Cool game! 594.16 seconds on my first run. The mechanics were interesting but I'm still not sure I fully understand them. The whole time travel thing was really cool and well done. bit it did get a bit repetitive after a while. Good use of the theme!

The mechanic in this game is very enjoyable. And music fits perfectly.
I would change the lever activation with a key rather than depending on the character's movement. The game is already hard enough and failing because you move a little to close to a lever is frustrating.
Also, a retry button would be great, since the music pushes you to play fast, it's breaking the pace when you have to wait because you know you can't win.
Last thing, I couldn't make it to the end because the game was becoming very laggy (I confess I had to try many times the level with 2 levers and 3 platforms). Maybe some resources could be released between levels?
Hope you continue to improve this game, it got a lot of potential!

interesting game, though you might want to put a seizure warning for the time reverse thing. the game actually gave me a headache after playing this for a long period.

Hai! I played your game on stream today, you can find the video here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/418104572?t=02h40m18s
Really nice concept, I managed to make quite some progress but I also had the lagging problem. Very good game though!

Clever interpretation of the theme! I have to admit I didn't get very far, but I had the feeling if my brain worked better I would've really enjoyed it. I didn't quite get what was happening with the periodic "watch out for the time!" automatic reversals... it might have been easier to understand if you'd introduced the mechanic more gradually. Still, though, great work.

@syrapt0r Thank you! Yeah, those lags were painful to watch, and I have no idea why it's lagging :/ On my pretty bad computer it works. Still, I appreciate the feedback!

Huh, cool idea! It took me a few tries to get how it worked, but I eventually got it.
As Syrapt0r, on my computer it starts to lag very badly on the third level... I wonder why that is...
Good concept ! It's funny to see your character go backwards. It was an interesting experience.
aa.PNG Very cool game, the only thing I would change is the interaction with the levers as it was kind of buggy and activate multiple times instanteneosly. Besides that very cool level designs with nice mechanics. But, is a soul a life? Have plants souls?
The art looks so simple, and then you get to the time travel effect, that was awesome. Great sound effects for it too. Good job!

I'm impressed you managed to implement a reverse mechanic this well. The effect looks awesome! Well done!

Really cool game! The mechanic is complex and allows to iterate on the game design. The level are fun and progressive and this allows you to understand principles of mechanic in a logical way. Very clever game! Great job
Genius game! I had so much fun! I love the effects (trails, flashes and sound). A game that makes you think :)

This game throws my memory back to the good old game boy days when I used to play with some addicting yet frustrating platform game spending several whole afternoons just to make my 10-pixel character jump on an higher platform and being killed a second after by some noisy odd.
Level restart SFX is perfect and i find also the physics better than many platform games you can play online/download from app stores. I didn't feel the need for a more complicated artwork, and that means the gameplay is absorbing me 100%...

Cool mechanics! I felt that the theme was a little bit weird. I loved the particle effects also! The sound was also quite good.

Hey! I really enjoyed playing this one! The time travel is quite interesting and fits the story perfectly. I have just one complaint. The horizontal movement is a bit unresponsive. But aside from that the game mechanics work perfectly. Good one! :v:

Got to love that trippy effect! Cool fun game, congrats!
I may have to come back to this to see if I can figure it out more. I didn't quite understand what was going on but the mechanics look fun. Nice effects and sound.
Cool concept. Loved the effects and audio. Was a little difficult to understand though. Overall, great job!

Really nice game for a jam, it's pretty ingenious :D Loved the reverse effect, which give some insanity to the mood of the game. The little intro is funny too, even if you play square, i like to have some humor, to feel the developper spirit ^^ The gameplay is really efficient too and can lead to a full game, with more levels, so maybe go further in post-jam : D
The black square mechanic is also well done, and you did a wonderfull level design around it !

I like the time travel mechanic but I find the time for a level is a little bit too short

Yooooo back it up this is actually hype! This mechanic is sooo cool, and the last two puzzles especially really greatly showcase it. Sound effects and music too are fantastic, and the reversal effect of the music sounds great and obviously works thematically. Speaking about themes, I'm glad more people are taking the time-pun interpretation of "currency", happy I wasn't the only one to resort to that lol.
Some feedback for areas of polish that I think would improve it even further:
- Tell me the reset button ahead of time! I was so happy when I hit Enter accidentally and learned about it - The movement is really floaty! I don't know if this is on purpose but I think tightening it up would make it feel waaay better, and it's not like tricky platforming is the main goal here anyway - I'd like it if when I get near a lever, the blocks that it'll affect get highlighted or something. It's not something that's toooo bad with these small levels, but I can imagine it getting daunting reaaaal fast - Even if you had infinite budget keep the fancy squares around, it gives this an old-school Newgrounds Flash vibe that hits everyone right in the nostalgia.
Really really good! I'm really happy I saw this one!

Well done! I love the music and visual effects, particularly with the time reversal. I also was confused by the automatic reversals that happened when I ran out of time the first few times. Maybe differentiating between the lever-triggered and timer-triggered reversals would help. Even just a message after the "watch out for time" message that said "Time's up, try again" would have helped me understand.
I think you have a lot of awesome potential with this idea for some really cool levels. I had a bit of a problem with the trial-and-error nature of some of the levels. As far as I could tell, there wasn't anyway to tell which levers would trigger which platforms to disappear, or where i could safely place the black box before triggering the timer. As a result, it felt like I was doomed to fail several times before working it out. I like puzzle-platformers where you can reason out the solution more than trial-and-error, but I'm sure that comes down to personal preference. I watched your video to see the ones that I wasn't smart enough to get to and it looks like you have some really creative ideas of how to use the mechanics already. Great work!
My square is made out of greased ice! I couldn't get very far, but I sorta got the hang of it. The inertia was just too frustrating... My favorite part was the exposition! I love square drama.
Even though I love time travel I found it a bit confusing to figure out what was going on =) Saying that, it was an innovative twist on the platformer to include the reverse time mechanic and with the system of having the switches alter the level. The controls were a bit "swampy" maybe but you get used to them after a while. I often fall victim to allowing the physics engine to maintain realism with inertia and it's something I've often had feedback on myself in previous ludum dares. When you iterate the prototype of a game it's easy to quickly get used to how it feels personally and it's also difficult to predict what first time players will feel. Nice concept though!
