Got a kick out of some of the surprises lol. Lots of neat twists in there - I like that a lot of them only partially alter the gameplay. It's funny, you don't see a lot of canabalt-style runners in LD, but its such a good idea. I liked that you could move left and right as well. Really fun!

nice little infinite runner. I don't know if it was my keyboard or character controller that was missing inputs. Tested few times and some of the jump inputs felt like game was ignoring those.

At which point I can say that I saw every possible dimension? So far the one with dino is my favorite one.

EDIT: In Canabalt there was a little timespan when you could still jump after leaving a platform. In your game it seems that it is pixel perfect and sometimes it looks like jump wasn't credited.

@pbg thank you for your kind words!

@denvil @bukkaketears I have the feeling a bug is hiding somewhere, I'm looking into fixing that.

@bukkaketears You known that you've seen all the scripted dimensions when you see some sort of moon. After that it enters a phase of random stuff until you die. 724 meters is really quite an impressive score!

Nice Game!

Used to play a flash game called Canabalt back in the day. This game reminds me a lot of that game, in a good way. I liked the use of theme, and it got suitably challenging when I made it pretty far. I died a little bit after the moon part. Had to go under a tunnel as the robot was targeting me. I might revisit this game later to improve my score. breach.png

523m, final run for me. I saw the dinosaur after a few runs, and really wanted to see what else you has in store! The inversion of the screen, then of the colour broke my last brain cell of the day ahah. The laser bot got me on the third shot :') Loved that the patterns are randomised, the retro feel, and my favorite element (apart from the dino), was the animation of the dimension change.

Gameplay is really intuitive and works super smoothly.

Cool game! Seeing that weird pixel effect for the first time was so cool. Graphics and animations are nice, platform tile set is a little dry though. I wish there was more platforming variety, even if just some simple stuff. There was a rage element that kept me playing for a lot longer than expected-- nice entry.

I think this might just be one of the best LD games I've seen so far! I'm beyond impressed with the scope of this game! Never thought I'd see fully-fledged procedural generation in a COMPO game :D

The movement is very smooth and gameplay is quite interesting. My only criticism would be that the camera seems to move of it's own accord; it's an artificial restriction on the player that shouldn't exist IMO. Other than that, I had a TON of fun getting to 756m!!! Great job :DDDD

Really nice endless runner. Reminds me of Canabalt too. I'd take that nice little music track, and double the speed. :D

Fun take on the theme! The animation of the dimensional flare is great. It's fun reacting to each of the changes, though I definitely enjoyed the more crazy changes like the meteor shower, robot, and inverted screen vs. the pallette swaps. I unfortunately lost my farthest run when a meteor spawned on top of me right as it swapped- not sure if there's an easy fix to that, though! Well done overall!

Very nice game, I liked your spin on runner gameplay and the retro graphics.

Fun game! Loved the background graphics, and the infinite running loop was pretty fun. Controls felt smooth and intuitive. Seems to be quite a bit of random content packed in as well, as soon as I thought I had experienced the whole game something new happend! Nice to see another godot 4 user here as well

Cool game, I like that kind of retro and glitch-stuff and this game had it all! :sunglasses:

Ran 667 meters and died of meteor that took me by surprise. Couldn't react to it cos it spawned as I was jumping up from a lower level and it came so suddenly.

Good and solid entry. Fun gameplay, nice simple soundtrack and low-key funny humour :)

Kind of a "Canabalt meets Warioware" kind of thing, pretty neat idea. I loved the cute dinosaur. Nice job!

royal-10 2022-10-10 19:11

Full of enjoyment and simple and easy idea .good one

kalendhos 2022-10-10 22:47

I died a few times, with very non-deserved punishs, but I was curious enough to continue. It's a good point !

You clearly had fun to make the game and it's fun to play too ! Maybe the robot is a bit too hard, I think. Even it is (almost ?) the last one.

Cool job, really cool background !

I don't want to give the game away for anyone , so no spoilers.

Really loved the level art, the old-school music, and the variety of hazards. The procedural generation keeps you guessing too.

One small improvement would be to make up arrow a jump too, and make space restart , instead of x , as when you're dying a lot like me, it interrupts the flow having to hit x and not just mash keys frantically to restart.
