The game is quite good, but there are small flaws that immediately catch your eye. The main one is the inability to change the character at any time. If a character is already in the process of an action, it becomes impossible to change him to another, you have to wait for the end of this action and then only change. The music is not looped so from the end of the track we play in absolute silence. A big plus is convenient and responsive game control on the gamepad P.S. It would be desirable to make at least a minimal visual designation of the selected character.
@dna-prob Super good feedback. It really just came down to us not finishing everything we needed. We were down to the last minute. We will make some of your suggestions (and a of other updates) when time allows. Thank you very much for playing. I Will have to be sure to check out your game when I next stream.
Starting off with the critiques, the main issue I had with this game is the Input lag. I will say that I played on keyboard, so part of it could be down to this. I felt like the response time between pressing a button and having the character move were two entirely different things. Same goes for switching characters. Brushing that aside though, the controls for attacking and jumping were entirely fine and I never had an issue.
The artwork, score, and little gameplay twists with the gelatin travel points were all incredibly well done. Props to your team for pulling this off!
@anchorlight hard disagree. while the game has 99 problems...input lag is not one. maybe your computer not working well or something.
@josephdevelops Well, the input lag I get is highly inconsistent, so you're right in that it probably isn't coming from the game itself. When it lets me, the input comes out frame-perfect; other times, I can't stop or can't start the character's walk for a few frames. It's weird, and definitely not how Unity normally handles.
It might be WebGL, or it could be WebGL specifically on my system (I run Linux now, so not sure if that makes a difference-- this is way out of my field of expertise.
ohhhh your on linux!!!! @anchorlight .... Ya we have not thought about Linux at all. Only mac and windows. We did use a very untraditional form of movement... which works better than unity's default IMO. I could see the way we use delta time and stuff working less on unity. Super valuable feedback @anchorlight. Thank you. Also for anyone reading this... I'm not just being mean to this guy. I have a repour with him, and we have known each other prior to the jam. ... Also looks like we got our first review... all one-stars! ouch!
@josephdevelops You can see reviews? If you mean the Ratings Received, I believe it's only counting total reviews.
@anchorlight at the point I commented... we had only one rating received and it was all 1 stars.... It was a unique point in the game's history haha. :D
@josephdevelops How do you check LD ratings? I didn't know you could see them early.
@anchorlight this is getting beyond the scope of our page... I'll PM you right now.

I kept accidentially activating the "jelly elevators" :P So an activation button or a longer timer on activation would be nice. I had a similar issue in my game with the upgrades so I can feel familiarity on this. Quite a powerful music track, which is a good track, but gets progressively louder which can become an issue sometimes having to lower volume mid-game. I could imagine coming from my accidentially low volume game to this loud game. :D Speakers/Earphones break. But overall really nice entry and surprisingly deep puzzle-like action gameplay! Great work!
Thanks @roikku
haha what a trip. never looking at ice cubes the same way again
Pretty impressed! You managed to design some interesting levels, and the movement felt pretty good. Awesome game!
Very nice entry! I loved the art and the interesting puzzle mechanics. The animation controller and player controller could use a little work, i often got stuck in an animation or couldnt switch characters. Solid submission, looking forward to seeing these ice cube ladies again!
I enjoyed the concept of playing with two characters and having them help each other progress. The keyboard controls were a bit clunky, but I guess the game was designed for a controller. You could've omitted the pushing mechanic, since there was nothing in the game to push. The music was enjoyable, but for some reason kept turning up in volume. Hope you keep working on the game, has a lot of potential :)123.png

Quite innovative, a great addition would be to see which character you are controlling right now, otherwise you have to test it with movement. After all, I enjoyed playing the game. Very cool fighting animations btw.

Wow, how cool are these animations and sound effects, the art for this game is amazing!
Oh, nice mentioning of **the theme** there, very subtle ;-D
So the first time there is this door that toggles between the upper and lower areas, I killed this thing and for some reason that dropped the door, then my green character got stuck forever and I had to restart the game. This seems like a bug?
The visuals are awesome and the music is cool. The cut scenes really remind me of the good old days :-)
The controls give me the feeling of not being in full control. I cannot switch characters until they are steady on the ground, I know why you did this programming wise, but it would be nice if the transitions were smoother. Along with that, some kind of visual or audio feedback as to which character is the active one would have been great.
Man, I really love these animations. The levels are clean and simple visually. The background graphics could have beem more advanced given more time than a jam gives you, I see you have the ability to create really cool pixel art and I appreciate that a lot.
Finished the game, yay! Everyone is happy again :-D
This is a really cool game, everything fits together really nicely. What a great job, congratulations on this entry and keep up the good work!
Very nice game, the only critique I have is that the game prevent you to jump when the character is in the "pushing" animation, a part from that I really enjoyed it! good work!

I really liked the idea. At first I though it was going to be similar to the Fireboy and Watergirl type 2 player games, but the character switches really give it a different vibe to it. Unfortunately that mechanic also needs some fine tuning, I mostly had trouble recognizing which character was selected and ended up dying to that quite a lot. Regardless a fun idea and seeing more puzzle levels in it would be very fun.

Great game! arts, music and controls felt good. Animations even better! No big problems for me. The only slightly annoying thing I found was that you go back up when returning in the jelly by accident, but heh not even a big deal. I wished they were more puzzling interactions between the two characters but 72 hours.. we all know. Bravo again! thanks for sharing your work!

Cool game  ...minimalistic graphics and music worked to get mood of a legacy console game. I would have liked a bit more puzzles and maybe a bossfight kinda thing but it's hard to fit much in such short time.
i love the animations!
Interesting mechanics, good level design and graphics. Only issue is the lack of indication of which girl is selected.
Cool game, looks really nice. I had fun playing it. The lack of SFX and character switch indication was noticeable but I played it to the end. Great work!
the whole company laughed very coolly)
Love the animations, and the Single player - two characters mechanic is awesome. I don't really have much to add that hasn't already been said: * Indicator for which character is active * Swapping character mid action/elevator would be a good addition (esp for speed running) * Sound effects would be great, though understandable under time conditions ;)
I think you've got a great idea going here, and would love to see where it can go!
The level design was really well done. I'll have mostly the same feedbacks that were already made:
- being able to swap mid action would be a nice addition - press a key to use the elevator instead of just running into it as you do not always want to use it - visual indicator for active character but I think it becomes less important if the switch can be done anytime as you know when you switch characters
Great game overall, the gameplay was really smooth aside from the switch and I really enjoyed the cutscenes
Enjoyed it for the most part and completed it. My biggest gripes were pretty much the same as everyone else's - the collisions were a bit dodgy. I think a big improvement would be some sort of indicator of what character is the current active one.

I love the game, story is funny, graphics are old-school good. Especially liked the intro graphics. My only gripe is controls are a bit unresponsive also I wished there was some kind of visual feedback when I switched between the characters. Other than that, great game, good job!
Well... that was a trip-and-a-half. Fun, though! Concept is the best kind of ridiculous.
love the concept and characters. Art and sound could use some work

Cool idea! The biggest problem is that it´s very hard to succesfully chance character. If player moves just a little, they can´t chance character. Graphics and main mechanic is good tho.

Nice concept and execution. I have some suggestions. I believe that collision triggers are a bit too big, there could be an indicator which character is selected and jellevator should be activated with a key. Also it should be possible to switch characters at any time and not having to stop first because now it feels like game doesn't respond. Other than that it is solid entry, just too short. :D
I love the smear frames on the animations! Superb work on the graphics. The story is amusing, and I like how the deeper you go, the less frozen everything becomes. Cool game, I made it to the end, where you meet up with the meatballs. Nice work.
love the tune, and the cut scene presentation - though it could really use that flashing triangle games use for text boxes that are waiting for you to press the button.

Creative approach to the theme! Nice puzzles, I liked the idea of controlling two characters. Animations are also cool, loved the jump-attack. Good game!

I had so much fun playing this game. The story and the music are really good.
The late 80's/early 90's cheese in this is wonderfully off the charts. Not just in vibe and design but to segue into a pun, the cheese-cake of it all. Skimpy gals that are cartoon versions of ice cubes is just, it's just so silly and great.
Movement is pretty solid, it's a little iffy in some places and hit detection could be tweaked a bit more. I'm surprised the characters have a pushing animation when there's nothing to push/use that with but it is nice extra animation which makes the characters feel more alive. The greatest thing in the game to me is the feel of kicking, especially kicking in the air. There's something very satisfying about that and I almost think you could make an entire game around that/fleshing out the combat.
The only crit I have for the game is the lack of SFX, especially with the regards to switching character. Some kind of animation along with sound effects would have really signaled when you had switched character, at the very least some SFX would have done a really good job of that. It's minor though, and if you polished it more after the jam I think wouldn't be too much work to do. Perhaps you could even add some goofy 80s saturday morning cartoon style voices for cutscenes too, food for thought! (meatballs in this case :D)
Overall solid entry and great job.
Impressive amount completed during the jam, good job.
Oh my its creatively hilarious, funny story behind it. The refrigerator isn't complete without the old bag of peas.
Pretty fun. Good use of the controlling multiple characters concept. My biggest criticism would be that the game is too easy. The puzzles aren't very thought provoking and the combat is not difficult at all. Though I did like the fighting game style attacks.

I just finished this game! Really funny and weird idea, but the level design is really good!
I liked the vibe of this game, very humorous, great job on putting it all together.
I really liked this hilarious concept for this year's theme. I went into testing this game without reading the description of the game. Very unique. Great job guys. The gameplay is very responsive and intuitive. Can't wait to play another game your team designs.
the dialog was great lol, lucky for me i had my ps4 controller close by and i was able to play through with that like recommended. overall the game play was solid

Here's a link to my vod from when I played it on stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1004348513?t=24m57s
Interesting take on the theme. Sometimes the controls were unresponsive. Could use some input buffering or something.

Nice graphics and animations. The puzzles are cute, and interesting mechanics.
I really liked the story. It was bizarre and funny. Right up my alley. The switching between characters felt pretty new. It was kind of like playing one player mode in Unravel 2, except the players are never in the same space. The mechanic is pretty cool, but it felt like you didn't get the time to really milk it. I found the gameplay to not be very challenging, and I think given more time you would have found a way to make more interesting puzzles or combat.
Like some earlier comments, I would have liked some kind of audio or visual indicator of which character is active or at least when I switch. Also, the platforming mechanics could use some improvements. It felt like the pushing mechanic got in the way for example.
Overall though I enjoyed the experience.

Ty for the meatbal...- i mean game!
I loved the game, except for the bugs mentioned above, this one of congratulations, I hope it continues to give continuity to this project and improving more and more that the logo will come up with good results, because a good part is already well underway, just missing a bigger polish, a big hug, and await your feedback on my game I will be grateful.

Hey very interesting game. Some times I couldn swap the characters, I dont know why, I had to press E several times to work! You could add some sound effects, it will sounds great for you game, music is fine. But hey, just a tip, maybe to not sexualize girls in a game! Your game it would be so much aprecciate for the other! I liked the mechaninc and also the graphics. I hope the girls finded the meatbals. Congrats for the game!
I just wanted to take a second to say thank you to everyone for the feedback on our game. I think one of us have tried to play each of your games. This jam has been a truly memorable experience.
I've decided to release the assets used in this project for free on itch.io. Assets are ready to be downloaded by all: https://mauigamestudio.itch.io/platformer-assets
PS: Don't forget to follow my itch. I have a lot of great projects coming up.
