LD54 — Limited Space

Hexle by TRASEVOL_DOG 2023-10-02T21:59:01Z

Great spin for a sudoku fan! I was going for fewest mistakes, so kept wanting to write a "maybe" number down for places where there were 2 possible placements for a number. If there was a way to do this I couldn't find one, but I used the right-click to cross a number out instead.

The buttons were pushed slightly off the bottom during tutorials but not in the main game. Great work on the tutorial btw, it's unusual to see that in a jam game. :) Also I liked the sfx!

My technique was to place the 1,2,4,8 first then work through from 3-F in each corner. For some reason, there weren't many times that the rule about numbers being unique in a row/column helped me.

Da 'Lil Patch by viashimo 2023-10-02T22:33:18Z

Intriguing!! I love new systems to figure out and fiddled with this for some time. Started just by planting corn which didn't reach full maturity by winter, then started planting beans and clover to improve the soil. Then the weeds took over and it descended into a situation that I think reflects the theme very well!

The limited AP is at least as important as the limited space, as removing rocks or fertilizing is a big action.

The sun direction is interesting, so some plots get more sun, is it based on the height of neighboring plants (weeds?).

I was looking at fully grown beans, and the nutrients in the soil didn't change before or after harvest, it was always 47. But I think it started much lower, so maybe I don't actually need to harvest, maybe just get them to fully grown? I wonder how that interacts with winter.

I like that it feels like research went into this (or you know a lot about soil quality and crop rotation!). I feel like I'm learning stuff here.

I am misclicking sometimes, when I want to get info on a tile but instead harvest or perform whatever action is selected because I forgot to hit the info button first. Showing soil and crop info on mouseover would help I think!

Limited Space Travel by TasakaSama 2023-10-02T00:15:45Z

I survived a day of work in space!

I noticed the combat state carries over to the next battle so I usually start battles with no action points in the first round. On the plus side I keep my shields! My strategy was to choose combats, and increase shields as much as possible and only attack if I have to, unless they have 3 damage then kill them as fast as I can. Sorry aliens... I gotta job to do.

Forest Nothing by Corporation 2023-10-02T22:46:36Z

I'm getting "VCRUNTIME40.dll not found" and "MSVCP140.dll not found". There are some similarly named dlls in the zip but renaming them just gets me to the next round of missing dlls. I'm guessing I need to install visual studio or a VC++ distro, but it does look like you intended the dlls to come with. Maybe it's just a windows sandbox thing? It's a pretty limited os.

Prof Delespace and the Golden Record by cagibi 2023-10-01T23:54:06Z

Super cute. I have to admit I needed a hint for the first two puzzles. And I don't think my opponent was trying too hard for the third! I love the character art. Also the music!

Prof Delespace and the Golden Record by cagibi 2023-10-02T17:14:02Z

@cagibi I could definitely tell what all the shapes were, there were just a lot of possible permutations. And I admit since the hint for the first puzzle was so unexpected, I wondered if the hint for the second puzzle would be the same way.

For me I think every round Ghetti guessed I had played 0. Probably a coincidence, and it did have a chance of working, but after the first round I started adding my number to their guess. Also I always played the highest number. It was like playing rock paper scissors against the kid who always picks rock no matter what. Hehe.

Homeward by Wuppos 2023-10-02T00:24:39Z

Love it! I managed to make it home with a total value of 80. Great use of theme - I love a good inventory management game. Pretty art too, what a nice coherent color scheme. :)

WordDish by Wolforce 2023-10-03T03:26:03Z

I played way too much! I found it satisfyingly hard before I realized you could swap two letters, then it instead became super easy, and the hard part was NOT making words that accidentally use up rare letters you need.

Trashy Space Dice by Sarah Northway 2023-10-02T01:38:30Z

Thanks for the heads up @sevansevan. Not sure what went wrong, I was just getting "file not found". I uploaded the same file again and it seems to be working now.

I wish I was able to offer HTML5, but Godot 4 doesn't support it with C# yet. :( This was mostly an experiment to try Godot for the first time, and I thought it was pretty decent otherwise. I might put another day into this game and post it on Itch when they eventually support web deployment.

Birds by Arisu Kurotori 2023-10-02T23:01:29Z

Like a little Tamagotchi! Maybe it was the sad pretty music, but I kept getting kind of melancholy at the "I feel like I can't do anything anymore" which is the thing that eventually ended my game after three birds.

"You said you would miss the little bird"

Shwubbo vs the Installation Wizard by Brodnork 2023-10-02T20:25:01Z

Incredible use of theme! What a fun idea, also great music. It felt like playing a platformer while really, really drunk, having to concentrate and carefully line up every jump with my narrow field of view.

It crashed after I walked through the door on level 2 but I was running it in a weird way with opengl3 drivers in windows sandbox (with that description, come on ). This actually made it look transparent and awesome for some reason, so that was cool. WindowsSandboxClient_jHQs1VBYye.jpg

Volcano Verbiage by eudaimyst 2023-10-02T21:12:51Z

I love the lil person jumping from letter to letter, they're so wee and so terribly imperiled. Maybe I'm just missing something but I couldn't figure out how to get 4 words, seems like you always use up at most the outer ring with each word and there are only 3 rings. Anyway, neat game idea and satisfying execution. I'm always excited to see a new word game idea. :)

Lifeless Landscaper by BrimTheGoat 2023-10-01T23:25:07Z

I mowed the grass! Great theme idea, and kudos for the well themed music. :) I was trying to be methodical but the grasping ghouls encouraged me to go off my pattern and draw things playfully in the grass instead. Congrats on your first Godot game (this jam was mine too).

Clearing space by Sevansevan 2023-10-01T23:17:15Z

What a unique idea for a sokoban game! And the code is shockingly short. Puzzlescript is the best!!

Fruit Fitting Frenzy! by Gwen Dekker 2023-10-01T23:36:08Z

I love the design of this game, so simple and well presented, I had a blast.

Also thank you @nikor I see what the problem was here (blank spaces count as fruit).
