I like the idea. Things you could improve: 1st Sound loop a bit longer - it get's really annoying really fast 2nd Make it so you can hit the notes based on the beat (if there's a beat you can shoot 'em up)
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD41 → Shoot the Notes

Same as @spthiel, the game could benefit a longer sound loop. With it, it would be more fun if the shoot rhythm was the same as the music, making your entry a real rhythm game.
@spthiel thanks for the comments. I'm aware of that, it was my first jam and I had little time (made in less than 6 hours), so I made things "quick and dirty". I will eventually redo the game from the ground up with real musics and rhythm (for now, the notes are just randomly spawned), better graphics/menus, highscores, etc.
@Hyorvenn c'est pas faux (same as above)
haha the drums make me feel like a super cool agent or something. Great Idea. The graphics are like I would paint it. That's why i liked them! :) Thanks for the game!
I think that game is fun, but too easy. Maybe more thrilling track and shootout with zombies? 😆
Was expecting the difficulty to ramp up the most successful hits you made, but no. Good effort for a first game jam and in less than six hours, you should be happy with what you have achieved. Thoughts for improvements, like I said some kind of ramping difficulty, I like the idea put above of hitting the beats of the sound loop, perhaps for some kind of bonus? Also different notes corresponding to different enemies and penilties if you shoot the wrong guy at the wrong time maybe? Lots of room for expansion on this one, would have been good to see what you had done had you had more time! nice work.
I appreciate the effort you put into this. When I saw that you had only put 6 hours into I was also impressed.
Maybe I missed something, but I couldn't quite get the shooting notes thing to work.
However I did like the graphics and music (albeit a bit repetitive). It gave off a unique vibe that I liked.
Nice work!
Less than 6 hours? Damn, that's short ^^ Try to figure out your schedule for the next jam so that you'll have enough time to make your game :)
Unfortunately, it harmed your game has I didn't really see the "rythm" part of the game. The notes didn't seem to be synchronised with the music... But the idea is cool. Maybe work on it now that the LD is over? Anyway, keep on working hard! :)
This is well done! It's a clever concept, and really well built for your first jam and in so short a time. It doesn't seem to get any harder over time - that'd be a good thing to add to it - but it's a solid foundation and fun as it is. Nice work!
Good use of very minimal assets to make a complete gameplay loop, from art to music to code. It even had some interesting conflict between paying attention to the rhythm bar vs the upper area of the screen. If you stick with this level of scope, but spend the entire jam polishing and juicing up the game, you will end up with a really awesome game.
I like the idea. I'll try not to repeat the criticisms in this thread but... the music got a bit repetitive. IMO the orange bar where the notes are accepted could be moved further towards the middle of the screen so that the scene and the rhythm bar can be seen as a cohesive whole. Certain notes could be colored differently to require right- or left-clicking (depending on color). Nonetheless the combination of rhythm and point/clicking is still executed well here, and under 6 hours no less. Impressive!
@wildcard thanks. Love the left/right click idea. Hope to have time/more ideas to make a proper/improved game.
Sorry that you only got 6 hours. There's an interesting concept here, but it really needs a lot more work.
Another idea would be to make you click twice on enemies when they have a double note.
Took me a try or two to get the hang of it. 2440 was the next round. It was interesting trying to watch two areas of the screen but I think I'd like it better if I could sense the note locations another way, e.g. because it matched the music like others said. Overall, impressive if you really only had 6 hours!
