LD47 — Stuck in a loop

U.F.O.M.O by dvdfu 2020-10-06T01:17:11Z

I loved this! This demonstrates such a good take on the theme and a wholesome message. The art is also super cute!

The Looppy by asfdfdfd 2020-10-05T23:24:22Z

What a cute game! The luggage conveyer belt was such a cool idea. I loved the little dog barking art!

GIANT Sushi Party! by Barbiche 2020-10-06T02:10:29Z

Loved this game! I'm just a bit worried about how many customers I must have given food poisoning now...

WHAT I SAW by Angela He 2020-10-06T22:08:32Z

The atmosphere of this game is incredible. The music right at the start drew me in. I couldn't figure out how to get past the middle school thoughts. I'm fairly sure I was supposed to jump somewhere, but the platform was too far. I really wish I could so I could see more of the lovely art and learn more about Anne! I've played your past games, and it's really cool to see you working in a different genre.

A few issues I had: I'm not completely sure how to describe it, but feel like I am moving the character through molasses. The controls feel a bit slow. In the room after the first floating, sometimes the character faces towards the door she came from instead of away from it, which gave the impression she came from the other door on that platform. Some of the floating heads aren't connected to their lights in the middle school thoughts area.

Fancy Trash by sebastianscaini 2020-10-06T01:30:22Z

This concept is so funny! I loved your raccoons :D

Programmer Nightmare by Cary Stanley 2020-10-06T04:27:29Z

Loved how you executed the theme! I didn't expect to actually see a game jam game about making a game jam game.

LÖÖPS by Tamail 2020-10-05T22:26:50Z

I adore the concept and the animations of the cats playing! The glitchy jittery cat movement before and after exercising made it hard for me to keep looking at the game, but a solid idle game apart from that.

Labrynth by Rockclaw 2020-10-05T23:03:29Z

Seconding javicepa on the level design! The art and animation are on point. I especially liked the tiles that look like they have flowers(?) on them!

Chicken Leggacy by Magic_mike 2020-10-06T22:35:00Z

What a cool take on the theme! The onion farmers are so cute! I really liked the egg-laying mechanic and it was cool how you had a variety of chickens with the time limit changing corresponding to the chicken's speed. And of course, I love the pun in the title!

The Song of Spiral Sam by Ashley Koett 2020-10-05T23:34:15Z

Really cool vibe! I love the animal band :)

Cat Box Fall by zRepa 2020-10-05T22:46:28Z

A really unique take on the theme! The cat character is so cute! A little detail I enjoyed was how the box you carry weighs you down. I encountered a few glitches after falling, but the issues were solved by restarting the levels.

LuftLoopa by Cieroceramics 2020-10-06T22:22:04Z

Such a unique take on the theme! It was difficult to actually play the game but I understood what you were going for!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

An Average Day At The Cat Cafe by alexrose 2022-10-09T00:02:45Z

Mmm loved the vibes of this game :milk: :tea: and the customers were all very charming, I liked the ones that showed up night especially. I feel like the game was pretty hard to get into initially because I didn't know where each action had to be taken, but eventually got into the groove of things! I have one question that might be a mild spoiler for people who haven't seen this customer yet: where do I find the "birds rock" poster???

Choo Choo Crossing by Hydezeke 2022-10-09T00:39:54Z

Super chaotic... I did not know what was happening with some of the passengers, but I had fun throwing them around. I also especially liked the music at the end!

Scribble Rush by Str0nkyK0ng 2022-10-05T04:19:59Z

@100th-coin @ingo-holle oops sorry for the double ping, just wanted to add on to Aidan's response! We found the IBM Design Library palette for color accessibility on this site (https://davidmathlogic.com/colorblind/#%23D81B60-%231E88E5-%23FFC107-%23004D40). The website does have a tool to simulate what palettes look for people with different types of colorblindedness, and honestly it just slipped my mind to consider adding another color. Looks like the green with the hex code #3AFF7D might be promising if we revisit this project.

Also, 100th-coin, thanks for taking the time to record a video of yourself playing with your live feedback :0 It was fun to hear your thought process in your drawing decisions. To answer one of your questions, yes, the gallery is hosted online. @str0nkyk0ng powered through figuring out how to get MongoDB to work with our game for that.

Time To Live: 10 by Lancival 2022-10-03T23:35:48Z

Really loved the concept and level designs! I think my main point of frustration was getting stuck on the floor sometimes. I didn't enjoy the movement in the game that much so I didn't actually play all the levels to completion, but I could understand how I was intended to solve the puzzle from playing around and looking at the level design :0

Color Copy Cats by carolinewang 2022-10-04T00:25:35Z

Very cute game and the SFX sparked joy! I did feel like the having to wait 10 seconds for the color change was a bit frustrating, especially I wasn't sure what order the colors cycled in at the start.

This Date Blows! by crow_seeds 2022-10-17T04:13:49Z

Love the play on words and the game concept! The voiceovers and shaking art assets really added to the very stressful experience

Phemie's Fable by Austin Law 2022-10-04T00:13:06Z

The game was fun and the art and music fit so well! I liked that there were different weapons, but I feel like I felt most satisfied with the sword so I kept choosing it because I liked how it felt and disregarded what stat was associated with it.

Scratching By by rsheepdv 2022-10-04T00:07:23Z

What a cute game! The mechanics felt very smooth :0 Sometimes, I would put in ingredients in a different order so it wouldn't display my drink until I put all 3 in, but at least the ingredients are placed such that I would usually naturally do the right order! I kept waiting to make something other than tea, but once a pastry came in, I had forgotten the instructions for making a pastry and lost  For the time constraints, really good job!!! I think the game just needed a little bit more tuning regarding the timings.

Nine Knives by Fudgeawsome 2022-10-04T00:29:56Z

I love the knife mechanic and the visuals and audio go with the game so well! Good job :0

Birdwatching by Iguanana 2022-10-03T23:41:46Z

I liked the birds and the bird facts :) Very nice job, I think I saw all 24! :0 I found it difficult to both look at the art of the bird flying by and type because I would type based on the text box rather than the text over the board, and I wish it were easier for me to appreciate the art during the game. The music also got repetitive after a while.

Prom Pandemonium by NotALobster 2022-10-04T00:18:42Z

I liked the visual style and story :) I think it wasn't really apparent to me that the flashbacks were from the previous 10 seconds though.

Bearserk by Anvilesque 2022-10-04T00:41:57Z

Fun music and I like how it feels to keep upgrading the bear :0 However, it didn't feel very apparent to me that there were changes every 10 seconds, and I wasn't sure what the bearzooka and clawnch did based only on the instructions.

LD54 — Limited Space

Smash & Pack by pndaa 2023-10-16T08:21:33Z

I loved the 3D animations (especially the level complete cutscene) and the silly voice lines! I liked the challenge of trying to pack items closely without having them smash each other. I didn't feel like the little tune that played when carrying items, and levels did end up feeling repetitive.

How many sheep can you fit? by Yngvarr 2023-10-05T02:01:00Z

What a cute game! I hope the doggo gets to relax after a long day of work. I really liked that the sheep were able to leave the pen after they initially enter it -- it added extra challenge when I realized that if I barked too close to the pen, I would drive some of the sheep back out. When I hit 32 sheep, it became a bit challenging since the sheep didn't fill up the edges of the pen so I couldn't fit my last couple sheep in, so I had to drive the sheep out and re-pack them inside better. Barking at all the sheep inside the pen and seeing them all jump and bleat in unison was really funny! I also liked the camera angle change near the back corners, though the abrupt transition is jarring. The collision areas, particularly in the back corner, are also unclear since they're larger than the visible objects. I like the barking and bleating SFX (good job voicing the animals!), but I didn't enjoy hearing the same sounds repeatedly over the repetitive soft background music.

HEADSPACE by jelch 2023-10-16T09:21:04Z

I really liked this take on the theme! It was fun to catch glimpses of what the thought bubbles said, like the one about the demo text that wrapped really well! The flat thought bubbles felt out of place with the 3D head, would have been cool if tied together more visually but I understand the time limitations.

Dot-Dash-Escape by BauBau 2023-10-16T08:12:08Z

The audio fit so well -- I was stressed tapping my space bar as the time was running out! I like how the Morse code guide is integrated in as a sheet of paper on the desk, really made the "you have everything you need to escape" true.

Work Until You're Undead by Diego Escalante 2023-10-08T23:28:45Z

I really liked the tense atmosphere that the lighting and audio built up -- even though the zombies were fairly easy to avoid, I would feel pretty stressed about getting away from them. The barricades weren't super necessary, but it helped ease my heart a bit knowing that I had them and could place them down.

World Weaver by JUSTCAMH 2023-10-16T09:47:23Z

I loved the atmosphere created by the art and music! I like that all the interactions (including talking and reading signs) are done with the one dash action. I think the mechanic is super interesting, though it was hard to understand, and I felt like I guessed my way through the end rather than understanding how to solve the puzzle. I couldn't tell whether the damage from the towers was consequential or not, but I did still try to avoid getting hit. Also a small quality of life thing is that I didn't realize that pressing space during the dialogue would skip to the next dialogue, so I missed some text.

Towerfull by Brainloaf Studio 2023-10-05T03:35:38Z

Wow! I really loved how you used different tower shapes, making it harder to put in more powerful towers. I love the art and how the hands move, and also how the music changes over time and all the SFX. Really satisfying to beat down the knights with my magic!

It wasn't clear to me what it meant when a Groblet would be sweating and standing in place though. Does that mean the Groblet is available to do work?

Skyway 2 Heaven by raddishradish 2023-10-04T05:09:27Z

@Shishandr thank you so much for taking the time to play our game, especially since we only had the Godot project uploaded at the time! I see you're also a sheep enjoyer with your game, and I'll play it and drop a comment later this week :sheep:

Skyway 2 Heaven by raddishradish 2023-10-05T08:26:03Z

@Padlynn @diego-escalante I'm glad you found things you enjoyed about the game despite its difficulty! Due to the limited time we had and how erratic the sheep behavior ended up being, we opted to make the game experience about losing sheep more than successfully bringing them to safety  I do agree that the difficulty curve is unreasonable given the game's framing that the goal is to bring sheep to safety, and I would try to make the levels progress more gradually from reasonable to completely ridiculous given more time.

Skyway 2 Heaven by raddishradish 2023-10-08T23:50:56Z

@bayunyoubi Thank you for taking the time to play! Yeah, unfortunately our sheep tended to walk off the edges

Skyway 2 Heaven by raddishradish 2023-10-08T23:53:54Z

@fizzbark Thank you for taking the time to play and providing feedback! Yeah, I agree that the gameplay is pretty frustrating, and it doesn't help that along with blocking each others' paths, the sheep will also frequently walk off the edges. We had a lot of trouble with the sheep. The frame rate is choppy even within engine for some levels too oops.

Skyway 2 Heaven by raddishradish 2023-10-08T23:55:10Z

@thunderchief @ruslana Not your fault that it's hard to play -- the levels were initially designed assuming the sheep would be much more easily controlled (but the final behavior ended up being very erratic). Thanks for powering through and trying the game out for a bit!

Skyway 2 Heaven by raddishradish 2023-10-16T08:23:37Z

@arivaneverdingen I'm glad you had fun with the sheep and that they made your gf laugh! Our game has pretty bad performance even in the engine, it's not just an .exe problem

Skyway 2 Heaven by raddishradish 2023-10-16T08:25:42Z

@baubau HAHA I think maybe if the sheep didn't use their two legs to run off edges, I would think they were brighter. I'm glad you enjoyed it! If we had more time, I would have tried to make the difficulty curve more reasonable -- the levels were originally designed with more controlled sheep behavior in mind, but our final implementation ended up being different. Only level 1 is really designed around the final sheep behavior.

Skyway 2 Heaven by raddishradish 2023-10-16T08:27:10Z

@pndaa Yay, I'm glad you liked those parts of the game! If it helps, the game is more about embracing the chaos of watching sheep fall than actually getting them across islands  The later levels lag even within the engine whoops

o'bby had a farm by Isabelle Szeto 2023-10-16T08:37:41Z

I really love the art and music! I found the gameplay unintuitive and did not realize that I would be swarmed from every direction by enemies. I could not make it past level 4 in multiple tries :( I think a game over screen would help, and I had to refresh the page to restart the game (if I went back to the main menu after losing to restart, no humans would spawn in wave 1.)

Chrysopelea by fizzbark 2023-10-08T23:46:58Z

Really loved the clean graphics, sound design, and puzzle design! Really clever concept and enjoyed the humor in the words used in the level itself and also the extra flavor text to the side.

I'm curious how the score is determined since at the end, I was told I got a score of 1 and that I should go to the literary equivalent of a gym

Color Space by Routard 2023-10-09T17:51:58Z

Really beautiful game -- love the ambient music, clean visual style, and the particles coming off the platforms! I like the puzzle design, especially how old areas being blocked off with spikes once a color orb was collected pushed me to explore new areas.

The key bindings for isometric movement felt odd, and I did not like having to hit the C, M, Y keys to swap colors. Since the buttons for raising platforms look the same before and after pressing, I would not be sure whether I hit a button before or not. In one level, there was a color platform that was raised a bit higher than the surrounding platforms, so it was hard to get off of it. It also wasn't clear to me when I completed a level -- new music would play, and I would abruptly cut to a new level. At first, I wasn't sure if I accidentally hit restart on the level or if I progressed.

Onism by AndrewYiBC 2023-10-16T08:47:50Z

Ooo, loved the art style and the SFX used, really got me feeling like I was stuck underwater! I do wish that the arrows were lit up more clearly when searching for parts since I didn't notice them at first.

wild maid by thyoi 2023-10-16T10:01:45Z

I liked all the silly cards that popped up starting the second round! The game is very visually polished, love the art and little animations.

Not too clear to me how it fits the theme though, I think it had something to do with the Death cards?

STOP BURYING ME ALIVE, BEAUTIFUL! by robobarbie 2023-10-09T17:22:13Z

Really haunting and beautiful. Loved the visuals and how expressive the character art is with just a few effectively-chosen CGs -- whenever Remie leaned in close I would get a bit freaked out. I do like the mechanic of moving up/down to swap between scenes/characters as well since it's a nice way to transition that also ties in w/ being buried.

I was confused by the rats in the middle --I did always click them to ward them away since the animation and squeak was funny, but I didn't actually realize I was intended to ward them off that way. Also, is the sparkly winged rat the Rat God? If so, I remember getting dialogue along the lines of "The Rat God is real after all" with Remie prior to seeing that rat.

Last Light by ArivanEverdingen 2023-10-16T08:00:34Z

I liked the pixie lighting mechanic and how that could interact with the enemies and different types of platforms! It was unexpected to me that the player did not move with the moving platform, and it felt like some of the platforms were slippery because if I didn't land in the middle, I would fall very fast down.

Subwhell in RushHour by Mealky 2023-10-05T02:31:54Z

This is such a clever take on the theme, and the art is so charming and has a lot of personality! I love the little animations and music, though I think the music would have benefited from changing tempo with the speed of the game.

It was hard to see the outlines and occasionally, there would be waves with no outlines on normal mode, so I wasn't sure which pose would be best. Is that what I'm supposed to use angry power for?

The angry power bar and the pose instructions were hard to notice while playing the game since they are off to the top corners when I would be focusing on the middle of the screen. I didn't even realize that I had to also match poses when I started playing the game, so maybe adding an instructions screen within the game would have been beneficial. I think if the angry power bar were at the bottom middle and flashed to show when it was maxed, it would help me notice it better!

Bonzios SP 9.5 by LChaves 2023-10-16T09:01:13Z

Loved this though I did not survive for long at all (1:29)!! The sound and graphics fit really well, and while I suffered a lot because of them while playing, I do really like that the popups showed up everywhere and it was easy to accidentally click download.

Catacomb by TheGamemaker-dev 2023-10-08T23:31:51Z

The graphics are super clean and I like the concept behind the game. (Also, I see the "cat"acomb pun.) It was pretty frustrating to have to continuously restart though, so I haven't gotten to the end yet. Also, when the player turns into a horizontal path, it felt like I had to move closer to the bottom edge than felt intuitive.
