Hahaha I didn't expect to find a Forest Nothing recreation, though it does fit the theme! :joy: This is pretty cool! The controls feel a bit janky but maybe it's just because I'm so used to having keyboard shortcuts for everything in AoE2. Still it's very impressive you managed to make this in only 48 hours, well done!
@trasevol-dog glad to find other AoE2 fans out there) for sure it's far from original well developed controls, but I mean... they had 20 years to do so XD
It's pretty fun! it's a nice minimalistic city builder and it feels a bit nostalgic (idk why tho, maybe the color palette). It have some path finding bugs where some workers get stuck between buildings. Also, sadly the music didn't play :c
@majomirez yeah, there's no music unfortunately( Not sure about pathfinding bug, workers can get stuck if you block all the paths for them, buildings have square borders a bit bigger then their visuals.
I'm getting "VCRUNTIME40.dll not found" and "MSVCP140.dll not found". There are some similarly named dlls in the zip but renaming them just gets me to the next round of missing dlls. I'm guessing I need to install visual studio or a VC++ distro, but it does look like you intended the dlls to come with. Maybe it's just a windows sandbox thing? It's a pretty limited os.
You managed to recreate my childhood AoE2 memories in 48h
I loved this game. I put on the AoE2 soundtrack in the background while I played, it all fit perfectly together. This game made me happy, well done
I like how chill this is, and the cute color palette and lo-fi presentation. My only issue is that I didn't realize I had it on the slow speed until half-way through playing so I was stupidly waiting a while for everything to be completed. Other than that I liked it, but maybe would tweak the balancing a little, so you can get a bit more food and bit less wood.
Thank you for making this, I really liked playing it!
@sarah-northway windows sandbox? First time I'm hearing about it, probably that's the cause. Game is developed with my home brew engine, no way it supports platforms like this( @googlypoo glad I brought back those memories!) Nice idea with soundtrack, I wish I could recreate something like it for my game in a jam time @red-stake thanks for the feedback! Excessive wood is kinda the theme of this game, but I understand that it feels unbalanced)
Very impressed with how many of the strategy game features you made. Works very well also! Great game
Oh shoot. I was hoping I could play this game without a need to download anything. I guess I can run this game on Linux using Wine, but it's so much more efforts than just pressing "play".
@quasilyte yeah, unfortunately no way my engine supports this, maybe one day(
Oh dayem, I you used your own engine for this. You have my respect.
Really impresive to have a game like this one in 48h! Great job, the game is fun to play and the stategy aspect is interesting. Impressive work, nice done and interesting take of the theme  Congrats !
Really fun an unique! Great job, especially for a game in Compo! A fan of T90 and Forest Nothing? :D
@zimny11 a fan of AoE2 overall I would say) it was the first game I was ever gaming back in early 2000s and it's still so entertaining
great entry, i love an rts thats not actively stressfull even though there was no time pressure i still tried to optimize my build just watching the workers walk about is pretty fun
Not being able to place farms (or other buildings) under villagers is criminal!
As everyone else said, pretty good remake of AoE2.
I love the age of empires influence! It's a little long, but it was still pretty fun and I'm very happy you added the speedup button. The only annoying thing was there seemed to be some trees that couldn't be chopped down? Anyway, very cool game, and very cool you used your own engine.
omg this is amazing. Fits the theme so well
Amazing Job! It's really fun and I love the art style.
@paul-maxime yeah, I think for me it was also the most needed improvement, didn't manage to do it it in time( @masterofcheese glad you liked it! Length is always a hard thing to balance, I'm usually aiming for <10 minutes in jams, this can be done in 6-10 using speed up
This is a game after my heart -- I used to create custom AoE2 maps as a kid that I'd just fill with 100% forests, and sit and watch the NPCs try to chop their way through the forest. It's an awesome spin on the theme.
Took a few tries, but beat your high score :)

@sudocoffee wow, this is very impressive! Thanks for sharing it, glad you enjoyed) I wonder if you've been using delete starting TC trick to achieve it)
On one play-through I tried deleting the initial TC for a quick market, but it didn't work out great. Seemed like having a constant stream of new villagers was a better strategy. For the 1569 score I didn't even purchase the Wheelbarrow and Treadmill Crane upgrades (I couldn't tell if the 1500 extra wood or the 1/2 time wonder were a better pick).
My T90 farms were extra hard to manage. Loved it.
Omg I found the Age corner of LD - I love it
@vfqd you're in the right place) P.S. just found that Terra Nil also started at LD, what a great addition to my list of inspirations!)
