LD46 — Keep it alive

Aviarium by AidanMarkham 2020-04-23T17:21:04Z

amazing! breathtaking! this is staying on my computer, after the event, it's like a little poem! the music fits the game perfectly!

i have no suggestions, this game is perfect.

Checkmate by CharlieMrl 2020-04-22T20:28:47Z

how the hell did they have that many pawns?? :) awesome game! really loved the way you could move the king, and would love to play an actual game of chess this way :)))

Hostage Savers by ZER0-GAMES 2020-05-12T19:21:24Z

Damn. One hour before the rating ends and I find this. As a portal fan, and as a general non-euclidian physics fan, I salute your effort. I spent a long time on this game, despite the recurring crashes, it was great fun, and I truly encourage you to keep experimenting in this field. It's awesome that you even attempted this mechanic, and awesome that you continued to work on the game after such a serious set-back.

Great work and hope to see your game again next time!

DEEP LD by Atikyne 2021-05-18T19:51:09Z

last minute rating! great stuff. maybe some enemies, or obstacles could be added?

Burrow by frnknstn 2021-04-27T10:56:32Z

very cute game! It took me two attempts to successfully store the food, but i did it! i love the noises, especially the one for storing. is that a yeet noise?

Clean it. by Hexa3 2021-04-27T09:43:35Z

cool idea! it can be hard to make a game if you're the only one in the team. maybe gather some friends next time. Overall, i liked the concept and humor. dont lose hope!

Dark waters by antoined73 2021-04-27T10:00:04Z

very calming. there seems to be a limit to how chunkey you can become... i found this out by becoming it. would be neat to play this as a multiplayer game, i love the diving mechanic.

if i had to point out one problem, its that it can be hard to distinguish which level each fish is on, especially if you dont eat the fish above you. maybe the levels above and below could be blurred or made more transparent?

great stuff.

The Whisp by Kilian BAPTENDIER 2021-04-27T09:07:45Z

are you still trying to upload? looks interesting.

The Whisp by Kilian BAPTENDIER 2021-04-28T05:12:45Z

It looks nice. Better luck next time ig?

That Song by Juh Champ 2021-04-30T09:19:28Z

Wow. this has feeling. the concept is really strong, ig it could be improved by more of it being made from scratch, e.g. textures, song, etc. it would be interesting to do the same thing for other songs too. I love the overall story, and read through it many times. also, i got so confused by the ground... is it moving everytime i walk, or is that an optical illusion? am i walking on snow, or is it clouds of forgotten memories? my fav 48 game so far, keep it up!

It's about to go down by Marcus Otterstrom 2021-05-01T08:44:57Z

cool graphics! I agree with newrybenson about the bullets, but i liked the speed at which it got harder, and it felt very balanced if you avoided shooting when possible. maybe some other powerups could make it more exciting, or slightly adjusted controls (so you can go in corners, or in the middle (in hindsight you may be able to do this and i just didn't notice)) overall, cool game with pleasing graphics, would be nice as a mobile game.

Endure The Unknown by Edvcel 2021-05-04T11:09:23Z

Wow this is great! I found myself thinking about strategy and risks: do i need to explore further and hope i find oxygen, or should i move the camp... etc. You could tell that lots of effort was put into the system of panels, on the subject, this project was really refined. lots of text adventures tend to set up a dodgy combat system, which can suck up so much development time, and just ends up confusing for the player. This game however, knew it's aim and perfected the features it did have. nicely balanced, interesting, and really goes with the theme.

The only tip i can think of atm is the way you present your game: you have screenshots, which is great, but the title page should make people interested, instead of scaring them off with a wall of text and rules. Most likely, they won't read it, or will just try out the tutorial (which btw, explains everything just fine.)

Great job edvcel!

Deep Survivors Guilt by Krebzor 2021-04-27T08:14:47Z

Love the art style! The planet physics doesn't feel quite right, but is easy to get used to. My favorite part was the ending, where the space dog was being fed dehydrated broccoli. that sound... not very delicious. :)

The rate at which the difficulty increased and different aspects were shown was great.

The music was a little loud for a game about the desolation and loneliness of space.

Overall, I loved it!

Linguini's Adventure by Washington Irving 2021-04-27T07:58:37Z

@brutor Nice life hack :) If you want to try speedrunning, you can compete against my record. I think it's around 1:26 https://drive.google.com/file/d/19uZKCssCV1zi0AK0bnMl3e2GrrR8bPvj/view?usp=sharing thanks for playing! :)

Linguini's Adventure by Washington Irving 2021-04-27T08:45:00Z

@vivien-fargette thanks so much for spending time writing all that! I agree with what you said about the final level, the jumps are really hard. You are able to jump from a block for a fraction of a second after leaving it, maybe that helps. If we ever do a post mortem, this feedback will be our checklist. :)

Linguini's Adventure by Washington Irving 2021-04-27T15:31:35Z

@feor @thebmxeur thanks for spending time writing all that! some notes: we agree with you about the crossbow - it's kind of hard to get used to, maybe we should have added a crosshair, or some other indicator. @thebmxeur were you playing with sound? The indications rely quite strongly on sound effects. thanks for the detailed weapon feedback. @feor there is a slight variation in damage depending on which parts of the spider you hit, amount of time crossbow is aimed for, etc. maybe these were too small to be noticeable though. It's always fun to see people find exploits in the game like that.

Aleph Null by Broken Robot Studios 2021-04-27T09:06:32Z

WOW i just spent like 15 mins on ur game, when meaning to spend 1 or 2. really great graphics, the music is nice and subtle, but the explosions are craaaazy loud (both visually and audibly) the movement could use a bit of polish, but overall, love it!

Archeodillo by Rambar 2021-04-27T09:34:31Z

those insects were delicious! i loved the music, the graphics, and all the effort put into planning out the different mechanics. There were so many different objects you could interact with, I think the game would be significantly improved by just using the same mechanics, and adding MORE LEVELS. great job to everyone on your team!

Grave Hammer by Daniikk1012 2021-04-27T09:10:30Z

Hey, do I need javascript or something to run your game?

Grave Hammer by Daniikk1012 2021-04-27T09:26:36Z

Ok, can you supply a download link? Im not sure where I should get it from.

Grave Hammer by Daniikk1012 2021-04-27T09:36:43Z

oh, sorry. i wasn't clear. I'm not sure where i can download a correct version of the java environment. sorry if this is really obvious, but I don't do much coding, and have never touched java. :)

Hukakuhukaku by RitzJP 2021-05-04T10:36:08Z

Hello from Estonia! I found your game to be very innovative - like no other game so far! I spent some time learning the controls, and got up to stage 3 before one of the players fell on a danger block. It's great that you didn't go with the most obvious idea, and actually spent some time coming up with this cool game mechanic.

Other things I liked include: The pixel art the block removal animation and the randomizing end point of each level.

You may want to consider putting a screenshot or two in the game description - it can make a game look more attractive, so you get more players.

Keep up the great work!
