I guess the game stays unfinished. I could only unpack some boxes and there was nothing else to do (maybe I am missing something but I see some 'pending' features in your description). With that said, the sprites look awesome and the music is nice.

Really like the graphics and music well done. It is a shame you ran out of time to finish the gameplay, but i do look forward to playing your finished version when you get round to completing it. It is a really nice idea Well
@bar0net @teelin Thanks guys for checking out the game. I managed to fix the bug that stopped anything from working when you started the game :D so feel free to give it another go, but if not thanks for coming by <3
Despite the "pending" features, I'd say this is still a fun little quirky game ! Seems like another Honest Dan's classic. I love your style of pixel art and the music is exceptional (it's sticking in my head). Sure some animations would be nice, but that's putting the cherry on the cake! Well done buddy. I'll be sure to play this again if/when you finish this one.
This is a really nice game. I love the conversations that change and the cat and that you can choose partner/character and everything. After a few days I got a hang of it and started really trying my best to earn "partner"'s love. However, it was gamebreaking to me that after a while some bug with the conversations came up. Sometimes partner starts with "I've been thinking..." and then immediately after she says she needs to go to work! Sometimes she says shes dissatisfied and I still have done my utmost and get 100%. Sometimes a day skips and I end up with 4 boxes outside of the house after one night... I end up further away from the goal.. It was however a really nice game so I hope you can fix these bugs in the future! It was funny and looked good and had a fitting music! I was indeed entertained and played it for quite some time!

I like that you are able to pick a character, partner and cat. Although I do not get why someone wouldn't pick one of the sunglass dudes, they are the best. I know you put a lot of work in the pixel art, and I totally love how it turned out! The music is great and I had a great laugh when I read the dialogs.
Sadly my partner seems to want to leave me, because I am apparently not good enough. Although I think I'm pretty good: madtactics.gif
With some practise in the sunglasses game, I might be able to score a new partner that _does_ respect my cleaning endeavours. I am not sure what I am doing wrong to earn 0% satisfaction.
Nonetheless, I really enjoyed playing. The lower satisfaction ratings kept me sharp and stimulated me to do better. I felt like I had enough to do with current functionality. And I lost track of time for a bit. Great work, keep it up!
I enjoyed this game! It's hard to remember to do all the things you're told to do, but it's really well put together overall. Great work!
Good art and fun gameplay. I did have a bit of problem alining the boxes to push them outside but. For the rest was a game that hits very close to home ;)
Hey Dan! Nice entry! I enjoyed the humor and all the options. I'm glad that you didn't get to implement the "go find the item you stored yesterday" option because I know I would have sucked at it
The entry was incredibly clean and I liked it. Aligning the boxes to a grid might have made everything a little easier to push around, but I think you intended the difficulty to be part of the game. Things can get pretty frantic.
An organizing puzzle game with fntastic art, great music, multiple characters and they seem to have CHARACTERISTIC as well. There is a lot in your game that I appreciate, I think you went a bit big with this game so its hard to finish everything on time, but it sure showed the potential. Great great job!!

really creative, love the cat !!
Graphics and soundtrack are good. Sadly the gameplay is lacking especially since it seems impossible to clean up all the stuff in one day that is needed to reach 100%. Anyways the controls are great and the core gameplay functions well
@javasaurus thank you for your kind words and glad you got a bit of fun out of it.
@julia-lundman that bug has been fixed now. I am very sorry it affected your game play. When it said "Ive been thinking - you were going to get the ending script. So you were playing it right. The packages each day increase. Day 1 you get 1... by day 4 you'll get 2 a day... 8 will be 3 a day.. an so on. Thanks for writing such a detailed review. The satisfaction is based on the state of the house, not especially how much you've done - so if you try real hard but still have some things left.. it'll still annoy your partner. The cat is HIGH priority.
@swen has been balanced a bit now, 9 extra seconds a day .. but not sure if it'll be enough for you! All I'll say is the cat plays a big role <3 Oh - and if I saw you do such moves with 3 boxes... I'd be down on one knee.
@mateusboga yeah, I considered a check-list of things to do, but no time and also it may remove the "mystery" behind the satisfaction score.
@aterlamia cutting real life themes presented with cutesy pixels and chirpy music... :D no one will hear you cry.
@minibobbo thanks bud <3 Yeah there isn't much "skills" to the game other than memory so thats why I kept the box movement stuff tricky. Dragging it can give you more control sometimes. Thanks for playing.
@nam-nguyen appreciate the words - I am aware this entry wont compete in terms of rankings, but want people to see the concept and laugh a little <3
@iballs and the cat loved you.
@sirmichel its not about 100% one day - its above the long game. Hard work on one day will leave you with still mess! but thats okay, cause tomorrow it'll be easier... and slowly.. but surely, you'll earn that respect and a blossoming relationship ensues :D Thanks for taking the time to play it <3
My only gripe is that as a hoarder you are allowed only one cat. Cat hoarding DLC, please.
I really dig the easy and open relationship choices!

When I originally played the game on submission day, I had trouble figuring out what to do. Also, I'm pretty sure I was always encountering the game breaking bug, stopping the time from passing. After seeing your last post and watching your demonstration video, I came back to play the new version. And I'm glad to say: I was not disappointed! I had a very fun time playing the new version. It does get easy after you've cleaned up the initial clutter in the house, though. I understand that the scope was way too large for a jam game, but I absolutely see what you were aiming for, and I am excited to see any further updates! I'm especially excited to see where the organization (of small items) aspect goes.
To be fair, I will be rating this entry on the __1.0.1 version__, as this was the one released on submission day. _(Also, maybe you should have a download for that version, with the game-breaking bug fixed.)_
Excited to see where this goes!
@lillybyte no! #catslivesmatter
@lost-dutchman-software nice to see you again, glad you enjoyed!
@noahro ofc you're welcome to rate that. I'll release a proper post jam version in a week or so. The game breaking bug occured 100% of the time, meaning none of the dialog would work, the days wouldnt pass, the deliveries wouldn't come, the recycling wouldn't be taken away, etc. The bug caused a nasty knock on effect, but its what I get for leaving the coding until day 3! When fixing it, I did add some things to make it more clear - like the recycle bins so it was more clear where to place the bins, and covered up the UI elements that were not active, and added the how to play dialog and player select since it was done and not hooked up (tbh it just sets a sprite based on which button you press). Thanks for checking it out again, appreciated.

I feel totally unappreciated for my efforts, I give her my all and she just keeps asking for more. Now I'm even more depressed, but well relationship broke for the best...

on the 4th day my package finally came in! the book of memes!
Haha I had so much fun with this. I loved how my partner kept asking me to pack the things each day again and again and always coming home with saying that she was 0% satisfied with me. 5 stars humor!
Untitled.png I actually got stuck at the door with all the packages. An intended difficulty? :D
For a more serious feedback, I was pretty much reminded of a directly controlled version of Sims. The art style is so cute, I especially like the orange cat since we have one at home that pretty much looks like that. I can really imagine this to be a casual mobile game. Well done!
Interesting game. Bug (I assume): Pausing the game during the beginning dialogue of a day, and then un-pausing causes the timer to resume and allows the player to move but not interact with objects until the dialogue has completed. The graphics are very nice, the main thing I noticed is that while most UI items have a border around them, the panels on the left and right side don't have any border and just transition right into the main game screen. It also seemed a bit strange to have both a pickup/drop button as well as an interact button; perhaps that would be needed when the game gets much more cluttered, but I found myself wasting time trying to open the container screens by pressing the pickup/drop button and since the time during each day is limited that was frustrating. The music was nice, some sound effects would help towards cohesiveness as well. It would also be nice to see which 'tile' you're aiming at, as sometimes I would actually be aiming above the character while thinking that I was aiming at a side container do to the character facing that direction. Hope this was useful, and nice job!
Really incredible entry. Very well done. I had a lot of fun with it. Best one I've played so far!
Hey thank you again to try our game in your live stream !
So here is my feedback on your game.
First, I like the idea, of organizing home and cleaning (even if I'm terrible at it, even in real life), and the interface is pretty clear ! Music was super nice and fit the game very well !
However, controls are really difficult, I think there are way too many buttons (Shift / E / Spacebar / Mouse click), it's hard to hold shift while moving with WASD when you grab an object, having to switch between keyboard and mouse is also a bit annoying. The entry door is too small for me, it gets hard to pull or push things in/out.
Also I needed to play the game 3 times to get what I was asked for, because darling was coming back home way too early the first times since I had to discover the game, the house set up and so on, so it would be great to have a bit more timeslot for the first days in order to understand all of this.
And in its current state, the game becomes repetitive quite fast, let's see the post jam version, it should bring I guess more diversity
I wasn't able to drag any of the items. But I figured out how to use the character to push them. I really enjoyed the writing, it was humorous because I failed a lot. Really great use of the theme.
Hey, this is a very good game!! I liked the idea of how you put the theme into it, very funny and kind of realistic too haha :D Unfortunately i was a very bad organizer (as i always am in real life haha) and the only one which didn't left me was the cat, good cat haha The music also gave me a very nice feeling, it reminded me of those harvest moon games from game boy advance, very good! The graphics also matched very well the game, simple but fantastic! I saw that the game isn't finished yet, since you put "coming soon" about some subjects, and in my opinion when you finish it, it will be even better, so keep working on it, good job! ;)
"I am 0% satisfied with you today." Damn, right in the feelz.
It even has an options menu! Wow. Very polished!
The character moved a little too quickly for me to really get anything done in the fairly short timeframe. But it looks like a really good game!
@yami-no-tenshi-8 appreciate the feedback. The time thing is intentional. I wanted people to fail and learn, since 70% of the mechanics were missing. It is now possible but hard. Also - if you work hard day 1 and 2, you'll get low satisfaction but by day 3-4 you'll be in control of the house and satisfaction is higher. Please see bottom of this post for more info on controls and satisfaction.
@colin-doody Thank you for taking the time to play it.
@apples-mmmmmmmm Thanks for reporting that bug. Yes my pause sets my state machine back to "PLAY" instead of "IN_DIALOG", I'll add something in to cache the "previous state" instead of just defaulting back to play. The aiming interaction is a problem. I was going to add sprites for different directions to help, but time. I'll do so eventually, or a small directional arrow. See below about controls, but also - really tried interact and pickup small item on same button, but there would exist some scenarios where it is highly frustrating as you cant pick something up (if surrounded by iteractable items for example, or wanting to drop something close to a storage unit so you can locate a specific item). I'll consider adding that white border trim to the edges of the UI bars. Thanks for feedback.
@xarras the game is meant to push some real themes in a disguised way. but for more help on satisfaction levels, check the info on satisfaction at the bottom of this post.
@merpader I knew some would appreciate the silliness! <3 wish I had more time to make a load more items.
@frittatenbank that picture's hilarious! did you try using the drag mechanic? You can actually move all directions while dragging, so can navigate boxes a lot more accurately. Regarding the satisfaction issues, check the info on satisfaction at the bottom of this post.
**CONTROLS**: Yes, I agree. Before there was a button for dropping small item too :D It could have been worse haha! I spent some time yesterday working out new controls. I have decided on WASD still, E for drop/pickup small item, Space for dragging. Then clicking I've implemented it so you click on the interactive objects to interact with them (cat, storage, package). This makes sense because for package and storage you need mouse to click to remove / place items anyway. It still doesnt feel great but it feels better - brain remembers clicking is different to keyboard press, I believe.
**SATISFACTION**: Many complain they work hard and get 0% satisfaction score still. This is reasonable. Your partner is judging the state of the house and the tasks you should have done to keep it tidy. At the beginning, there is too much for you to clear up. Logic doesnt matter, your partner returns and sees a mess and isn't happy. But over a few days you should be able to get most of the mess under control - then providing you keep the cat fed, you will start hitting those higher numbers. Remember: Cat > Unpack packages > Small items in storage > Recycle old packages.
@tinykidtoo That is a shame. It should be holding down left-shift, but to begin a drag you need to be "facing" an item and close to it. Facing has no visual indicator sorry, it basically means "the last direction you moved has to be facing the object". I am glad you still got some enjoyment out of it.
@rebelloeric there's a reason there's so many people with cats... :D The game play isn't right atm as most of the features I couldnt get in. It is hard atm, but that's because it gives the game some replay-ability as you realise the things you need to do to earn your partners satisfaction. Thanks for trying and reviewing :)
@echo-team the feelz indeed. is it obvious I've recently separated from a partner!??!?! :D regarding time - yes I set it to be fast. I wanted it that way, as it was the only way to add some "challenge" and "learning " to the game, an adds that pressure and lets your house "run out of space". Won't be that way in the "final" version I hope to create some day.
I absolutely love this game! I played it several times and the only reason I stopped because things pilled up so much since it is getting more difficult and I had to stop but it was so enjoyable.
I see a lot of potential in it and I really hope you continue working on it to add the coming soon features and much more. In my opinion, this game really excelled in the fun and graphics category.
Great job :)
@furiouswitch comments like that are what make LD worth it <3 I have silly ideas for games often, not these "sell-able" products, but to see people enjoy them makes me know it's good I continue to make them. Thank you <3
Fun game you've made, fits with the theme quite well. But controls felt a little bit uncomfortable for me. I think it would have been way better if you were able to grab heavy stuff by just pressing shift, not holding it the whole time.
@annie-owl thanks for playing. Appreciate the feedback - the controls have been addressed since, but yeah I haven't posted my current build of the game. For details how I changed it, see a few comments above under the header CONTROLS <3
@honest-dan Yeah, I've missed that, sorry :slight_smile:

She buys so many washing machines! I enjoyed the game. Great job!
@honest-dan I feel for you, friend, I know exactly what you're talking about :)
Wish you the best and always follow your heart no matter what.

Very nice polished game ! The music plays beautifully, the pixel art is kind of nice. It can be at times frustrating especially when you try your best and the partner comes back too fast and says that it is not satisfied. I had to push through to get some satisfaction. Controls were a bit not intuitive as I needed to stop pressing one key for another to work, but I guess you know that already :) It was a cute experience, with lots of work in the design. I can say that there is a nice content in your game even if the gameplay gets a bit cut off. Nicely done !
Brilliant! I thoroughly enjoyed playing this. From a glance it seems fairly simple, but you really packed a lot of polish into this! The music/art worked well together to create a mood and had some excellent pacing. I especially like the banter between the couple. It gets a little real. Too real 0_0 Thank you for making this! Well done!

This is cute and almost addictive. I spent a bit more time on it than I should have. Only note I have that could make it better would be to make the first couple of days a bit easier. It looks like you already have the mechanics set up so you can increase the clutter over time, but my significant other hated me so promptly the first few days! lol.
Good ideas and execution. Glad you are working on it further :)
This was a lot of fun! I've only played+rated the jam game for now, but I'll try the post jam version in a bit. It's hard but the music and graphics make it satisfying
I played the jam version to rate your game. I loved the character customization options, but it seems that these nice features didn't let you finish some features in time. I will definitely try a post-jam version. I liked the graphics (love pixel art!) and music. The gameplay seemed to be a bit difficult and not very clear to me.

I thought I'd played the Jam version, but I think I must have somehow played the Post-Jam version by accident. Not sure how I managed that.
The game does get a little repetitive, but it's still very entertaining. The first couple of days are pretty hectic, but your partner's comments are so funny that I didn't even mind not doing very well. In fact, the game as a whole is very amusing - why does your partner want you to show her your Book of Lust just as she's about to head off to work? One can only imagine...
I love the character customisation (especially the ability to be in a same-sex relationship), and the ability to purchase more space to deal with the "running out of space" aspect. The graphics are good, and the music is a nice little background loop that doesn't get annoying. Good job!

I liked it a lot, haha. The graphics and audio were good, the gameplay got fun once I got used to a sort of cycle to manage (gotta say, the whole onboarding process was rough but rewarding). The mood set up by the text throughout the game was great, and while the theme interpretation is pretty normal, I like how the comical backstory makes it unique anyways. I could see it released as a full game in the humorous form of a "date sim + your partner's mess tycoon". :D Well done!
