Really cool game. Did you create the shader for the puke effects? It looks really nice atleast. Im not sure if the enemies does anything tho, i kinda just let them follow me
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD50 → Vomit Mage

One of the best games I've tried in Jams. The atmosphere and sound has brought me memories of Medievil and Alone in the dark. (I know they have nothing to do with it, I don't know if it's because of the enemies or the graphics) I liked it a lot.
When I took the potatoes the game improved by 200%, great job!
PS: Now I want to learn Unreal because of you.
Its a pretty funny game. I had a good time launching magical glowing puke to kill some critters for a change. The art and bloom is pretty good, but the game overall is too dark to see anything.
@jonrei all vomit and splatter is done by particles (UE5, Niagara)
Well done. It was a funny game. The particles are cool :)
Fun game, nice particles and nice with some music. Would have liked more of a threat from the enemies thought, they could have been faster. It might be how you intended it but the game was dark enough for me to make it hard to see things.
The enemies could be a bit more challenging and I'd love to see some effect of being too drunk, maybe if you drink too much the vomiting happens on its own or you start moving funny etc.
I appreciate the detail of having different endings and the soundtrack is really groovy. The Holly Grall was also tasty!
I had some burst of lags, making complicated to aim these littles oranges ennemies but it's more easy to handle with fries ! I tried the hot dog too, but as I suppose it deal a lot of damage, it was really difficult to touch targets with ! Anyway, I succeed to find graal in a non violent run :stuck_out_tongue:
hello @unless-games the overdrinking and vomiting on it's own was accually in the plan, but due to timing we didn't manage to implement this.
Two things in life are inevitable, taxes and being hungover getting falafel from a food truck. Loved the game, it was fantastic. We can all be the vomit wizard sometimes, the difference here is I don't want to forget this experience :) Great team effort!
Fun game. Love the art you created. Good job!
Really fun little game! And I have to say I'm so impressed that your 8 year old is already creating 3D assets! That's so awesome, well done! I look forward to their future in game development! :)
I think the overall direction of the game and graphics of the game were great. Also I loved the different sound tracks added here. The moment to moment gameplay felt a bit lacking though - probably due to the low threat of enemies. Overall, awesome job guys!
I like the concept-- a mage vomiting on spooky monsters is great. But it was too dark to see anything. I couldn't reliably aim my vomit. The enemies didn't kill me, but they pushed me into a wall where I couldn't do anything but restart.
A masterpiece that the adacemy will no doubt ignore because they are afraid of what it stands for. Bravo!
For real though game is surprisingly big and works very well, impressive submission!
Fast food is terrible! :) Although the potatoes are very cool! :) Cool done! Good job! :)
Overall a really good and impressive game! I wasn't able to find the grail though :( As well, when i wanted to move and shoot there was a weird effect where it would shoot not towards my cursor but skewed sharply in a direction. Asides from that, great game and the scale was impressive!
Great punchline and overall a really solid game. I kept running into a bug where my movespeed greatly dropped after killing an enemy, the game was a little visually dark, and the feedback when you hit an enemy wasn't enough to tell if you hurt them or not. Other than those minor things it was really well put together, and a fifth of the file size of the other unreal games I've played this jam! well done!
Funny game :) the graphics are great, they have a nice distinct style. But if you want some criticism: the character is a bit slugish, and the game file is way too big.
@lilkrit thx for feedback, file size is strictly ue5 releated.
