Very clever and hilarious use of the theme

tero-pulkkinen 2020-04-20 13:28

your html5 version is giving "cannot read property 'length' of null" and the game doesnt start.

ioan-pop 2020-04-20 13:28

Loved the music! Also the double take on the word "keep" was great, I didn't even think of that!

mehrdadsh 2020-04-20 13:32

good game man

fun little game i loved the pun a bit hard to beat the catapults.

seagull 2020-04-20 13:36

Ahahaha! Never expected to see a walking Keep! Good job!

It feels like turtling / standing is too slow, so not sure it's worth it. But by the time you stand up catapults are shooting again. So you are damaged approx the same no matter what you do. So, maybe make them shoot slower, (but do more damage) that it's possible to mitigate it by defending.

mad-scientist-carl 2020-04-20 13:48

Yes, slow animation is exactly expected. You should have just enough HP to get to the end. use defend sparingly and just charge, and you should die right before the end.

It took me about 10 tries to win this, and I am the dev :smirk:

I don't know what's happening with the null problem... I tested with my machine and a few others with Firefox, Chrome, and on x64 Linux/Windows. Try downloading the executable version

The way the castle moves is pretty cool

bereg 2020-04-20 17:00

Wow! That was unexpected! Really cool premise, and cool game for the first time!

baby-dino-herd 2020-04-24 02:59

Managed to win at 8%! The slow animations were quite helpful at forcing a choice about when to defend and when to march forward. Love the music and, of course, the punny name. Well done!

pincushion 2020-04-25 12:31

This was fun. I thought that it was balanced well. It probably took me 10 mins to get the timing right to beat it.

I love the walking keep - though I imagine that everyone who was inside is now dead.

Since the walk is pretty slow, it might have been good to have some type of progress meter.

Loved it XD perfect take on the theme, the victory song was awesome too :).

Nice work!

catomag 2020-05-03 13:12

The sound design for this game was stellar! Couldn't stop smiling.

theshamo 2020-05-03 15:19

Very nice entry. What an original way to adapt the theme. Good job !

lmb 2020-05-04 00:33

The music is quite good, actually! Sounded medieval and stuff

Otherwise, a simple game that works, no obvious bugs, etc. I'd say it's a nice entry for a first!

mad-scientist-carl 2020-05-04 00:42

Thank you @lmb. Glad you recognized (perhaps subconsciously) the Dorian scale I used for music .

andrfw 2020-05-04 00:54

I love the use of theme. I was able to win by just holding down the D key but that might have been because it was lagging?

mad-scientist-carl 2020-05-04 01:09

Interesting. You should not win by just charging... You should technically die just before. But perhaps that is just due to start timing...

domrein 2020-05-05 04:20

I like the play on words. Good work!

emperor-eagle 2020-05-05 11:03

Funny game! Well I won! It was interesting to play and the theme job was obviously hilarious (a play on words like this gets a high theme rating from me :). (Obviously it's humorous too!) Halarious graphics but some more depth in the victory requirements would be good. What I mean here is some more difficulty when you invoke the defence method, and even some way to fight back? Cool game though, I remember seeing it in the blog feed during the 48 hours and wanting to see how it turned out (and the answer to that was good)! Overall, good job and keep it up!

chtimy 2020-05-05 11:10

Ahah funny game ^^ Just the animation to protect yourself is too long compare the shoot rate of the enemies. And the difficulty is too easy but very good idea!
