LD46 — Keep it alive

WKAM: Western Keep it Alive Mission by Aggrathon 2020-04-21T23:48:37Z

Interesting Game, neat concept of a strategy style turn-based board game. I had fun with it, Good Job.

Keep Morality Alive by adriczero 2020-04-23T02:21:31Z

It was interesting, a different way to think about a typing game. Decent use of the sound effects. in reality I made it to the 5 level twice by simply typing the words over and over again as if I was writing it in detention lol. I think there was too much going on in the screen to actually keep your eyes on all of it. Maybe think about ways to make it there be a better way to keep it from being a button masher. for instance having a delay before the enemies on the bottom spawn or only letting you get each letter to move after another one is already safe up top. or giving the player tools to help defend the letters/balloons. Nicely done on the game.

Burndown by Symnel 2020-04-23T03:00:10Z

I think you have a good Jam game here. Its simple, but fun. You had nice lighting effects, and particle FX for the fire, good touch. However I feel there are several things (besides more time) that could have helped your game. For instance, fixing the move animations when he walks 1 way or the other, quick turns left the torch hanging out of his Butt, lol. and walking down and left or right should probably have the player facing the left or right sides as they walk. Also some extra things to do or heads up that the longer the night goes the faster the fire burns out. Or maybe it just seemed that way to me, but if true a bit of warning or balancing would help fix that. Over all, Well done, Nice Job.

Dodo - A Dodo Game by theforceluke 2020-04-23T04:48:28Z

A wonderful lemmings style Herding game. Great graphics, nice music, and good humor with the sound effect for them, as they hatch, die, and nest. Very fun to play and beautiful to look at. Great job. I have a few things I think could add to game, maybe some way to trap a few of them in temp cages to be able to manager a bigger heard of them. The cage button could also have a max on screen number and a time limit that counts down in some simple form like a 2 color circle that one color slowly overtakes another to represent the clock. Also some other on screen mechanics that can lend themselves to be more puzzle like in how the player handles or figures it out. You could even have a level where the whole purpose is to setup as many different ways to try and Not keep them alive, might be funny and fun. Most of these are just ideas, but the game was good. A very fun and creative game. Cheers!

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-04-23T14:53:25Z

Great Jam game, I loved the life find and transfer mechanic of the game, and the shooter style was fun. I did not make it past 4 min 37 sec, but its was good. I was thinking it might be neat to get or find rare items from some bigger bad guys like maybe a defibrillator to help restart the heart when its near 0%, might be a neat item. Or the the player can get 1 chance to use a defibrillator every like 3 mins or something. Over all a good game, Nice Job!

Dance Dance Unicorn of Magic! by Kagerowo 2020-05-02T16:01:06Z

Interesting game play idea, Love the art work, and the music was cool. As far as game play idea goes, i liked the concept, but felt lost in the slow pace of the shoot ability at start. Maybe there is a way to make different difficulties so you can have a faster gun at start for a better challenge. But good Jam game, nice job.

Shelter the Flame by Frozen Spirit 2020-04-23T04:30:19Z

Over all a nice Jam game. I liked that your character could go right and they wrapped around to the left, that really helped with the players ability to get to where the rain was the worst. The sound was a nice touch for both the rain and the ghost puffing up the flames. I think there are several points you could do to make this better... 1. The sound was WAY to loud, I had to turn my speakers way down just to bare with it while playing. 2. The game needed some music to add to the ambient rain sounds, so it doesnt just drone on. 3. Maybe throw in some other things the player can use, even if they are only temporary to help hold off the rain. (examples are like a cardboard box, that either get soggy over time or catches fire after a time.) 4. Maybe some boasts for the ghost, speed or 1 shot big flames for 3 sec or something might be neat. 5.Lastly maybe a player High Score being displayed in an upper corner so the player can try to beat their best time.

LudumBuster by gramozilho 2020-04-23T05:41:11Z

Nice jam game, fun to play, and had a between level little background from the boss. The music was great, the graphics and mechanics were good. I did notice that I got stuck on the menu screen when i went to the credit screen i had no way to go back, maybe add a back button there, But other than that well done!

Goldsmith by Nocity 2020-04-23T05:34:25Z

A great little micro management Jam game. The pixel art and animations were great. It was simple to play (Click click click) and enjoy. Loved that you adding in 3 endings, and kept the game restarting for the player to have a chance to complete them. Nicely done. I would love to see a few more levels put in there to see what you come up with for more mechanics in harmony like this level. /Cheers to a great Jam game!

Keep It Alive by DoctorTM 2020-04-23T05:57:20Z

A neat Jam game you made here. It has some cool mechanics to it, i enjoy the challenge of trying to explorer within your time limit by supplies (torch). I think the ambient sounds were a nice touch, and the graphics were good. However it is not super clear to a player how to keep things going. If you had a bit more of a tutorial (besides start screen) or a slow progression that could ease players into it. Say for instance the Tempt starts at a cool temperature and as time goes on it get colder and colder. That may help the progression a bit. All in all a good jam game, Nice job!

Cable Guy by sorko 2020-04-23T03:14:56Z

Well done indeed. It was very nice the way it had a Mario feel, including jump style sound. The animations were good, and the endless cabling was great in style and animation, well done. I enjoyed the challenge of trying to get from one to the other without ever actually knowing where to look, it added a level of discovery to the game as well as the pressure to make the player go faster as much as possible. I will say it would have been nice to have gotten a bit of music to Help propel the mood and atmosphere to the next level. Also the controls while simple enough to catch on, i do not believe them to have been very user friendly. if you used A&D having the F key next to D to connect the server was slightly irritating. I switched to the arrow keys to help out with smoother game play. While that helped, i still believe it made the controls feel almost janky and uncomfortable to play. I would gladly do up to about 8 levels of that doing a longer game would have simply gotten too uncomfortable with that key set. Over all so far 1 of the best jam games i have played and reviewed, Great Job.

Cold Front by chrismcco 2020-04-23T13:23:06Z

Well done on making a FFXIV style card game, love that game (but usually lose, lol). The sounds are great and the animation is very snappy. The pixel art is good, and the AI is pretty good too. I think the game could maybe use a bit of BG music to help the mood of the game a bit. And maybe in the future a PvP or Player v AI option would be cool in the menu screen to let the player choose a single or multiplayer game. Also a maybe a thermometer some where on screen to let you know how cold/hot it is depending on the cards on the board, as a visual aid or just a visual gimmick to add something for the player to get feedback from. Over all a very nice Jam game, Good Job!

One Alive At A Time by MorandiGame 2020-04-23T05:10:45Z

A fun little game, the graphics were nice, and the game play idea of switching the movable part is a clever idea. Good job on this, and submitting. A few bits of feedback, not negative just info. I felt the fire sound was a bit harsh/loud. i laughed a few times at losing the banana through the cracks of the wall >.<' lol, maybe seal them up. Also if you push an object past the finish/safe zone it will fall endlessly without always showing you the try again and being able to restart. If you get stuck (& I did a few times) there is no way to restart the game, I recommend a hot key for that like "R". All in all a great jam game, nice job and keep at it, you can only get better!

No Time to EGGsplain by NyanYann 2020-04-23T04:18:37Z

This was a wonderfully challenging game. The physics were spot on fantastic, the parallax of the beautiful background pixel art added a great depth to the environment, and the sounds were sufficient to give the player a bit of game feel to hear the actions had a way to keep you aware of your eggs movement as you navigate the stages. You had some very nice staggered stages to show the players all the possibilities, and give them different levels of challenge. I applaud the game, and its developer.

That said, I have to say the mechanics to have you move the cart while pretty well balanced as a buildup for movement were good, but the mechanics for when in the air (including if any of the wheels left the ground) were backwards and not at all intuitive. They gradual way the cart spins clockwise or counter clockwise was not balanced for this game. I sometimes felt like i was playing "Getting Over it with Bennett Foddy", in how rage inducing the odd cart spin could be. Funny at time but enraging at over times. Also a possible neat feature maybe a zoom out on the screen when the egg goes higher than you can see to allow or fool the player into trying to catch it. Just my thoughts, Cheers to a good game.

Lab Rat by Maxathon 2020-04-23T06:12:35Z

Great jam game, very fun to play, and it had good pixel art. I like the micro management style of the game play, and the humor when you tried to observe the specimens. I did notice that all the buttons were not immediately understood by me. I had a resolution issue where I could not click OFF of the specimen tank at the bottom, but I did eventually figure out you had an escape key built in for that, Well Done. Game looks and plays well. ^^

I am Dog by Craig Cordeiro 2020-04-23T02:48:33Z

I thought this was a good sims style activity game, having to carefully manage one aspect that each have their own pluses and minuses. I would have like a few hints here and there on what the dog need or wanted to do to help them. And some sounds or music would have given it another dimension to add to the mood of the game and help the player better enjoy the experience. Over all good Job, nicely done.

Botanist Blitz by BrokenCogGames 2020-04-23T14:15:19Z

Good job on making a fun little micro management game. I enjoyed the concept and game play, the Music and sFX were spot on and entertaining, the mechanics were simple yet fun, and the progression was a good curve. I honestly could not get past stage 5 bottleneck, though i tried and tried. welp from what i have played here are my thoughts. For my feedback i would like to suggest a few things ( i am sorry if others have said this before I didnt read the comment). 1. The angle at which you have to be to connect with the plants and water spout are a bit rough, especially on advanced stages where time was crucial. 2. the x shaped stage has a misplaced drowning Death trigger in the middle of the platform on the sandy area. I died just stepping near it, but none of the stages before had that sharp of a danger spot near the water. Botinist blitz-sm.png 3. The bees area nice touch as a repeatable obstacle to slow the players progression or make them plan their moves. However I feel there could be something like a Stung timer or visual indicator to help the player with visual feedback of their actions and the consequences. 4. Add a feature like extra items/tools to help the gardener, even if they are temporary buffs, like a temporary pesticide or speed boost or something for later could give the player a increased engaging experience. 5. maybe its different per device, but WASD did not work for my laptop.

Over all a very good jam game, Well Done!

Crates N' Gates by HireMeDeveloper 2020-04-23T05:25:43Z

A good little Jam game you made here. Some interesting idea of how to apply the theme, time management with a explore theme. I like the BG music, and the sound effects got the job done. I like that it seems like, or might be, that the world is auto random generated, as well as the randomness of the crates and whats in them. Fun little challenge runner. I would think it might be cool to add in some screen UI to give the player an idea of the bonuses they still have or the time limit until they run out, the bandage and speed boast come to mind. Just a fun little jam game, Nice job!
