LD42 — Running out of space

Inventorious by MatiErnst 2018-08-14T15:28:59Z

This was really entertaining! Definitely one of the more interesting takes on the whole inventory management theme. Well polished too! Made it to the "Thanks for playing" level, which I assume is the last? Not sure if it's supposed to be beatable, but I gave up after a while... :D

Birdbird can't fly! by Togimaro 2018-08-15T23:28:39Z

I enjoyed this a lot! Loved the artstyle and humour! Gameplay was nice and challenging as well, the only thing that bothered me was that replaying a level after you lost felt a little tedious since you had to wait for things to happen a lot. Apart from that, Great entry! Good job! :)

Legacy by gil4 2018-08-15T01:11:15Z

I really enjoyed playing this! Great art and overall mood; Nice subtle storytelling through the item descriptions; Varied platforming challenges that were not too easy but didn't turn frustrating either. Good job all around, thanks for making this! :)

Eventful Horizon by bitdecay 2018-08-14T18:14:09Z

This was a lot of fun! The learning curve felt really smooth going from just throwing wherever to actually having to plan out your shots. And the visual presentation, including the cutscenes, was very well done! I did unfortunately lose motivation when I died pretty far in and it just restarted from the very beginning... Maybe some sort of checkpoint system would have been nice. Apart from that, great job! :)

Dirty Duty by grahhhhhhhhh 2018-08-17T02:13:10Z

I enjoyed this! Like the silly concept and how it fits the theme perfectly! The voice acting was a real nice touch, added a lot of character & humor! I did get a little unlucky and lost in a way i felt like i couldn't have prevented. The first thing I pooped on was the couch, only to find out one day later that my owner was going to watch tv on thursday. but by then it was too to do anything about it :'( Another tiny thing I personally would have welcomed would be for it to be playable using only the mouse (click to walk) or only the keyboard (space to poop). I prefer playing with one hand when possible, and having the controls split this way felt a little unnecessary. But that's being really nitpicky, all in all I really liked this one! Good job! :)

Take care of her by KiiroHanabi 2018-08-27T18:02:27Z

This was great! The writing was spot-on and felt very sincere, and the decisions between which memories to keep made me consider whether I wanted to preserve Daniel's memories as accurately as possible and only keep the most important events, or if I wanted to "edit out" the negative memories and keep the good ones. In the end, I decided against both, and instead chose to let Daniel remember people instead of events, which for me was a very powerful moment.

I sometimes had trouble with the readability of the text, especially when it was tilted (line breaks became hard to follow). Also, although the music was amazing, some of the tracks felt a little too intrusive for my taste, which also distracted me from reading.

Apart from that, it was a really beautiful experience. Thanks for making this!

The Hero's incredible Chronicles by Gaming Night 2018-08-17T16:15:08Z

Excellent work. :) I enjoyed the ridiculously overexaggerated intro (and the hilarious posts you've been doing to promote the game), which heightened the expectations but already kind of makes the player suspect that none of what they are made to believe is actually going to be in the game. I played the whole thing wondering what the twist would be and was not disappointed. Great stuff!

The Hero's incredible Chronicles by Gaming Night 2018-08-17T16:33:44Z

@gaming-night I actually liked how far you went with it! I think it makes people think "this sounds too good to be true" and makes them curious about the game. It also makes people less angry when they get to the twist, because they already kind of expected something like it. And the twist is still great because noone expects it to be about the spacebar. I still laughed, even though I knew some sort of twist was coming. :)

Looking forward to that DLC-release! :P

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-15T14:06:16Z

I enjoyed this a lot! I love the artstyle and the player character is just adorable! :D The puzzles were challenging and varied, but never got frustrating. I ran into one bug where I finished a level but somehow the level complete screen didn't show up and when I went back to the menu it wasn't marked as complete. (I was very grateful that I could just skip to the next level anyway!) Anyway, good job on this! :)

Malthusian Cathouse by Alan Lu 2018-08-17T15:56:19Z

This was hilarious. Somehow, the timing was so perfect that just about in the last couple of seconds, my cat population started exploding and I could do nothing but sit there and hope my roommate wouldn't kill me.

Only negative for me was that I was stuck with the first two cats for quite a while because I thought the game had already started. Not sure what the best way to prevent that would be, maybe the next event should just happen automatically after a while if the player doesn't let the cats touch.

Apart from that, one of my favourites so far. Good job!

Running out of Space by Andre van Zuydam 2018-08-14T01:45:32Z

I give up... Landing the second ship is just impossible! :D Really liked the intro at the beginning and the overall presentation of this, very charming :)

Save the dudes by jjcp 2018-08-15T20:38:25Z

This was short but sweet, good job! Cute graphics and the difficulty was just right. Having to try a level a couple of times before beating it didn't bother me at all because each try only took a couple of seconds. I was sad when it was over, would love to play more of this! :)

Greenie Goes Right by quicklyer 2018-08-14T19:48:55Z

Great stuff! I have to admit it took me a while to figure out how the scoring worked, since I somehow didn't immediately understand what "# of loops" was supposed to mean. I played the first couple of rounds trying to move as little as possible in the hopes that my multiplier would somehow increase :face_palm: (Those rounds were not very exciting :P)

Apart from that, a simple but fun concept very well executed. Good job! :)

[ARK_DRIVE] by Josia Roncancio 2018-08-14T23:52:57Z

@snails84 Oh no, sorry to hear that! Poor animals! Would love to fix it, but no idea what happened there :/ This was the first time I wrote anything in batch and to be honest I still don't really understand how half of it works

Shape Smash by Devin_Brimer 2018-08-14T23:08:25Z

This was surprisingly addictive! Simple concept, but really well put together. Well done! The slowly growing shapes made it really intense, I had several moments where I barely removed them last second before I would have lost. The only thing that put me off a bit was that the container shapes aren't always the same and don't feel balanced. Makes it hard to properly keep track of your record and compare it with others... Anyway, my overall best was 84.56 sec

We are running out of Space Janitors by DUandI 2018-08-14T22:41:50Z

This was fun to play! Good job! My record is 550 points and I totally forgot I could dash while playing :face_palm:

LD44 — Your life is currency

Your life is my money by squaredev 2019-04-30T15:41:51Z

This was a whole lot of fun, good job! Really enjoyed the humorous dialogue and the ending sequence had me cracking up! Thanks for making this :)

Robber & Robert by LiquidBrain 2019-04-30T15:05:47Z

This was hilarious! Got a couple of good laughs out of me :D (I do feel a little bad for stealing Robert's toilet though)

FINGER FIGHTER - High Stakes by Erik Brunnstrom 2019-04-30T12:39:56Z

This is excellent! A lot of depth for such a simple concept. And the cutting-sound is perfect in how disgusting it is :D

Would love to play a local multiplayer version of this against friends. (Although I understand it'd probably be tricky to make this work on only one screen)

Unfortunately, I got stuck on the cutting screen when I had only one finger left but was supposed to cut off two. Had to force-quit the game to get out of it...

Apart from that, great job! Keep it up! :)

Knock Knock... The travelling soulsman by Angry Squirrels 2019-05-01T10:16:27Z

This was a lot of fun! The door opening and closing is a really clever way of showing the people's reactions to what you say and your overall progress with a person and created a lot of tense moments for me where I knew: If I screw up now, it's over. I also liked how each of the clients had a different way of revealing what their desires were. The grandma that secretly wanted to dominate the world was definitely a highlight! :D

Sinking Town by detectiveLosos 2019-04-30T16:12:37Z

Would love to play this since it looks really cool, but all I get when i start it is a dark screen with some UI on it... :/ screenshot.png

Sinking Town by detectiveLosos 2019-05-01T10:04:57Z

@annie-owl Thanks for fixing the post-processing. It works perfectly now! :)

I really enjoyed the level design and overall aesthetics of this game! The town feels very believable and is a lot of fun to explore. And the characters are very charming as well. Good job!

The Giving Thing by Jam373 2019-04-30T15:14:05Z

Ooof, this made feel uneasy/sad in all the best ways... Great mood. Horrible people. Thanks for making this; keep it up!
