What you can improve: * use custom sprite UI (menu) * show only one tutorial panel and auto dismiss it when player achieve what you want player have to learn

Interesting use of the tech stack to use multiple physics objects. I really like the strategy/management aspects here, moving the bots feel nice too. I also appreciate the added story to the game, it gives good context to what the game is about. Well done!

Very nice job. And surprisingly bug free unlike most entries (including my own xd). Great work.

This is a really interesting game, the mechanic of moving those dots around through space was really unique. it was difficult to figure out all the mechanics, like I needed to put the dots on the asteroids to make mines, and that I needed to put mines on all the types of asteroids. But overall I think you created a really interesting idea that could be consistently fun with some more game design :)

Some visual feedback for upgrades and empty asteroids would be nice. the game loop is fine but it was somwhat grindy

I love the originality of your entry! It's really fun to play around with gravity in this way.

One thing: when there were many green orbs, the game slowed down a lot, but I think the water counter still decreased at a "real time" pace.

Good game, love strategy games. The mechanics are nice and simple for a ludum dare game, which is good and the experience was good. The things id change though is how the tutorial is presented, i would not have them presented as notification cards personally. I also think that theme wise, it isnt following it that well. Still, fun game and id love to see what you make of it further :P

Did you include an executable in the linux build? Or am I just too stupid to find it? :see_no_evil:

8bit-beehive 2019-05-11 19:13

you can add different textures for the different types of rockets

aggrathon 2019-05-11 19:30

@phi The executable is `Green Goo.x86_64` in the root of the zip, you might have to add the executable permission to it (or `chmod +x "Green Goo.x86_64"` in a terminal).

@aggrathon Thanks! Turns out I was too stupid to find it :face_palm:

Unfortunately, the game crashes shortly after the first sprites appear on screen. Here's the [`Player.log`](https://gist.github.com/saeub/590da7f31e13cdeb902ea957fd424212). I'll try it on a different machine tomorrow.

Best Plot ever!

Game mechanics are also pretty fun to meddle with and it all fits very well together. The theme connection is a bit tenue. but who cares, the game is fun to play! :D

Keep up the good work! :)

AMAZING GAME! I played it all the way through just because of how enjoyable the experience was. Good interpretation theme, and I love how you made the game around the concept of "grey (green) goo". The music almost brought me to tears and the graphics were adequate for what was required and the time you had. It really shows how music can invoke emotion, and that graphics aren't king.

I can't explain how satisfying it was to have a giant clump of bots on the mothership, and to just sling them onto nearby planets. It was "slightly" difficult to get started, but after like 30 seconds of messing around I figured it out. Excellent game, especially for only making it in 48 hours!

Good job!

Definitely fun to play. The struggle to control the blobs makes this game quite adorable to play. Even making stupid mistakes here is relaxing. Also the intro story was great. It might sound weird to you, but I think this kind of game would work great in VR, in real 3d.

cristihkj 2019-05-16 15:44

The game is nice and has potential! Good job! :)

phi 2019-05-20 20:36

I got it to work on a different machine.

I really liked the game! The controls and physics felt quite unintuitive at first (kinda un-physic-y), so I needed a couple of restarts before I could grow a sustainable population. I found it was easiest just to fling a ton of blobs in the asteroids' general direction and spam click the asteroids as they fly by. In the end the resource balancing seemed to work out very well, and sending a giant army of green blobs towards the planet, destroying the satellites on the way was *very* satisfying.

The graphics could use some work to look more polished, but the GUI is simple and intuitive and the tutorial is well made too. Overall, awesome job! Thanks for making this :)
