excellent graphic!! good job!

rektorgladowski 2018-12-04 15:25

Graphics are excellent, I like every game about light :D

raivk 2018-12-04 15:35

Thanks for the feedback on graphics @joker-v and @rektorgladowski :) !

ilseroth 2018-12-04 15:55

The game looks good, the shaders used look good so I guess those tutorials did ya well. Also the sound was pretty good and fitting. That said, the smoothed mouse look is so sluggish it feels really really bad, combine that with the character kinda feeling sluggish as well just makes you feel like you're playing the game immersed in gravy. This led to a lot of frustration just with moving around and shooting, and really just killed my desire to play any further then I did.

raivk 2018-12-04 16:09

@ilseroth yeah we spent some time trying to make it less sluggish, but well... I think this kind of player controller isn't the best for this type of game... Well anyway that's a lesson we've learned (and the ludum dare is for that : learning and having fun while making a game !). Did you try to press left control to lock yourself in the air while fighting ? The unlocked movement mode is intended to travel fast ! I'll try to take a closer look at the player controller script and see if a less "smoothed" mouse look might do the trick :)

vincent-blot 2018-12-04 18:24

Hey ! Let's start with bad things : The mouse sensitivity is quite annoying at the beginning, found the game long to reach the end, and seemed like some spells weren't so useful, after testing the others I bought the first one everywhere. But the rest is great, liked a lot the graphism, the sound were perfect for the ambiance and not overwhelming. The UI is top quality, interesting concept with the core at the middle. Liked a lot the moves of the character aswell as its design. Yep , nice dude :)

raivk 2018-12-04 18:37

Oh my god... Thanks for the comment, didn't had enough time to test it yesterday. I FORGOT A COMMA. I HAD SET THE SMOOTHING TO 01 INSTEAD OF 0.1. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

mitch-cutler 2018-12-04 23:34

Graphics and audio are awesome. Game seems really great. However, I couldn't seem to keep the player in the air. My mouse direction didn't seem to affect the y axis. So it would inevitably go to the ground and kill me. Could be an issue on my end, not sure. Definitely will keep an eye on this one. Great work!

ruddgasm 2018-12-04 23:35

Once I got over how floaty the controls felt, I had fun playing. I really liked the atmosphere of the environment and the effects were pretty cool. It did feel like most of the time I couldn't make it to a generator before the enemies. Movement is kinda slow in comparison to them. Overall, great graphics and a lot of fun to play.

raivk 2018-12-04 23:49

Hey there @mitch-cutler ! Thanks for the kind comment ! We're sorry that you had some problems with the Y-axis..! Usually you should automaticaly hover about 1-2 meters above the ground. Y camera axis is bound to Y mouse axis (simple third person camera controller). However, you can't fly above the pit, you need ground under you ;) (but you can stay locked in the air (sentry mode) while holding left ctrl key !) Were you playing on mac / linux ? If yes it might be a bug related to these port of the game... We have no linux / mac with us to test it

jonas-tyroller 2018-12-04 23:50

Hey, great graphics and a cool concept for combat. Like it. The controls would feel way better if I had full control over the camera.

raivk 2018-12-04 23:51

Thanks @ruddgasm ! We appreciate the kind words :) Yes the controls are... Kinda floaty :s we tried to make something new, but it still was fun to make so.. we're happy with it ! Experiments with new player controllers are always cool :) But anyway, next time if we make a game shoot-oriented, we will be sure to avoid floaty controls ! The problem you had with movement speed might be related to the run feature. Were you holding the shift key to boost ? You can go as much as 3 times faster while holding shift ;)

raivk 2018-12-04 23:59

Thanks @jonas-tyroller ! Glad you liked the concept for combat, it started with the idea of a magical magnum gun, and it... Became this ! With more spells to choose it might be even better, we may make something from this idea in the futur.. maybe ! Yep the camera controls are.. weird. We spent a lot of time trying to make them better, but had a hard time... We might need a more tight camera with simpler movement. Anyway, thanks for the valuable feedback, it means a lot for us, and we learn so much from everyone here :D

yaen 2018-12-05 00:06

Hey, cool game! Looks really pretty and well polished. Getting to this level of graphical quality in a game jam is quite an achievement. I especially liked all the VFX.

I felt pretty weak though which is why I stopped playing. My damage felt too low, my character too slow and the enemies too hard to hit and too strong, especially for the beginning.

I like the concept of the rune rotation combat mechanic. Lots of potential there. I wish I could have unlocked the spells more quickly so I could experience what you did with this mechanic.

I feel like there's no reason for a smart camera here. Simple, direct 3rd-person camera control without any blending or automatic adjustments would have done the trick just fine. Right now it was really difficult to aim which reduced my enjoyment of the gameplay.

Overall good job, especially on the audiovisual side. The rotating combat mechanic should be explored more.

giustitia 2018-12-05 00:09

As everybody say, sensitivity is a bit high, but the overall is goooood! It may be a good game for VR :O

suny-gdc 2018-12-05 00:15

The graphics and audio are great! But, the controls were nice along with the camera work until the "recoil" on the fire is harsh. Trying to aim was definitely an issue (it seems that was figured out though). The bigger thing was fun, maybe it was the recoil which made me want to stop. The theme interpretation was also really interesting

mitch-cutler 2018-12-05 00:18

@raivk oh! then it was just me not getting it and being a dummy. I thought it was a flyer orb and I could go anywhere. Sorry about that. Gonna give it another go!

raivk 2018-12-05 08:26

Thanks @yaen @giustitia @suny-gdc for the comments :) nice constructive feedback is always welcome !

morriss 2018-12-05 13:22

Not at all an order of magnitude,I like the graphics and the overall feel:)

saering 2018-12-05 13:40

It was fun playing, but it took me a too long moment to get used to the controls! The camera is pretty hard to get used to, too. Despite of that this is a great game and the graphics are super cool! Also, I would avoid too much text in menus, it's not really appealing !

thiago-andre-as 2018-12-06 09:01

really good job with mood. Music and visuals are great! It was kinda hard to aim at enemies. When they were right in the pointers middle, shoots missed. Or it's just me being bad at fps mhahaha. Great job!

raivk 2018-12-06 09:02

Thanks @morriss @saering @thiago-andre-as for your kind comments and for the valuable feedback, it means a lot for us :D

vivien-fargette 2018-12-06 10:14

Cool game with great graphics and music. I think that an aim that would be the same for the 2 click would be better: it is rare that 2 enemies are exactly at the exact places of the 2 cursors and the 2 cursors felt like it was only to point the area where the shoot could go (so you had to place the enemy you aim at the center).

Overall, I liked the concept of a light that is everything (your health, you money, ...) and, once again, I loved the graphics and music

designernap 2018-12-06 10:40

Great presentation and mood. Lovely visuals and striking art choices. A little hard to control and not sure why there needed to be a "death drop" either side, it doesn't feel like it adds anything. A little slow for a tower defense style game but I think that is just a matter of balancing. Nice work.

fenixdev 2018-12-06 10:54

Since every one has already pointed out the camera issue I wont say anything but good job and congrats on getting this solid result.

merdeboi 2018-12-06 12:35

Wow impressive game. The camera was a bit harsh on your aiming, really hard to move and shoot where you want. Great experience overall.

budark 2018-12-06 13:45

Fun graphics

squaredev 2018-12-06 13:54

Amazing graphics and music. I had some troubles getting used to the controls and to aiming since the sensitivity was pretty high (I didn't notice the warning in the description :joy:) Overall a very nice spin on the theme and a fun game.

xorboo 2018-12-06 14:06

All negative things were already said before me (controls, duh), so i'll just compliment excellent visuals and audio one more time i suppose, can't believe a 2-man team managed to do all this in 3 days :3

anna-karpova 2018-12-06 16:58

good graphic๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

linear 2018-12-06 16:59

Game is very nice looking and the music is good, but the mouse sensitivity, combined with the really, really slow fire rate, made it very frustrating to play-through. There's no affordable upgrades before the first wave, and by the end of the first wave, I only had enough light to spend repairing the generator that went down because I couldn't shoot the enemies fast enough. So yeah it definitely needs so balance, but there's potential there. It looks like with a bit of tweaking it could be something great.

acuriosity 2018-12-06 20:11

So the controls..... movement I can live with, it was tough to get used to but was fun and floaty after a bit, I liked exploring the high ground... But the aiming just has too much going on, I feel like the sacrifice made is movement or accuracy, even the slightest movement of your character requires so much mouse compensation... so i tended to get close and then play as if i was a stationary turret.

Other than the controls(mostly aiming) its beautiful, atmospheric, cohesive.... If I could aim I would spend a lot more time in this little world... Well Done!

raivk 2018-12-07 09:29

@linear did you switch to turret mode with the left CTRL key ? It enhance your fire rate while sacrifying your movement ability ! But yes indeed the game needs a lot of work on balance :) thanks for the feedback !

@acuriosity we're glad you liked the movement (after a some adaptation time indeed), and sorry for the inconveniance on aiming ! It's quite sensible..! And yes the combat is meant to be done in turret mode with the left CTRL key ;) you lock yourself in a sweet spot, you aim more precisely + you get a much greater fire rate ;)

Thanks for the kind comments on graphics and sound ! We spent a lot of time on this and we're super happy that people enjoy it !

acuriosity 2018-12-07 14:54

@raivk looks like ill have to give this one another go later today, totally neglected to enter turret mode.... Doh!
