I thought I needed to quickly press the correct letter, but it wasn't until the water level was high that I realized it was a puzzle game(>﹏<)
Interesting game and concept. I tried to press the letters in order for some reason but in the end I got that you have to use the correct letter per spot. Are the letters given based on the missing spots? So if your missing spot something resembling an "H", you'll get something that resembles this?
The concept is interesting, I think that if the idea were to continue, it would be a very fun game. Anyway, cool for the concept
Very unique game i have not played nothing like this before. Graphics look good and very consistent. Overall nice game. Somehow feels like Reverse tetris
I can't use the . that open a dev menu but it's a great game
Thx everyone for playing!
@baubau yea, basically. Every round it goes through all the possible spots with something below and checks all possible letters for each. Those that can fit get rated how good they fit. Finally it selects a random one from the best rated letters and their tested position. It is pretty much brute force testing a lot which is also why you get that lag every start of a round
@dede333 That is very odd! Did you press . on the numpad by any chance? That does not register as . and instead as num . in UE4 but also not the dev console. I made new version now where I deleted all console keys and made it on num 9 instead. I also added more keys possible for . including num . and *
Different language keyboards can also be problematic with UE4. I have a german one and there is no num . on the keyboard and instead num , but it still registers as num . in UE4.
I wasn't expecting this to be so polished and visually pleasing, really enjoy how much effort you put into the sounds and graphics! The vibes are super cool.
The gameplay isn't very intuitive at first, but I actually really enjoyed figuring it out. You've done a great job making a new, creative twist on Tetris without being overly confusing.
From the ones I've tried I think this is my favorite game from the Jam so far. Fantastic work!
Here's how far I got:

It took me a while to figure out the rules of the game, but once I did I had a blast!
Very unique concept and gameplay mechanics. With some balacing I could see this being one of those _deep_ games that you can play forever (like tetris). Great job on the graphics, too. I would only suggest that you somehow make it clearer how exactly the letter will be aligned on the designated area. A proper tutorial would also be welcome, but I understand that it is hard to do it for 72-hour jam by a single person (I also botched the tutorial in my game).
Overall, this was great submission, good job!
(I played V1) I am a massive Tetris fan so maybe I'm a little biased, but this game is awesome.
I really like the visuals, the sound, and the concept. I can clearly see the Tetris Effect influence with the graphics.
My only gripe is sometimes there is no choice but to mismatch pieces. Other than that I really like this game. Really impressive looking for a jam title.
Cool idea, it did take me a while to figure out what was happening even on the v3 build. The way some squares get indented to fit the available letters is obviously necessary, but it never feels clear why that happens or how I can take advantage of it. As a result I often felt as a player teat I couldn't really control my fate or find clever puzzle solutions. The visual and audio presentation however are incredible. I had the music loop running for over 10 minutes and was still enjoying it, banger track.
It took me a while to understand, but even when I thought I understood, I'm not sure lol. Good graphics and sounds.
Thx everyone for playing! It has become very clear that the game needs a tutorial badly!
@AXLplosion I'm glad you enjoyed it that much! Also great to hear about the sound, it might be my first game where I also focused on that.
@exofrenon Thx, yea, a tutorial is now on my to do list. Making it clearer with the grid highlight is a good idea!
@real-flamingicecubegames There actually was a bug in the past version where you could only place a letter on the wrong place. I had fixed that since. Now, you could theoretically play everything perfect.
@fizzbark Basically you only have to choose which letter to put in which highlighted space, its like 3 letters and 3 spaces and if you choose perfectly everything fits perfectly. If you however just put a shape on the first space that fits but could also fit somewhere else you could mess up your other choices, so you kinda have to look at all the spaces first and plan it out a bit. Great to hear you like the music that much! I'm also very happy with it, sometimes when making music things just fall in place, making the game however was a real challenge.
@lincolnsalles It goes against several expectations so it can be confusing. See my response to fizzbark above for a rundown of how it works.
Pretty funky. I think maybe a time limit would add some tension as the only reason I really started messing up was that I zoned out bcus id been playing too long lol.
Cool game. Like the twist on Tetris. Like you said above the tutorial would help. It took me a couple of rounds to figure out what I needed to do. Great job.
Amazing game! This is such a cool concept with visuals and audio that make it feel so cool. The concept is rather confusing at first, and later on it is still kinda confusing how the same letter can have different shapes. The outline of where it gets placed can feel misleading too at times. Once I got to understanding it I really started enjoying it. I appreciated having the letters you need to type at the top of the screen.
With a tutorial I think this game would be very epic.

my high score. Man the math and stuff yall had to do to make this work, crazy
As a Tetris fan I kinda enjoy this twist! The visuals are excellent and the vibes is chill. The innovation is surprising too. However, at first I didn't realize that the place I can put the letters are fixed. So iit will actually be better to have a pre-select-and-place mechanism or so. Overall a great enjoyment.
Very nice twist on a classic! I love how the game makes a conscious effort to pick letters and punctuation symbols that will fill in the inevitable gaps - I can't imagine how much work was required to get that right! The graphics and music really tie the whole experience together. And the difficulty really ramps up over time: you have to pay super close attention to what letters can go where!

@daxtear You got all the way to 5 letters per round and it was still a breeze? You might be made for this! I like to add more difficulty for later rounds but I don't want to add any time pressure. Maybe as a separate mode though.
@phillips-albright Thx, I made a little quick start tutorial here for now that should cover the main confusion. I'm also working on improving those grid outlines and making it more clear where letters will be placed.
@hidden61ade Not sure if I understand pre-select-and-place mechanism but I don't want to get rid of being careful with writeing the first letter and having to plan ahead a bit.
@F1Krazy Thank you for mentioning how complex the system must be! Because it really was a lot of work and a lot of figuring things out. Maybe where most of my programming work went into
I found some features that really wow me + rep
Damn what was tough! :dvd:
A unique concept , and as usual a high level of polish!
I was stumped when the : or ¦ came up ( I think ) . I blame my advancing years and slow wits for the low score.
I know it defeats the whole idea , but for mobile play and for the less nimble fingered, a drag/drop feature would be cool.
