Really fun game, some parts are harder than others. Great music and looks amazing. Suits the theme really well!

gamepopper 2018-08-13 12:53

Really fun and difficult platformer, the shiny blocks having a different function on each level is a really neat idea. I love the rounded and blocky pixel design.

neipo13 2018-08-13 14:32

Super fun, clever idea of the platformer tightening into the center of the level. Audio was great along with graphics!

draperdanman 2018-08-14 12:10

This was fantastic! I had been following your progress. This turned out really great. I really struggled with that final saw section! haha Awesome work :muscle:

zicboy 2018-08-14 14:26

Loved this game! haha graphics and mood were spot on!

vekstr 2018-08-14 15:05

What a fun little game, and it actually feels complete and rewarding at the end :grinning:

And those soundtracks! I guess you didn't make it yourself? I would've given it 5 stars if I can..

anstabo 2018-08-14 15:10

It took me some death to finish your game but it was worth it. I think you should put way more checkpoint than that, i don't think a lot of people are experienced platformer player, and i almost quitted at the saw section. There is also a death at spawn during the last saw checkpoint.

Great visual aswell as a fitting sound for your game. The character reminds me a lot of super meat boy and when i first saw the saw (pun not intended) i remembered the pain.

I didn't really understood the link between the theme and your game though.

Congratz for this game man.

constantin 2018-08-14 15:12

Really cool platforming, I especially liked the first world because its "special cubes" felt more responsive and going with the flow of the game while those in the second world kinda broke it for me (mostly those in the first parts where you have to wall jump, I found those on the ceiling and ground to be much more interesting). Art and audio are booth really good even though I found the music to be a bit too colorful and happy for the darker graphics.

panurge 2018-08-14 15:19

Great little game, feels complete and polished as it is. Lovely tight controls and well planned levels, I enjoyed this one a lot. Great aesthetic too. Nice work!

dasun 2018-08-14 15:27

Amazing, Im so jealous of your music.

lsd 2018-08-14 15:28

Died quite a few times but I enjoyed the experience. The music is awesome and the artwork is lovely. My favorite mechanic was the sticky roof but I would've liked a way to just drop down from the stick blocks instead of jump off them (that jump killed me a lot :P). Overall great game!

saering 2018-08-14 15:46

That's the kind of games I like to play, just hard enough to require concentration but not impossible. Simple mechanics very well used, REALLY great graphics and audio, and nice use of the theme. I also like the fact that you allowed players to choose between 2 ways at the ends, it was a nice challenge, and it felt very rewarding doing them !

One of the best I've tried so far, bravo ! ;)

**Very cool!**

Cute pixel art with some nice animations and controls were super tight. I guess the music wasn't done by you guys or at least not during the jam but holy heck it was awesome, especially when the second level track kicked in...

Nice to see you covered all your bases with the control alternatives. Should pretty much be able to please everyone with WASD and arrow keys with separate jump button and also allowing you to jump with up.

Sound effects had some weird issues when they sometimes just didn't play at all. I think it was mostly the death sounds but caught few wall sticking sounds missing as well. The sound effects were the weakest side of the game overall. I think adding a bit of pitch variation each time a sound is played would be an easy fix for them getting too repetitive. Some sounds, again the death sound especially, could have used some more oomph.

The level design was well done and very intuitively taught all the necessary stuff without a word or even an icon. Everything went so smoothly like "oh that's a weird looking block, wonder what it does, lemme touch it, oh that, boom, understood". Only thing that really caught me off guard was the first spike, they could have looked more deadly.

The branching paths were quite unnecessary. You just made me play the whole game twice to experience everything. You could have just taken those bits, added a bit of extra and boom, a third level.

So yeah, my only complaint really is that there wasn't more of it. Good job!

allan-kong 2018-08-14 16:20

The pixel art is crisp and cute. With the music enhancing the experience. Each level was designed extremely well done, the perfect difficulty ramp and introducing new mechanics while the player advances. Reminds me of Donkey Kong Country a bit. Completing each level feels rewarding enough to carry me to the finish line. The only complaint I have is the music is a little short. But maybe it is because I take too long ._.

antti-haavikko 2018-08-14 16:33

@allan-kong I think the game was the one that was too short because it didn't let me hear to sweet sweet tunes long enough...

allan-kong 2018-08-14 16:37

Yeah, I need to find that composer and ask for an extension

nyunesu 2018-08-14 16:39

@allan-kong haha, there you go: http://moppysound.seesaa.net/

welliton 2018-08-14 18:07

Awesome game! I really enjoy the level design on the second stage! The theme is in there and the art is awesome, simple and efficient! Stoped only when i reached the "Thanks for playing" screen. I want to go deeper!

siridakis 2018-08-14 18:42

Awesome game! Great pixel art, music and tight controls. Loved the second stage's tune. The yellow "glue" tile reminded me of the honey covered walls of DK Country 2 :) Congratulations on your game!

hadi-danial 2018-08-14 18:54

Haha I loved it, was pleasantly surprised that the orange blocks were different than the blue ones. The animation is so cute, the little dust cloud. The idea of going a layer inside each time you get to the portal is pretty sweet, haven't seen that before. Good job!

randdir 2018-08-14 19:36

I really appreciate the ambiance. Graphics and music are so cute and fun. It could be a well good platformer. Keep it up team !

cobear25 2018-08-14 20:29

Great music, great visuals, and great level design!

haj 2018-08-14 20:32

Annoying jumping sound, but freaking lit music. Graphics looked really good as well. The game mechanics were simple and relatable. All in all, really great game.

kpded 2018-08-14 20:35

Nice graphics with music that fits perfect;y to the game mood. Controls are tight and the game has several interesting twists apart from classic platformer game mechanics. Well done!

icekyu 2018-08-14 20:38

The best game for me at the moment ! thank you :)!

[dfgtfd.png](///raw/20b/c/z/19748.png)

mza 2018-08-14 20:41

Its like super meat boy - hard and fun. for fitting in so many familiar platforming mechanics in such a short time. :100: to the audio guy too.

Is there any specific feedback you need?

Gameplay is fairly polished. Excellent job

gulfick 2018-08-14 20:42

Excellent game with a variety of rooms. With only two levels in the game, the traps do not repeat. Excellent selection of music and sounds. Graphically, the game is very attractive, it looks beautiful! I did not see any bugs. The only thing you can add is a timer for more challenge!

antoined73 2018-08-14 20:50

Wow really nice entry ! The graphics, sounds and controls were perfect ! And the game design.. So clever ! With a nice curve of difficulty ! I loved it ! I can't really relate the game to the theme tho

roman-petrov 2018-08-14 21:43

Couldn't finish the game, couldn't get past some difficult place, but I really loved the game. I like platformers and your is a good one. Liked the simplicity of pixel art graphics. Thank you for your work!

nyunesu 2018-08-14 21:50

Thank you for playing it! Do you mind to describe me the point you got stuck? It would help to improve the game @roman-petrov (:

joloujed 2018-08-14 21:56

Nice game, lovely pixel art, is not my favourite type of game cause I dont handle well frustation and I died a million times. But it was lovely. I had trouble with the web version, when i clicked into another tab and I came back the game stoped and i had to restart, the second time that happened i rage quit, so I didnt pass the second level. But I enjoyed what I played.

nyunesu 2018-08-14 22:00

@mza completion, duration, difficulty and if there is any stuck/stressing/boring point

bluemirror 2018-08-14 22:00

I stopped playing, when I had 2 possible paths. One upwards, one right. The right one had 2 groups of 3 saws each turning in a square. I needed to jump between the first and second saw of one group and then jump over the second and third. I didnt like this part, because I wasnt really understanding the stick mechanic. It was introduced earlier, but not enough. I didnt feel comfortable using it (didnt really get it completly at that point). The part after the 2 groups was using that new mechanic. But getting there is hard, and getting further when I am there is even harder. Didnt really allow me to understand the new mechanic enough imo.

Generally the game was hellishly hard. The only reason I came that far, without rage quitting, was because I played Super meat boy about a month ago.

The art is great especially the smoke when walking. Love it. The music fitted really well (its not from you, but you still picked a really well fitting one). The pacing of the levels is good (while starting really hard, it becomes harder at a good pace).

But the Gameplay lacked something interesting. There had been 2 "object mechanics" (the super high jump, and sticking to the block) Ive seen so far, thats cool. But the player himself doesnt have anything special. He just jumps. In super meat boy you got that sliding and therefore fluid movements which I havent seen in another game before it. Something like that would have been great. First making that, and after the "object mechanics" would have been a nice way, to make the controls feel better.

This sounds like I hate the game, which isnt true ^^ It's a good jump and run. Looks and sounds good. Gameplay is good. But I know you can do better next time :) Cheers

roman-petrov 2018-08-14 22:03

@nyunesu I got stuck here: Screen Shot 2018-08-15 at 01.01.22.png I tried both ways but didn't succeed. I understand that it's possible to get past, it was just a bit too difficult for me at this point. But I think that if I had more time, I could do it. Thank you for making infinite lives :)

grahhhhhhhhh 2018-08-14 22:13

I DID IT! Each of the sections grew increasingly tough, but doable given enough patience. I know how these jams go, so I'm sure you ran out of time to do more level creation, but probably would've enjoyed playing another couple of level sets, nice work!

cenullum 2018-08-14 22:20

hey I'm stucked there too @roman-petrov bvmnbvmnbv.PNG music and graphics were good . game mechanic as well . check points were bringing to much back , it made me sick :D overall 5/5

skullpixel 2018-08-14 23:34

Hey, congratulations on a fantastic entry @nyunesu ! The aesthetic was nice, the music reminded me of my childhood for some reason, the gameplay was fun, and it was overall an enjoyable experience. My only complaint would be that it didn't really fit the theme, but the ever-shrinking levels were cool, so I think that made up for it.

eggshelldog 2018-08-15 01:00

This is a solid entry, the level design and the feeling of control are great! I would say it's not really that innovative but I actually have a feeling like playing a published game on the market. Great Job!

kunonooni 2018-08-15 03:31

Deep Down.pngThe thrill of victory never tasted so sweet!

I want more of this! This was an incredible game! I want to play the full commercial game on my Nintendo Switch! Please make this happen. Such a solid entry! The music was great, I had the game running and just sitting on the first level while I was browsing twitter. The Art is fantastic and the controls felt good. Congrats on finishing your game!

wrenpirate 2018-08-15 08:09

I guess I'm the only one who got stuck before the theme revealed itself. In the second level, I couldn't move fast enough to dodge the blocks that kept bouncing me up. I was there for about two minutes. Then I gave up. I like the style and especially the color palette of the visuals. The music was appropriate. I thought the bouncing blocks that defeated me were a cool usage.

leeloo 2018-08-15 11:34

Awesome, I think this is one of my favorite games so for, only the theme isn't matched that much in my opinion but still a great game. I love the different mechanism of the blocks, this is really cool. It starts out nice and easy and then it gets really hard. I think you could have placed a portal in the second level after the glue-jumping section in the beginning, I died at the saw and that was a bit frustrating to do the the jumping up again. But overall a really nice game, would play it again. Oh and the graphics are perfect, awesome style.

kimonoh 2018-08-15 11:38

This game feels well polished and it's a good, but different, take on the theme. The graphics looks amazing and I look forward to see if this goes anywhere else!

tannimun 2018-08-15 15:45

I love the death animation <3 Fun game with some unique and interresting mechanics. Good looking graphics and cute player. It really had that nice old school platformer vibe. Put me in a great mood.

mza 2018-08-15 22:38

Completion = yep completed it Duration = wanted more levels but you had 3 days. too much to ask. Stressing - Yes the last bit of the game was stressful and kinda made me angry in a good way though. I know what to do but timing for me is off. Completed it at the end though - took a long time.

Listening for the second time - the music is amazing.

Nice touch at the end, where the limk directs you to the ludum dare page embedded in. Really interested in how you did that. Care to Share

dave-troyer 2018-08-16 05:02

@nyunesu Hi! I just played your game and it was tons of fun!

Your controls were tight and responsive. Though the game feels a bit slower, I think it does fit the game play well. Your art is cute and well composed and creates a nice cohesive feel for the game, though I wish I knew more of the story of the game. The music also really fit the game well. My only real gripe would be level design, the last bounce pad obstacles were a huge ramp up in difficulty and seemed to punish the player fairly significantly. If you're continuing on with this project (which I think you guys should; its pretty awesome) I think re-imagining some of the "puzzles" or traps and spacing out the climb in difficulty would greatly benefit the your game.

That being said, I think it was great and look forward to more of you and your teams projects going forward!

pnghasemi 2018-08-16 15:07

COOL MUSIC... I really enjoyed it. The mechanics were not that unique. We've seen them in many games. But the levels you made out of those mechanics were so engaging and fun!

amba 2018-08-17 01:47

Fun game, challenging yet enjoyable. Mechanics are pretty cool. Graphics and sounds are nice too. The game feel very polished and completed.

kotoriyousan 2018-08-17 03:11

Really fun game!! I'm not a very skilled player, but this game has the magic to keep me playing. (wondering how many times I have died :-P

shell-pirate 2018-08-17 06:41

Good entry! I liked the graphics, especially the color palette and the music was awesome. The gameplay was fun and it kept me wanting to move forward despite the difficulty. I will say you could make the collision detection a little tighter as I found myself slipping from the edges of blocks (it was never truly a serious issue, just thought I would mention it). Also I am not a fan of the way the yellow sticky blocks worked. I think you should be able to let go of them without jumping vertically because it made one of the sections at the end of the second level more difficult than it should be. Other than that solid entry!

dyzzyd 2018-08-17 11:00

Okay so ... This game just took a place in my heart. The graphics are amazing, the music was amazing and the gameplay is super fun ! I didn't saw any bug when I played. Everything is polished in this game ! I LOVE IT !!

namnam 2018-08-17 15:04

Very good plateformer with a nice gamefeel, cool musics and graphics. The level design is good too. I would have like to seen a dezoomed image of the level at the end of the game because i feel like I went closer to the heart of this labyrinth but never had a chance to see all of it in once piece and so feel the theme connexion more easily. Anyway it's a very good job guys :)

randytayler 2018-08-17 18:52

I usually HATE platformers, but this was a blast. Very intuitive. I completed the game and really enjoyed it. Nice work.

Super polished, as others have said. Great work.

daniel-olsson 2018-08-17 21:49

One of the most fun I've had out of a ludum dare game, felt professional and polished and challenging. One of the most complete games if tried here, it felt like a short classic mario. Thanks for the short fun.

chronicbite 2018-08-18 02:13

Really fun game, it was a joy to play throught it honestly. wish the theme had had a stronger influence but either way a very good job! congrats

mike-inprinciple 2018-08-18 02:59

Very well designed game. I studied the learning curve alongside the difficulty curve in your game thoroughly as I was playing through and I'm impressed at your level of competence both in systems design and level design.

I can only suggest two improvements: 1. Allow a small frame of leniency to jump off of a platform. You can leave the bool grounded variable on true for a few frames before you forbid jumping when the player reaches the limits of a ledge. 2. When detaching from sideways sticky walls, pressing down bounces you up. Talk to your friend spaceface14dev for a screenshot of what I mean.

Anyway, excellent job. I hope you go far.

jin9310 2018-08-20 16:19

Really nice entry. Very well polished and all the mechanics works just perfect. This game really feels very completed and well handled. Amazing job guys!

eric-kulbiej 2018-08-24 20:41

Dark Souls are a piece of cake comparing to your game haha.

Graphics and mechanics are very nice, especially that I love pixel art. I know it's just a small game but I guess you could easily expand it into bigger fish :)

The sound background music is actually a little bit too loud. But anyways it provides great UX and immersion! (my face while doing the last challange haha)

Untitled.png

Also big thanks for feedback on my very own game! When it appears on Market I will surely tweet you that!

jon-nova 2018-08-24 21:53

Amazing game !!! the music and level design are amazing ^^

evangreenwood 2018-09-01 18:32

I really enjoyed that you worked the theme into the level design. Really tight levels as well! (it took me many deaths before beating the game, but the check points and the quick respawns stop it from ever getting frustrating).

Hope this game does really well!
