Usually overly floaty games don't play very well with some notable exceptions like flappy bird (and apparently this game!). It added some fun moments where I could slowly move in directions I didn't intend to but still have time to fix it. I feel like if the controls were tighter the game may be worse for it. Graphically simple, but still very nice. The only complaint I have is that if you die early you don't have an option to restart without refreshing the pages. Well done!

justuspan 2020-10-05 04:45

A classic jumping game. But end with stucking each time made people feel frustrated.

coderaurus 2020-10-05 06:33

Patched up the freezing when dying as mentioned in the pervious comments.

lestat 2020-10-05 10:37

Nice graphics. Good game overall. Good job!

lombax 2020-10-05 13:09

wuuuuuut... where is the graphics rating, audio?. you would have scored quite good on those. even mood. personaly, even tho i only have 1 sound effect in my game, i would still want ppl to rate my sound xD, even if i didnt add anything with humor or mood, the ppl playing could see/feel something i totaly missed. score doesnt realy matter.

but, its a nice complete game. just a jump "bug" or a feature, depends if it is intended or not. nothing to say on the graphics or sound or movement, all were nice.

julius-vander-arend 2020-10-05 13:11

The floatiness works well to make this game a solid challenge, there is a real sense of tension after getting to the end on a particularly good run, well done.

gingerbill 2020-10-05 14:04

Good jumping game. The floaty-ness for the controls works well. Lovely to see a game that works with a controller too!

coderaurus 2020-10-05 14:18

@lombax Oh my god, I had the opt-outs wrong... Thanks for mentioning it! I want everything to be rated, haha. If it's not too much to ask, do rate them as well.

If you're talking about the "mega jump" it indeed is a bug. Unless..

indiequest 2020-10-05 14:20

Good jumping name, very nice graphics and music. had fun playing thank you!

sanojian 2020-10-05 14:26

The jumping and movement was a bit floaty. It felt like I was a balloon on ice. The graphics were quite good. Nice job.

p0l4r 2020-10-05 14:30

Nice graphics! Its a bit too unprecise and slow in the controls for my taste. You can also jump again when you hit the ceiling of a block. Well done all in all.

spodthewizard 2020-10-05 14:36

The floaty controls add a nice layer of difficulty, which makes it very satisfying when you get the hang of it and reach the top!

pincushion 2020-10-05 14:40

Fun game. It was a good level of difficulty. The controls felt good.

I like the progress bar. It let me know how close I was all those times I didn't make it. The Lord's frustration animation was a nice touch too.

coderaurus 2020-10-05 14:50

@p0l4r Yep, additional jump is not intented and I want to fix it.

pastelgames 2020-10-05 14:51

i keep getting trapped in a corner in the top left :(

coderaurus 2020-10-05 14:59

@pastelgames Oh no... Just to be sure, we're not talking about a bug?

pastelgames 2020-10-05 15:10

@coderaurus yeah i think its a bug. there was a short lip on the left side that i got stuck in. i jumped into it and i never fell back down.

coderaurus 2020-10-05 15:52

@pastelgames Ah, yeah that can happen sometimes. Maybe it happens only when you "mega jump"? Adding to my todo-list. Thanks for letting me know.

ds-nahogara 2020-10-05 23:29

Hi! I ALMOST reach the end until i died, the graphics are so cool man, great job :tophat:

matt-swieboda 2020-10-06 00:51

dude this is awesome! Great graphics, good gameplay. I love the eyes laughing when you die :D

I think the jumping could be tweaked as it seems too quick, and sometimes I can jump off sides of walls, but overall amazing job!

protocap 2020-10-06 02:07

this was a fun game, though the jumping seemed off, but the pixel art was dope as hell, I loved the style, I'd say just work on the controls a little bit and you have a solid game

netmute 2020-10-07 18:31

At first I thought the difficulty was brutal, but then something clicked and I "almost" won  Good job! Congrats on your first jam game! :ok_hand:

nidrig 2020-10-07 21:12

Excellent game -- simple and intuitive concept, great artwork, and nice sound effects. I for one would have preferred if the buttons gave you a discrete speed value instead of this "floaty" acceleration behaviour, but that seems to be a question of personal taste (and perhaps the game would have been too easy then). The features I liked the most were the progress bar (as has been mentioned once) and the fact that you've included an explanation of the controls in the game so that we don't have to read anything before playing. I especially like the colour coding in the controls explanation screen, which I think is a clever idea, and the fact that you only refer to that screen instead of explaining the controls in multiple places.

coderaurus 2020-10-08 09:06

@netmute Thank you! There is definitely a certain flow you can get into. You can do it, victory is almost in your hands!

@nidrig Cheers for the feedback! Yeah, there is clearly a divide between player preferences for inputs. I wonder if making that as an option would be worthy? As for the control guide, I thought I would save everyone's time by dropping clear instructions right off the bat. I even tried to consider colorblindness in some form. I'm glad you like it.

coderaurus 2020-10-08 09:13

I want to thank everybody for playing and giving feedback so far, I appreciate it a lot.

kassjak 2020-10-09 14:57

The bugs I've encountered have already been acknowledged so I'm not gonna get into that. The graphics I think are really neat and the opinion on floaty inputs seem to be half and half. I think I personally would've enjoyed more tighter controls, but again, that seems to be based around preferences and opinions.

Overall a pretty quick and simple game, but I enjoyed it!

fupi 2020-10-09 15:05

Very simple but very good! The theme of "stuck in a loop" is not really there, since there's a clear end to the tower, but aside from that I love the controls, they're floaty and slippy, but that makes it more challenging and fun to control! The game is short but it's also pretty hard. I love the ingame instructions, the sprite work is beautiful, the eyes in the background changing expression is so cool, and you even made music! Congrats!

coderaurus 2020-10-09 15:34

@kassjak Thanks for your input. I think I've fixed most of the issues on my end, but can't decide whether I want to patch up the entry or wait after the jam is done. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

@fupi Thanks for playing and feedback! Yeah, I guess the theme is barely there, isn't it? It mostly revolves around the story of time manipulation and in the game you do loop through the same floors of the tower, over and over again. I felt not having an ending just wasn't the way to go.

fupi 2020-10-09 15:37

I'm not saying that the game shouldn't have had an ending, but for example, I never noticed the floors were repeating. The looping theme could have been more present as a core part of the game.

coderaurus 2020-10-09 17:05

@fupi Yeah, I totally understand. I will step up my "theme game" next jam.

clemetayer 2020-10-09 18:48

I really liked the artstyle and the sound design, it makes it really satisfying to play !

roofloorwall 2020-10-09 21:44

I didn't really get how the game was connected to the theme and sometimes the run didn't feel responsive (the jump is pretty good though). Still a very fun game, with balanced difficulty and good audio

god-colo 2020-10-10 04:35

AHHH Pixel Art! :fire: The slippery movement made the game a little bit challenging! The SFX were on point! Greato Jobu my friend!

coderaurus 2020-10-10 07:55

@clemetayer I'm glad you like both the art style and sound design. Thanks for playing and feedback!

@roofloorwall Thanks for the feedback. I also realized I didn't give the theme enough thought. I'll work on that next jam. Good to hear you liked it anyway. Could you elaborate on how the run felt unresponsive?

@god-colo Yess, pixels! I'm glad you enjoyed it. The game is meant to be slightly challenging.

vivien-fargette 2020-10-10 12:49

For a first game jam, that's a really cool result. The game is quite fun to play even if the "multiple jumps" bug is quite annoying as it is hard to get a grasp at how it works. I also think that the small delay before changing direction (or stop moving) was quite annoying and was an unnecessary difficulty that was more frustrating than fun. Overall, I enjoyed the game (didn't manage to beat it tho, the red part is damn too fast for me) with nice audio and graphics

EDIT: I managed to beat it!

coderaurus 2020-10-10 14:21

@vivien-fargette Thanks for playing! Yeah, the jumping bug is annoying and I'm working on a fix. As for the delay, there is definitely room for tweaking the physics for better experience. And congrats on beating the game!

roofloorwall 2020-10-10 18:20

@coderaurus I felt like it was slower when starting out and then quickly sped up. Maybe that's exactly what you were aiming for, but it didn't quite work for me

coderaurus 2020-10-10 18:31

@roofloorwall Ah yes, it is intended indeed. The tower gets harder the more you progress.

cogcomp 2020-10-11 16:21

Victory! :-) Nice bouncy game. Once I understood that I could bounce once I made contact with a surface I stopped dying and had a lot of fun. Well done!

neowedge 2020-10-11 16:30

Simple but nice and polished entry, music is very tense and makes you fail xDCongrats!

coderaurus 2020-10-11 17:15

@cogcomp Congrats! Glad you enjoyed it.

@neowedge Thanks for playing! It seems I got the music right :D

tuatarian 2020-10-12 19:19

Fun fun movement! good music and sound! I take issue with the reptitiveness of the level though, I think you could have benefitted greatly from introducing a small random in levelgen

coderaurus 2020-10-12 20:12

@tuatarian Thanks for playing, glad you liked it. Yeah, I agree. The game would benefit a lot from random gen. However, this time I decided to go without it and focus more on controlled level design. I had planned adding obstacles incrementally to mix things up, but in the end I had to scrap it for jam version. Maybe I'll play with the idea later.

rainbows-are-fun 2020-10-16 20:22

Excellent entry for your first game jam. Well done!

coderaurus 2020-10-17 09:32

@rainbows-are-fun Thank you!

omarmobadr 2020-10-17 19:40

nice little game with a cute art style

be proud of finishing a game like this from sounds to graphics to basic mechanics, that's the whole point of a game jam like this

edit: I forgot to mention your amazing instructions at the beginning one of the most beautiful ones I've seen لقطة الشاشة 2020-10-18 004608.png

coderaurus 2020-10-18 08:20

@omar-14 Thanks for your encouraging feedback. I'm happy you liked it.

glaikunt 2020-10-20 19:58

I did it! The graphics & music are amazing! Really enjoyed that it had an ending and wasn't like flappy birds :P

coderaurus 2020-10-21 14:25

@glaikunt Good job defeating the Time Lord and thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the game.

exilegl 2020-10-22 17:25

Game is fun and music is really cool, and the double jumping is nice. At first I thought the 2 eyed monster dude would kill me if I touched it for some reason :p

I won :)

coderaurus 2020-10-22 18:03

@exilegl Thanks for playing and feedback! Congrats for you win. You're not alone thinking the eyes would hurt you. Hmm, something for me to think about in the future.

yword 2020-10-25 08:24

Yeah, I just finished it! Challenging gameplay and the music is great too! ^_^

coderaurus 2020-10-25 08:47

@yword Thanks for playing. I'm glad you liked the music :)
