LD52 — Harvest

Harvest Construct Produce Destroy by oillen 2023-01-18T07:27:05Z

Nice start on an RTS! I really liked that you added in a tutorial otherwise I would have been completely lost. Really would have liked to be able to single click to select one unit instead of having the group select, this was annoying when I had three workers highlighted because they were overlapping each other and they each built the same building in the same spot. Pathfinding issues were also really annoying, my units kept getting stuck on things though I found out you could just keep clicking to climb mountains or roll over trees though I doubt that was intended. Also wasn't completely clear on the actual goal, I destroyed the enemy's base but nothing happened.

Lunar Harvest by blubberquark 2023-01-18T14:57:36Z

I liked the concept a lot. The volume was really high, I had to drop my computer volume to 2% while playing. I think the ship was a bit slow especially since you have to go all the way back up each time. Also the screen should scroll a lot earlier.

Tile King by MiltonNH25 2023-01-20T19:34:24Z

I really enjoyed this game. I played a couple of times and the last time I got over 100 turns. I do think it ramps up a bit quickly though, maybe you could start with like 20 turns and it goes down by 1 or 2 each time until you hit 10 and it stays there. Fairly quickly I found myself not able to actually explore the map anymore and the stone and wood definitely became a bottleneck since they cost money to build, so I ended up not doing much besides selling the resources.

A couple of minor things, it would have been really nice to be able to zoom in/out, if you could purchase multiple buildings in a row without needing to click the buttons again, and I also think the music was a bit ominous sounding for a game like this. Otherwise, great job!

Square Factory by rodel77 2023-01-17T04:58:02Z

Nice game, I really enjoyed it! I was going to try to go for getting a square every second but after letting it buy circle factories for 20 minutes or so and I was only just over 100k out of the ~1.6mil that I needed I gave up. A couple of people already mentioned different kinds of buying options which I would also recommend but besides that the only thing I can think of is more variety, maybe something you can do instead of just wait to earn shapes or other things you could buy besides factories, there is only so much time in a jam though.

Completely Normal Garbageman Simulator by SundanceKid 2023-01-09T23:28:29Z

I felt like the organs decayed too quickly, I could walk maybe a block before dying, and I also wasn't clear on what selling the organs was for. Would have also been nice to have an option to skip the opening cutscene on subsequent plays.

Ethereal Fruits by Manan 2023-01-22T06:29:57Z

Really unique game, I really enjoyed it! The ambiance was great and I really liked watching the different trees get generated though they had a tendency to clump up in the middle. The text could be difficult to see against the background at times and I was also playing for a bit trying to get the upgrades to level 10 before I realized they only went up to 7. Overall fantastic job though!

CCCPop & juice (Урожай Поп и сок) by LoicLeGrosFrere 2023-01-18T07:06:50Z

Interesting idea for a game. I'm not too sure if there was a win condition though, I filled up the arrow and nothing happened. The controls felt nearly impossible to control, I would get going in a direction then take my hands off until it came to a stop and repeat.

Field Line by Regoradin 2023-01-12T08:31:54Z

From what I'm able to piece together, neat concept with managing all the different machines by dragging them around the screen. I like the art style and the minimalistic approach. I also like that you introduced things in a staged approach to allow learning what things did what instead of throwing everything out a the start. There's only so much you can do in a game jam but it could definitely use some background music and sound effects along with instructions or indicators to tell you what you need to do when the trucks fill up or the machines run out of gas.

Unfortunately, it does seem to have a lot of issues. I got that you can harvest the crops into the trucks with the harvester and plant the crops with the tractors but once it got to what to do with the machines when they were full or out of gas, it kind of broke down. I would send the trucks off the side and sometimes they would just come straight back, other times they would get emptied out but still out of gas or get their gas tanks filled without emptying their load. The main problem, however, is that I would send machines off the side to get more gas but then they would just never come back, to the point that I ended up with no machines left because they all ran out of gas.

Henbane Farms [Web] by Spice Cabinet 2023-01-10T04:41:08Z

Art and Music were great but the gameplay was a bit lacking. It took me a few tries to figure out what to do, everyone is asking for vegetables but you're only allowed to give out certain ones which was really confusing and I didn't get a couple of the references which meant I had to guess when they came up which caused me to lose. I also didn't realize you could sprint at first which made it nearly impossible to get to anyone without wasting time, if a feature like that is so important it should probably just default to active.

Corpse Dealer by Astoeth 2023-01-09T23:45:34Z

Fun game though I feel like I spent 90% of my time just waiting around for the harvesting machine. Would have been nice if that automatically worked once you added a body to it so you could do other things in the mean time or if it just instantly harvested bodies. I also fell like there wasn't any reason to go more than like 10 feet outside since there were always cops right outside.

GAKKI the Water Harvester by ironhandMD 2023-01-10T03:57:22Z

Nice job for a first go. The music was great and I liked that there were powerups and people to collect along side the water but I it was still a bit boring since all you do is roam around a large open area. I'm also a bit confused on the objects since I ended up with 78 out of 60. I knew were additional water was, I just couldn't figure out how to get past the big red rock and thought I had gone through the whole map twice but I'm guessing I was missing a small part somewhere with an upgrade. Would have been nice to have a mini-map that revealed where you've been so it was easier to keep track of and to know where you still need to go.

Farmer Joe by ElmoEinstein 2023-01-13T01:40:48Z

Love the art and gameplay, could definitely use some background music though. The start can be a bit slow but once you get enough seeds the time seemed to almost pass too quickly.

Crop Season by chaikadev 2023-01-10T08:19:01Z

Nice concept, loved the art and music. My big gripe with it is how sensitive throwing is, it was way too easy to throw way over their heads. I ended up turning my mouse sensitivity way down so I could consistently toss things to them and was able to win that way.

Sherlock Scarecrow by lastOrange 2023-01-15T00:49:57Z

Great art though I think the scarecrow didn't quite fit with the environment and other characters. I ended up figuring out who the murderer was but it was an educated guess at best, there were only a couple of clues and none of them really required much thought or were a smoking gun. Great job for a game jam though.

A couple of concrete suggestions, I think the scarecrow moved a little slow so it was annoying to keep moving between houses. I also think it would have been beneficial to put something at the start that somewhat forces you to go to the right towards where the people are. I initially ignored the road and went down when I saw the house so ended up looping around to all of the houses before noticing that the suspects were in the center.

LD53 — Delivery

Cassie's Truck by thristhart 2023-05-14T20:13:45Z

That was definitely one of the stranger games I've played, not bad though. I really liked the ability towards the end to be able to manipulate the position of the enemies to hit more of them.

Don't read all about it! by ThaProfesional 2023-05-06T17:39:47Z

Interesting idea though it is incredibly short. It didn't seem like it was possible to win with less than two deliveries made and was also a bit confusing at the start when I had no idea what I was chasing, having the delivery person start from the same side as you with a gap before the first house probably would have remedied both of those I think. Also, it would have been neat if there were multiple delivery people constantly trying to deliver stuff from both directions and maybe you have a certain number of lives or something while you're trying to stop them instead of just one go at it.

30-second Deliveries by Sebastian-M 2023-05-14T21:30:05Z

Great concept, it started out fairly fun but I started to get motion sick with how sensitive the camera and aiming controls were as well as how the camera would shake all around when flying through the air.

A few recommendations: You could use arrows that you click and hold to aim the cannon, with a few different speeds. Besides not having the fit all 360 degrees in the slider this would also allow you to continue spinning it the same direction, I ran into a situation where I wanted to rotate more the left but I was at the end of the slider so I had to move it all the way to the other side. And the pitch slider would have been good to be vertical.

I would also generally caution against using words like yaw and pitch. For a game jam like this it's fine, most of us know what that means and they aren't super uncommon words to begin with but if you publish a full game using words like that a good chunk of your audience won't know what that means.

Special Delivery by Ismael Rodriguez 2023-05-02T05:43:01Z

That was a ton of fun! Loved the art style, the music, the gameplay, and collectables are a great bonus. Most rooms tended to be really straight forward with just a bit of timing to get the envelopes though, there wasn't much challenge to it but it was still fun. I did struggle in the first room when I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be doing though, just testing out the controls got the box stuck on the ground and I was really confused. I got the idea after realizing I could reset the room though. Might be a good idea to have some indicators showing what you're supposed to do in the first room or two and text that shows up telling you to press R if the box sits in an unreachable spot for too long.

Space Delivery by Kirbloid 2023-05-05T01:34:42Z

Really well done! That was a lot of fun! Graphics, music, and mechanics were really great. It was really easy though and it didn't seem like you could fail levels which surprised me at first. To me, it looks to be set up to be a puzzle game but is instead a high score game, if that makes sense. I think it would have been better to lean more into one of those.

For instance, if you were aiming to make a puzzle game maybe have obstacles in the way like moons or asteroids and make it so you could only deliver the correct gems to the correct planets. Failing to do so in the number of rockets would cause you to fail the level and have to restart.

If you wanted to make a high score game you could have had the levels be more randomized and you only get like 10 rockets for the entire playthrough to score as high as you can with maybe bonuses to get more rockets or something.

Deliver Us From Evil by Team Watt 2023-05-01T23:46:22Z

Nice work! I really liked the music. There didn't seem to be much of a challenge to it though, I just held spacebar near people then spammed the punch button at the things that came out of them, there didn't seem to be an sort of penalty for getting hit by them.

Satellite Delivery by LudumDareDevil 2023-05-14T20:38:05Z

Nice job for your first 3d game. Was definitely a bit confused at first but after a few tries I figured out what was going on. The text above the houses was a bit difficult to read, could have used like a hover box that popped up describing them and how they worked. It was also a bit strange that the new employees spawned in a different place than where they went when they weren't doing anything.

Don't Stranding by nekowei 2023-05-05T00:42:50Z

Great Entry! It was fun and relaxing to sail around. The music was nice but it was really short so got repetitive pretty quickly. The volcano scared me the first time and sort of seemed to come out of nowhere, maybe make the screen shake every so often hint at it and it could eventually start to rain ash when it's getting really close close. I would also definitely suggest locking the mouse cursor to the center of the screen and hiding it when it isn't needed, once you reach the edge of the screen you can't move the camera that direction anymore.

Crazy Post Office by ZenBreaker 2023-05-02T06:15:45Z

Nice concept! I enjoyed trying to find better ways to get the packages in the buckets. I lost track of time on a couple of levels trying to optimize it the best I could. A couple of notes though: * I think an important thing for this kind of a game is that it's deterministic, that if you run one level three times without changing anything the same thing happens each time. * It was a bit confusing when I could move some things and couldn't move others, maybe making the objects that are locked have different colors or the ones you could move have an outline or something. * Starting with an inventory of pieces rather than having them already placed I think would have made it less hectic. A full inventory system for a game like this can been difficult to implement for a game jam but it could have just been something like a different colored box under the yellow area where all the pieces start. * It was also somewhat annoying that you had to hold the left mouse button and use the scroll wheel at the same time to rotate something. A click to grab then click again to release would have made that better.

Guns and Toads: Battle for delivery by GeoBlackrU 2023-05-02T17:31:19Z

That was a fun game, great job! Art and music were great but I think the balancing could use a bit of work, which is something that can be really tricky for a game jam. I would either just run away without doing anything or enemies would swarm me really quickly regardless of the number of upgrades or levels I had gotten. Levels didn't seem to have any noticeable impact that I could see. And Delivery locations were really far away at times, I'd just be walking for what felt like minutes (though probably realistically like 30 seconds) without problem before arriving at the house.

I did end up running into a lot of issues that left me confused but I can't reproduce them anymore though so it may have just been issues with my browser, after they stopped happening it was a much better experience playing. I had my controls reversing after deliveries, controls not working in general, one of the attacks going away randomly. I also didn't play in full screen at first (because of some of the initial issues) which cut off the gold amount I had so it looked like I was only getting like 14 gold per delivery when I was really getting like 140 for instance which prevented my from realizing I could buy upgrades.

COLD CHEDDAR by deadjolly 2023-05-02T03:18:44Z

Great game! It was a ton of fun to drift around all over the place though I do wish backing up was a bit faster as running into building happened a lot. It did just seem infinite though, I didn't see any sort of end or win/lose condition which I think is important for games. Maybe it could have been that you need to deliver a certain number of pizza's every 30s or you get fired. Or maybe the car could only take so much damage and it ends when you destroy it.

Caterpillar Courier by The Wondering Vagabond 2023-05-14T21:12:01Z

Nice job, I really liked the concept but it did get really difficult after only a few levels. The movement was a bit slow for my taste though.

Beak and Bundle by Aivaxela 2023-05-03T00:11:26Z

Great job on this! I loved the art style, the music, and overall concept. It did end up getting a bit monotonous after not too long though. I didn't know how to use the stork blast at first, I don't remember seeing any instructions on it and just started hitting every key on my keyboard until it shot. Because of that the first stage to the second had a massive difficulty increase but after I figured out the stork blast it just ended up trivializing everything.

Box Rush by Phyrocast 2023-05-01T23:09:30Z

Nice job! Outside of what's already been said with mouse sensitivity, the timer, and that I wasn't sure how to ship the box once filled. It would be nice to have a run button to move a bit faster and if you're full screen in the web version at least, Escape pulls you out of full screen instead of pausing, so might be good to have a secondary pause button for that.

LD54 — Limited Space

Loop Bots by minibobbo 2023-10-05T04:27:02Z

Really great game, I had a ton of fun playing it though I wasn't able to figure out Sub the Jump and Big Square took me forever to figure out. The visuals are nice, it has a really nice retro look, though some of the spacing on the UI could be fixed. I also think I noticed a bug where if the zoom bot went in first it wouldn't stop beeping.

Pack It In by adam-gould 2023-10-05T02:52:14Z

Great job, loved the game though I couldn't figure out level 15 (presumably the last?) for the life of me. I do wish you could just drag the items around with the mouse rather than the arrow keys and also wish that there was an undo button as it was annoying to have to restart the entire level just to adjust the last item or two you put in especially when you've already placed a dozen.

The Little House That Had Been Very Good This Year by WFMG 2023-10-05T01:09:26Z

Interesting concept though I think it would have been better suited to be a tetris-like stacking game. With only being a single stack there doesn't seem to be much of a strategy to stacking the presents besides just spamming.

The aiming seemed kind of arbitrary, it felt like the mouse was being used like a joystick. I would suggest either aiming where your mouse is pointing or just using the arrow keys instead.

Squeeze The Day! by ManderDander 2023-10-05T03:01:19Z

I got confused at how it all works at the start but eventually got it. The movement is a bit slow and it's a bit hard to tell what's going on or and what you're supposed to do. I also didn't notice there was an indicator for what you were holding until after I finished so kept forgetting I needed to put what I had down, what have been nice if like the red dot on the character changed if you were holding something or an indication on the player itself for what you're holding.
