I don't think you can beat winter mode? I grabbed literally every food that showed up and put it in and still needed four. I think some of your food is spawning on the walls and destroying immediately. Also, the good/bad food seems rather arbitrary? Why are oranges not good food but doughnuts are? The art and sound was pretty good, though all the art seemed very out of place with its hyper-realism in the drawn world. In any event, good job!
The game was alright. I hold you to a lower standard because I know this was your first submission. It was rather basic and used art you did not create; you did not take the photos of the doughnut, sugar cube, :lemon:, etc.
The graphics were just inconsistent. That's the main issue with them.
Food would spawn in the snow and in the hole. This is rather annoying. I also didn't seem able to beat the game in either mode, which is surprising considering I beat the LD 42 entry Ramboom.
@incobalt Sorry if the game seems bad, it's my first finished game, I am not sure about winter mode, I had my friend playtest it and he won, although sorry for the inconvience, as for the food, I am basing it on what ants like in their diets, they do not like oranges because they are too acidic and the peel is poisonous, and donuts have sugar which a lot of ants like (the player ant seems to have a sweet tooth lol) and carbohydrates which ants also like in their diet, all the foods are based on what the ants like irl.
@driagonv Don't be discouraged! I had serious SimAnt vibes while playing it, and that was nice :) I didn't know that about oranges, though I wondered if something like that was the case. I guess ants don't really swarm our grapefruit, either. Never thought about that before! It was a good idea to put the food legend up, then, for people who don't know better like me.
For a first game, this is great, I hope you make more games and each time do better and better. Personally I liked this, a first attempt at a game and it was a playable succsess!

Fun little game, I played the winter mode and lost but then was able to collect food and win after the fact! I noticed some food was spawning in the winter area and unobtainable, might be a good idea to see the foods spawn in the playable area for a bit of balance. Otherwise, great job!
It's a fun little game. I'd have preferred the character and collectables to have been a bit smaller to give you a better chance each go, but it was nice overall especially if it's your first game.

I thought you haven't done anything for the entire jam and then tried to make something in last 1-2 hours

Congratulations on finishing your first game! It will get easier from here! (but it will still be tough because your ambition will grow) Really great getting some subtle education in there! It's made me aware i dont know much about ants! I couldn't finish winter, but i think that was my fault. Oops haha. Looking forward to seeing more from you in the future!

Looks like some game balancing is needed but overall cool interesting entry you shared. Good job on your 1st entry. Well played on creating a game on a simple concept and it completely makes sense on the theme. I tried both modes and failed both lol. It was hard because when you pick up food, it gets destroyed by the snow! Good job on your game and thanks for sharing!

Congratulations on completing your first game! Yes, it's pretty basic and needs some more work to make it better, because the idea is pretty OK and it's a good match for the theme. I almost won in strikeout mode! :)
