Pretty good! A little some variety of problems would be nice and for a moment I thought the music synced up with the button presses and I was like wow, that's so helpful, but alas, no. Anyway, I still enjoyed it and thought the animation was a lot better than 90% of the ludum dare games I've played over the years. Nice work.
Thanks for all the comments! This was my first time attempting to make a game where I drew all the art myself. Hopefully next time my skills will be more refined!
I really didn't come far. But it gets you hooked :D
more difficult than dark souls. congrats
I really like the simple flash game-like vibe this game has. Really brings back some nostalgic memories of playing on the school computer back when I was a kid. Animations feel nice and it's cool how you were able to save the player's high score across multiple play sessions. Nice job!
Very nice animations. It's fun but it's more fun if the movements look faster because the movement is really slow.
That was fun! I really liked the pixel art animations. The furthest i got was 4000, would love to know what your highscore is :D For the next LD have a look at Particle Systems, they would really spice up those flames.
Solid entry!
I see you linked the source code, I'll try porting this to Mac this evening. I'll send you a link.
Nice entry! Reminds me of the Chrome dinosaur game.
Pixel art was simple, but got the job done. I particularly liked the sliding animation! It was a little bit jarring that different sprites had different pixel sizes (the main character was really "blown up" compared to the fireball and dungeon). A lot of times games will try to keep one consistent pixel size throughout, but not always.
I think the slide felt a lot more responsive than the jump, which was good for the slide. I think it would help to increase the speed of the jump a bit, so you have less situations where you jump too late and still get immolated.
I know you used other people's audio, but the choices you used were good ones and fit the vibe.
Great work for what appears to be your first Ludum Dare, and hope to see you more in the future!
Loads of fun and grea aesthetics. Love it. :)
It's fun. The art looked really nice and I loved the animations, especially for the slide. I felt that the jump should be more responsive as it takes a while to actually jump after pressing W. Reminded me of the chrome offline dinosaur game. Overall it's really fun.
Good choice of audio, I think it fits well with the rest of the game and I liked the art, especially the sliding animation. In my opinion, you should make the background go faster and speed up the run animation to give a better impression of speed and make the jump more responsive: it was really frustrating to press jump only to die because the animation was too slow to get you up there (especially as the slide is quite responsive, the comparison make it more frustrating). Congrats on this game anyway: it is quite pleasing overall
The game is really fun, I just think it takes too long to jump after pressing the W, congratulations for the game!
Nice job! The game is quite simple, but feels pretty finished - main menu and highscore are nice features. Having a bit more responsiveness on the jump would have made the game feel nicer, and more enemy types and obstacles would have made it even better.
A bit on the simple side - there's only one hazard (fireballs) and you just have to either duck or jump. The speed doesn't seem to change much either, so once I got the hang of it I felt like I could go pretty much forever if I wanted. The slide and especially jump are a little slow.
The graphics are kinda all over the place - the main character and the background are in totally different styles, with the character being very minimalist pixel art but most everything else being much more detailed. I liked the main character's animations, though - I would've preferred it if the whole game's aesthetic was in line with him.
The game worked fine - though it could've used some more time in the oven and something to make it unique among the many endless runners out there. Looks like this is your first Jam - good work finishing something!
