the sewers the first time haha. Very nice work!
