Hey, played your Game till the end and had a lot of fun. The longest cable i lay was 179 meters in Level 2 i guess. Horraaay to all the Cable Guys out there.

Had fun with this one. Maybe PTSD due to working in IT. Like the sound effects, they fit well and the overall polish is super! Well done.

Hahaha such a funny concept. I found the "Secrets" confusing tho

nirose 2020-04-20 11:51

The controls feels off, but it liked the concept.

james-7777 2020-04-20 11:55

I love the physics of the cable and the way it moves around haha. Very fun. The jump was a bit clunky but otherwise it all works very well!

ytaha 2020-04-20 14:27

Great idea, the cable physics and servers exploding makes the game feel much better. I will sure go check the code for cable physics :P Got stuck for some time at the last level but managed to figure it out :) Jump feels a bit weird, maybe make it work like mario, celeste way. The longer you hold, the higher the jump.

siryakko 2020-04-20 20:34

Liked your game, the cable's physic is really fun, sometimes the control are a bit difficult, especially the jump, it just don't respond. But really dig your game thanks :)

zypo 2020-04-21 00:45

You ended the game at just the right time! Great concept, and I loved how the cables got longer and longer! The hidden walls got challenging hard, but it was ultra satisfying solving it! Just a fun platformer :) Thanks!

igoreshka 2020-04-21 19:18

Good job. One of the best games I played this ludum.

shigure 2020-04-21 20:10

Liked the game. Didn't really like the controls, they felt very floaty and jumping felt awkward. Is there any point in there being a length to the cable, or was that just for fun? Execution is pretty good, but there are some level design flaws.

sorko 2020-04-21 20:21

@shigure Unfortunately had no time for there to be any difference in cable length :( I was going to implement something with longer cables transferring the load slower, but due to running out of time had to go with the simplified version of just making equally powerful links between the servers.

kevinworkman 2020-04-22 05:17

This reminded me a little bit of Unravel, I could see you taking the wire mechanic in that direction. Nice work!

vaanrile 2020-04-22 09:27

Really great game ! The concept is excellent, and the execution is pretty good as well. The cable physics make the experience very enjoyable, and the level design is also quite interesting. Concerning the controls, I do not think that putting the interact button on F would be the best option (maybe the Enter Button would be better, since it isn't right next to the moving buttons ?), but the rest is satisfying. Great experience overall.

sorko 2020-04-22 10:31

@vaanrile Thanks for the comment! Regarding the controls you are right, enter would've made much more sense since mouse is not used.

Fun puzzle platformer. The physics of the cables was great, and worked quite well with the overall theme you had. I loved some of the graphics, especially the server overloading explosion. The controls were fairly good overall, jumping could use some work but is always difficult in a platformer. I felt like I ended up running off of ledges quite often when I expected to jump, and the jump height/velocity curve felt off, probably because I have been playing too many games (real world physics are a curse). I liked the speedrunning style of the puzzles, the first few levels really got me into the game, but the hidden passages really did not do it for me, especially drops that I could not see coming and fell into dozens of times as I could not tell where they were. Perhaps some subtle visual cue that was easy to miss but when noticed gave some reference would have helped. Great concept and good execution, not everything can be tuned to perfection in a game jam. Well done!

Those traps made me angry, but they doesnt make the game worse, i liked it a lot, the cable "management" was awesome. Funny concept. The sounds also matched. =)

hoyr 2020-04-23 02:58

Pretty good over all I liked the cable physics. Had some input issues with jumping though that maybe a user issue. Most annoying bit was the hang time at level beginning I couldn't seem to skip past it. Traps/secrets maybe could be hinted at better visually.

axefall 2020-04-23 03:00

I liked this idea a lot! Very unique to other 2D platformers that I have played before. I really appreciated the cable generating effect, I can tell that took some time to do, top notch! Keep up the good work!

shaolin-dave 2020-04-23 03:10

Funny concept, I like the reference to LD always going nuts when it's under heavy load. Resetting the time with new servers was a good "checkpoint" system. platforming mechanice were basic but good enough.

Suggestion in case you plan on updating this, maybe you could work the cable into a mechanic for movement? Like you can use a cable as a rope to reach certain areas?

jarithius 2020-04-23 03:14

Well done indeed. It was very nice the way it had a Mario feel, including jump style sound. The animations were good, and the endless cabling was great in style and animation, well done. I enjoyed the challenge of trying to get from one to the other without ever actually knowing where to look, it added a level of discovery to the game as well as the pressure to make the player go faster as much as possible. I will say it would have been nice to have gotten a bit of music to Help propel the mood and atmosphere to the next level. Also the controls while simple enough to catch on, i do not believe them to have been very user friendly. if you used A&D having the F key next to D to connect the server was slightly irritating. I switched to the arrow keys to help out with smoother game play. While that helped, i still believe it made the controls feel almost janky and uncomfortable to play. I would gladly do up to about 8 levels of that doing a longer game would have simply gotten too uncomfortable with that key set. Over all so far 1 of the best jam games i have played and reviewed, Great Job.

sorko 2020-04-23 11:44

@Hoyr Yeah that's and excellent point, will have to work out some way to do this

@shaolin-dave I was playing around with the idea for using cable to move, but had to drop it due to time constraints. Definitely plan on doing an finalized edition where everything is better, and definitely will include this mechanic!

@Jarithius Yeah, should've definitely dedicated more time for getting the controls right. Went with the initial set, and never came back to it.

convg 2020-04-23 13:39

I like the concept of this game. It's pretty well implemented too. The controls are good but maybe the jump needs some work. Nice job, it was really fun.

codyhansen 2020-04-25 23:55

I was concerned at first that it may feel like other platformers, but I was impressed by how wrong I was! There is a polish to this game that makes it feel a cut above. I felt challenged by each level while never feeling completely frustrated to the point of quitting. Plus dragging the cord behind me added a sense of fun to the situation.

Great game!

kaeveris 2020-04-26 08:46

Very original concept! I like the artstyle and animations! I like the feeling of making the cable longer and longer and how cable's physics worked. I feel it would be better to bind different key than F (being next to D which made me missclick couple times) to connect cable or maybe make cables connect to servers automatically

scott-steffes 2020-04-26 12:40

Excellent addition to regular platforming mechanics. It was really funny seeing all that cable get wasted. Sometimes I forgot to press F and screwed up my server chain. Maybe being able to shoot cable to places you can't get to would be fun.

100th-coin 2020-05-11 17:06

Ooh! I really like the wobblyness of the cables. Cool stuff!
