LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Chicken farm by Hadik 2022-10-10T01:06:09Z

Really cute game, a nice relaxing experience compared to the other entries  Art is gorgeous, really awesome job on that, some relaxing music in the background would've made it! But overall a really nice game around the theme!

autoball by torcado 2022-10-09T20:05:11Z

Damn this is amazing, the best thing I've played so far. Loved everything about it, honestly kudos. It's extremely addictive hahaha

Harvest Golem by NotExplosive 2022-10-08T23:12:17Z

That was really really good, it was a really unique experience and definitely one of the best games I've played in the Jam so far. I managed to finish and harvest the final pumpkin and was captivated the whole way through.

It did crash for me twice on startup, and then it would restart itself, but seemed to be fine after that initial hiccup.

Really great job, loved the card game mechanics and trying out different combinations of crops, I could definitely see this being something bigger outside of the Jam as it honestly was a really fun experience.

Blind Jump by TsFreddie 2022-10-13T22:11:57Z

Damn, that was awesome, really well done game. Loved the music and the art style. I completed the game and was wanting for more  Excited to see what you do next!

Game Name by Strega 2022-10-08T23:30:58Z

Awesome experience, absolutely loved the graphics and the audio was really good too. Loved all the mini games, but had a hard time seeing where to place the objects in the design mini-game (but that may be intended)! Really great job all in all though!

Heartbeat by Shess 2022-10-09T17:05:51Z

Art style is really nice, and gameplay is fun, I encountered a multitude of audio bugs where things would cut off though and sometimes the audio would just turnoff altogether, and if I accidently pressed two buttons at the same time, it wouldn't pickup the input. I did manage to beat the game though and aside from those small issues it was a fun experience and cool atmosphere!

Celestial Survivors by candlesan 2022-10-09T19:51:50Z

Really loved this take on the vampire survivors mechanics, couldn't just sit still, as you constantly had to move due to being locked to a colour. Awesome game, got to 880  Great job

Speed Barber by PhoenixofForce 2022-10-11T23:09:25Z

Fun game! Original idea for the theme and was pretty satisfying

Haunted Hollows by Likirus 2022-10-08T19:09:13Z

ShareX_ooWF2bzvNg.png

Fun game! At the end though, you're basically invincible by spamming attack and sitting still. I see the speed, attack range and attack speed cap out, but didn't get to the damage cap if there is one. More enemies and such would be fun and would keep it interesting for longer! Good job!

Bullet Switch by borjan1peovski 2022-10-09T21:28:47Z

Pretty fun game! Graphics are nice and seems well thought out, good job!

Waves by RiptideStudio 2022-10-08T10:54:58Z

Really loved the audio and graphics for this game. The enviroment was amazing and as said above, it did have a creepy vibe to it, which was cool. Great job!

Escape the Breach by OwlyCode 2022-10-09T19:25:50Z

Fun game! Loved the background graphics, and the infinite running loop was pretty fun. Controls felt smooth and intuitive. Seems to be quite a bit of random content packed in as well, as soon as I thought I had experienced the whole game something new happend! Nice to see another godot 4 user here as well

10 seconds checkmate by Persegan 2022-10-11T07:24:31Z

Awesome art style, really fun gameplay and it felt super polished. Great job.

Speed Court by Profugo Barbatus 2022-10-09T23:10:38Z

Art is awesome, and the concept is really really good, but I agree with the above that the 10 seconds is just too short to read all that text and make a verdict, I'm glad you added an option for 30 seconds as that made it a bit easier. Really cool game overall though, and the different cases were funny.

Reboot by Astrydax 2022-10-11T06:45:00Z

Such an great game! Really cool concept, and after reading the comments here, I went and checked out cursor*10 as well, really cool game mechanic. Took me a few trys to finish, but eventually got the strategy down  Great job!

Arkeon by Achiliuus 2022-10-09T17:14:25Z

Really nice art style and music and I think the game has a lot of potential, but as said above the hit detection is really strange, and didn't know if I was dying or if I was doing damage (some audio feedback could help this!). I also feel the controls we're really strange and couldn't really pick them up at all. Having to move my hands between the mouse and keyboard a lot as different hotkeys were in unusual positions.

I did love the main menu as well, thought that was a really cool addition. Good job overall though!

Enter\space... by Hexela 2022-10-08T14:09:10Z

Art was really nice, and the concept is very cool, would be great to have more mini games that it shuffles between as also said above and it's nice that you do have that planned for the future. I also think some audio would go a long way to help with the tensity! Some sort of countdown and also sounds for different buttons etc! But was overall good and a fun game!

A Handy Job by 0X_VOID_X0 2022-10-10T00:23:01Z

That was awesome, such a cool concept and the way it was executed is really well done. It's way harder than you originally think, so many times my brain just fell apart trying to control the hands in time to finish different puzzles  Really amazing work.

AllegroRPG by DrSmey 2022-10-05T19:53:58Z

Really loved playing this, I was a bit hesistant of the controls, but after 2-3 turns it catches on fairly easily! Loved the art! It constantly kept me on my toes trying to figure out what the best strategy each turn was. Great job

Kairos Station Evac by parkuhrmd 2022-10-05T20:14:34Z

Really cool concept, didn't understand at first, but as soon as I saw the other crew member moving after I selected a different one, it was a big "oh that's really awesome actually" moment, and each level was pretty challenging and fun, got stuck on the crew quarters level for a bit with the 6 crew members, due to characters not always moving in the same paths, but you already addressed that above anyway! Great job

Room Again by SofiGnedova 2022-10-11T23:02:34Z

Awesome game and really cool concept, loved slowly figuring out what the right path was and then executing that, art style is great. Would be awesome to have a full game with these types of mechanics, slowly figuring out each level. Amazing job

There are 10 types of 10 seconds by Pikario 2022-10-08T22:33:45Z

Very fun! I think I got to the end  Music and Audio is nice and I really loved the dialogue, especailly whenever you "died" and he just manages to always find a random life for you. I think there could be more cool mechanics and levels, but overall it was an enjoyable game, the funny dialogue realy makes it.

Decrypt by Gabriel Chan 2022-10-10T00:14:12Z

Loved the art-style of the game, was a really nice setting along with the music and sounds. I was pleasantly surprised to see the different buffs/debuffs and thought it was an amazing addition, as the game is fun even without them, but they add so much more replayability. Honestly great job.

Wait 4 upgrade by Gastar 2022-10-09T17:36:57Z

Fun game! Really nice use of the theme on the vampire survivors gameplay, but with nice 3d graphics. I only made it to around 600 seconds haha, but was a fun experience and the upgrades felt meaningful. Good job!

Dodgex by chingle 2022-10-09T19:08:20Z

Really fun game and I love the idea! Overall a really solid entry, nice job!

Jekyll and Hide by Gangrue 2022-10-10T00:44:54Z

Awesome game, really really well thought out, and the way you used the theme is just amazing. Such a cool concept for a game, I got to the end and all the levels were so well designed. Great job!

10 Second Traffic by Grandblood 2022-10-05T21:36:33Z

Fun game! Thought I had found a sweet spot to stay safe, but then I unlocked trucks and everything went downhill from there haha. Gets really chaotic and fun once there's so much on screen and vehicals start hitting into eachother moving them in different directions. Great job!

Dimension Rush by LunariiSXZ 2022-10-10T18:11:02Z

Really cool concept and the art was really nice, I had a hard time at one part, only to realize I needed to wait for one of the changes to be able to make the jump, could see this being another one of those games like jump king and such, as the mechanics really fit that I feel, great job!

Terminal Words by gui_pererao 2022-10-08T22:41:20Z

Fun game! I managed to get to 139 seconds  I thought the words were too easy and then the same happened to me as above and I got hit with synchronize and panicked  Audio is nice, I was a bit confused on what the 10 seconds was again and then noticed the timer getting faster, I think it could be nice to have this somewhere ingame so you know when it speeds up or something.

Nua by Cayurr 2022-10-05T22:54:41Z

@thebmxeur Totally agree and is something I've been looking at for a small update outside of the LD51, just so it feels more refined.

@0x-void-x0 It is! I've messed around with godot a little bit, but never commited to making anything with it, until LD51! And this was made with Godot 4 beta 2, so there was a bit more issues that I didn't forsee that weren't easily searchable due to docs not being fully completed yet :D ! But I wanted to get up to scratch with the new GDScript. Thank you and completely agree with you that it's definitely missing some simple polish and is something I'm gonna spend more time on in the future, really appreciate the feedback.

@drummermansam Thank you! :D

Nua by Cayurr 2022-10-08T21:51:32Z

Thanks for the feedback guys!

@actuallythemoon Good idea, I think my initial vision was for a more roguelike-esque gameplay loop, where you start from the beginning constantly, but since I didn't manage to get a lot of those initial features in, it makes sense to allow playing each individual level. Will have a look and thank you!

@cogent-invalid Theres definitely flaws in telling the players more what to do, I think I got stuck in that terrible mindset where since I knew what to do, I assumed other players would too for a bit, and by the time I started testing and looking at how other players might view the game, it became a little too late to do much about it with only a few hours left  And I agree on having more pushback on the blue tile speed item, as once you collect enough, you can much more easily collect other items, an easy(ish) possible fix would be to reduce the amount of these and remove them from some levels I suppose, and maybe make them in harder to reach spots, but will have a look at it! Thanks!

@skleembof Sorry about that! I did poorly on explaining to the player that the minimum cost of a tile will always be 0.5 TP. Later levels, tiles can be 3 TP or more, so if you don't have these it basically means you can't move more than 3-4 tiles. Another thing, I'll look at, explaining in a bit more depth! Thank you!

Nua by Cayurr 2022-10-11T04:56:48Z

Thanks for the feed back guys, I've updated the game taking a lot of what you all have said with v1.2, much appreciated!

@natpat I've done some renaming and UI work to hopefully make things a bit easier on the eyes, so thanks for the feedback on that!

@rsninjadev Ah yes I agree, and will probably be the next thing I look at, thanks for playing!

@jesusonwheels I appreciate the kind words! I haven't felt like anybodys been hating really, just general feedback which is to be expected! Thank you so much!

@animawish Thank you for playing and I've hopefully made it a bit easier to understand with the latest update!

@fizzbark I agree that more distictive icons would probably be better, and if I continue developing this, I'll probably start looking at that! But for now I'ved made some changes to hopefully make it a bit easier! Thanks!

@alexsolonnikovp4 I'm sorry the tutorial didn't help you, was very rushed near the end of the jam, I've made it a bit easier to read from all this feedback and hopefully things make a bit more sense, so thanks for playing!

@xariusexcl Thanks for playing! I actually ended up adding that idea from your feedback! With popup text when you collect an item, attack an enemy and such. Haven't added it for tile movement yet, but am looking at it! Thanks again!

Nua by Cayurr 2022-10-18T17:01:45Z

Thanks for playing guys!

@studiokraze I watched the stream VOD and thanks for playing and rating! I understand the criticism on the theme. But, every move you make does take a certain amount of seconds, I've just renamed seconds to TimePoints for lore reasons. So a tile that takes 0.5 TimePoints to cross, actually takes 0.5 realtime seconds. So you have 10 seconds worth of time to figure out the "puzzle" and at the end of the 10 seconds, you move onto the next level or have failed.

It may be a stretch, but I personally didn't see it explicitly state it had to be a countdown of 10 seconds literally. So I tried to be creative with it but stay to the constraints that something must happen every 10 seconds. I think the only thing that breaks this, is that there is that issue where you can still move at the end of a level even if you don't have enough TimePoints.

Also, I assure you it was not a premade idea that the theme was tacked onto. I spent most of Friday night when the Jam started thinking through ideas and this was what I came to, with small changes throughout development.
