Great intro screen, nice music. Well done!
Good job it looks really cute. You did well keeping the scope small and making it fit the theme. One thing though, when I played the honeypots were invisible but I still played until I got 11. Then I re-opened the game and all the sprites were invisible. So there's some kind of bug. Anyway congrats!
I really like the core mechanic here. It's simple, but leads to interesting gameplay as you're forced to decide which areas of the screen to control. I surrendered half the screen, and then lost more and more space until I got boxed into a tiny column, scoring 178 on my second attempt. The bear's movement feels strangely slippery - probably in part because there's no walk animation. Good work!
Thank you for the feedback! I appreciate it all!
@teronk I'm glad you liked it (sorry for getting back to you so late)!
@stellarbeargames: I have no idea what that bug was sorry, it never appeared to me during testing. Thanks for playing!
@piscythe I am happy that tactic of surrendering parts of the screen came into play! I understand about the movement and will keep that in mind for future movement mechanics. Also, amazing highscore!
My daughter played this game and she enjoyed it. Perfect mobile game should you wish to continue it. Art was simple but good. Sounds was okay. Music felt pleasant. The bear movement felt a bit too slippery.
Good job.
Nice game!
@tgiant I am glad she enjoyed it! Thanks for the feedback!
@pedrocoden Thank you!
Nice Music and pretty pleasant Graphics :) The Hitboxes feel sometimes a bit...weird.
At least Sometimes I didn't understand what hit me.
But overall I had really fun with this little time killer :)
@tunahead Thank you! There is definitely some kind of bug when the honeypots hit the ground but I didn't have much time for this jam unfortunately to fix it. Anyway, thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you had fun!
Nice, pretty simple but cute little game! Cool use of the theme, the looping beehives made for some interesting emergent gameplay - I quickly realized that it's impossible to get all of the honey, so at some point I had to give up on the sides of the screen and just focus on getting all the honey towards the middle in order to preserve a safe area for me to move around in. Interesting how the difficulty sort of naturally goes up in that way. I also had the bug where the sprites were invisible at first, but I restarted the game and it was fine. My high score was 89. Nice work!
@adhesion Thank you for playing! I'm glad that technique for doing well is coming into play. Nice highscore as well!
Simple and sweet. You say you didn't have much time to work on it, but it looks like you did what you set out to do. Regarding the "slippery" controls some of the other commenters have mentioned, I make the script set the rigidbody velocity x = input axis x * moveSpeed, then you can make it more less slippery by adjusting the gravity of the input axes.
Nicely done.
@sheldonzs Thanks for playing and for the information on altering the controls!
I liked the bright colors and music of the game, and thought the overall concept was nice. I ran into a few bugs when playing the game, though: sometimes the sprite graphics would not display at all. I was able to play through the game a couple of times, but found it seemed to end kind of arbitrarily - then I found on the next time I started the game (I had to restart the game to get back to the instructions), that the honeypots turn into beehives when they hit the ground, and the game ends when you hit a beehive - that made some sense, but then I realized that I wasn't seeing the beehives that were being spawned from the fallen honeypots. So, nice little game, but has some bugs that limited the gameplay for me.
@tomhunt Thank you for the feedback! I'm sorry about the bugs. I still haven't been able to recreate the bugs (although the game may end arbitrarily because a honeypot that touches the ground just as you touch it may be ending the game). I hope you enjoyed it!
Played a few runs and its simple but fun! Smart innovation with the beehives, not only does it fit the theme but it also makes it way more fun and adds a strategic element!
I will also have to mention a couple bugs I found (that others have already mentioned). First run I tabbed out of the game and when I came back the bear, honey and beehives were all invisible.
Second one is like @tomhunt says, to do with honey turning into a beehive at the bottom of the screen so you get hit and lose a run if you miss a honeypot by a few frames.
Good entry though!
It seems like the sprites aren't rendering which is a pity because it looked really promising. Good choice in background music :)
This is a very cute entry. At a certain point the music stopped looping and I was standing in a small column just collecting points. Are the beehive hit boxes larger than the honey pot? I believe if they're the same size I could probably stay in one spot indefinitely.
Cute game!
Too bad the honey and the beehives were always invisible to me... I couldn't get any to appear even once. This had happened to one of my previous games, and the reason ended up being a sprite that was too big for embedded laptop GPUs (like the one I'm using now), so maybe the resolution of your sprite is too big, making it not show up on low-end graphic cards.
Interesting fact: if you open the game and just stand still, you can simply wait to get as much honey as you want. I'm now at 203 and counting. So maybe you should think of a way to force players to move the bear.
@jam373 @evangreenwood Thank you for the feedback and advice! @tex-killer says the sprite issue is to do with the graphics card and my sprite being to big (thanks for letting me know Tex Killer, hopefully I can fix that).
@mrtroy @tex-killer Yes, I think you're right: you can stand still indefinitely. I would probably add a falling item that cannot be disarmed by collecting it to force players to move around more.
Thanks again everyone!
I had the bug with the sprites not being rendered too, but after some alt-tab it worked.
I see you're using Unity, are you sure you did set the honey and beehive SpriteRenderer "order in layer" higher than the background's value?

The game is nice and fun. As it was said before, it's frustrating to lose by missing honey by a frame, that changes in place to a behive.
The visuals and audio fit well together and helped creating a nice mood.
Good entry!
Keep up the good work! Nice game with good gameplay and good visuals. Overall I enjoyed playing it!
@rolly Thanks! I looked into it but couldn't find the proper version of my game project as I had moved my files around (but I'll keep your idea in mind). Thanks for the feedback!
@melvinng Thank you!
