Hi, Drunkard
I just had a play with your game and it's a lot of stupid fun. It's very hectic and I love it. The shooting has a lot of juice to it, the sound effects are on point and shooting those damn spheres was so much fun. The graphics also had a really nice simple style to them.
I did have some problems with the framerate though. This was especially noticeable in the later stages to the game which I can only attribute to the particle effect, I would tone down on those. Another gripe I had was that once you ran out of the first few tiles (awesome interpretation by the way), you were basically playing for the last few points until you eventually died. I say, kill all the enemies on the screen when you get hit so I can get my bearings back together. Finally, I'm sure there was a pattern to the tiles destroying, however dying because you were on that falling tile when you got hit was infruriating, you could mark the tile that's about to fall red and give 2 or 3 seconds to get the hell out of there.
Otherwise, an extremely fun and hectic shooter with a great interpretation of the theme only adding to the tension. The highest score I got was 1407.
@Call-me-nutty thanks for playing and giving feedback! Thank god I'm only doing the jam, gives me a chance to quickly go and fix that performance issue. Going to give your entry a go first though :)

Using the amount of platforms as health is really innovative and really suits the game. (I recognized this game from twitter so I had to play it)

Game was cool, an interesting play on the theme. Sometimes the perspective made it hard to aim at the balls coming from the bottom of the screen so maybe a more top down angle may be better. The graphics were simple but had cool shaders matching the comic book feel.

Interesting concept. Well done! Good luck with your entry.
Shooting was satisfying. Thought the tiles falling when getting hit was a good use of the theme. Would have been cool if the little red pellets permanently splattered the tiles when they died.
To me the difficulty ramps out too slow. Otherwise nice and polished game! slow.PNG
@smithy @artemftw @tednesday Thanks for playing guys! :) Really appreciate the support and the feedback
The shooting feels great and the graphics are nice and simple. However, I found that it was best to just stay still in the middle. After 10000+ this got quite repetitive. The difficulty could maybe increase over time, and I think the player needs some sort of a reason to move.
@simonthecase 12000! Nice, best score I've seen anyone else get so far! Was toying with the idea of adding a boss battle at 10000 points and maybe increasing the enemies speed over time, but decided I would keep it simple for the jam. Might expand on it in the future though
@drunkardwolf Yeah the game is great it just needs a little something :) Gj on it!
Very addictive! The cartoonic shader was nice too, unfortunately I encountered a bug more than once, I had to push the opposite way to which the bug dragged me to stand still, if I let go it would push me off the edge :<
Other than that, I recommend this game to kill some time! My highscore standing still due to bug: 2581

The idea has a lot of potential. More variation could be introduced like more complicated floor patterns, powerups, different enemies, temporary rule-changes etc. Actually this makes me think of Missile Command. Its a bit too slow paced for my taste and while i like simple graphics, I think this game could use some more juice.
@bigjigglyproductions I'll look into that, never experienced that before, but it might be something to do with it being a WebGL build. Good job I'm only entering the jam, have some time to fix stuff like that :)

I found aiming to be a bit difficult due to the perspective, but it's a really fun game otherwise!
ahh great job! I love the take on the theme, and even though it's just capsules and spheres the toon shader makes a great impact on the whole look and feel. Good job, great use of time.
Gameplay is goo, I tested a version for you that didn't have a cursor and the cursor make it much easier to work out where your bullets are going!
Audio is nice and punchy.
The only thing I think I'd say was missing would be a leaderboard  excellent job, I'm impressed!
Incredible use of the theme, losing area based on being hit is perfect to Run out of space. Didn't play too deep into it but as a quick pick up and play it was pretty dam fun.
One of the best games I've played from this LD. Congratulations!!!!
@pedro-m-marangon Thanks man! Really means a lot :D
I really like the graphics and the camera shake, the way enemies explode is very satisfying.

A very solid game, fun to play, satisfying to kill the enemies. My only complaint is that it is a bit hard to aim properly at the enemies because of the weird camera FOV or something (They get more stretched out and distorted at the edges) Otherwise a VERY great entry :) Congrats!

Lots of fun! I love the take on the theme, you did a fantastic job!

1807 points! Really fun game! I remember a time where I searched the internet for action loaded mini games all day long. This took me back. Thanks for this great submit. If you made this game bigger in terms of levels and abilities, it could basically become a full sized game. Love the idea, the art, the mechanics and the music.
Wow this is a really polished entry! The shooting felt/looked/sounded awesome.
I had 1 round where on just my 2nd hit of damage, the tile underneath me fell out and I couldn't get away fast enough. Idk if there is a predefined order to tiles dropping, or if it's random, but it felt kinda unfair.
Overall, still a really fun addictive game that has a ton of polish!

The comic artstyle is amazing ^^
I love the art style. It's crazy that you were able to make something so simple look so amazing. I loved the game mechanics of the shrinking island. I would love for some sort of power-up system to be implemented.
Nice game! Love the toon shader with the particles when the enemies die. The sound effect is too repetitive. But in overall great job!
wow it's a good way to fit the theme! space as life. If we are able to jump and able to have different weapons, it can be a lot more fun!
Great game! Seriously, this is the reason I love LD. I haven't seen anything quite like this. Robotron meets a balancing act. Would love to see this idea explored further, powerups or some way of adding land areas? Anyhow, well done!
A fun little game! Simple, but I really enjoyed it. Although I do wish the shapes of the characters were more interesting (the player model reminds me of the default shape in Unity).
It's nice, but I think you could do better. like more arcade or more preasure, something's missing.
Good shooter game. Very challenger!
I like this a lot! Art style is cool, reminds me of comic book art a little bit. Cool yet simple concept too!
I liked that the platforms were health and the style of the game was very nice! Good game!
Cool game! I liked the simple, but stylish visuals. Great match to the theme!

Cool game, loved the mechanic and the audio. Although you opted out of the audio category. Very good theme implementation asswel. Maybe adding power ups and better art, but other then that great job man!

Hey. First of all congrats The game is awesome! I was wondering how you achieved those super cool outlines. Could you please points me on the right direction? Thanks and cheers!
@gerardb thanks 😀 to get the outline effect you just need to import unity’s toon shaders and set your material to be lit outline.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the game to run. It crashes on startup in both Opera and Edge.
Opera: "An error occurred running the Unity content on this page. ... The error was: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'buffer' of undefined"
Edge: "An error occurred running the Unity content on this page. ... The error was: Unable to get property 'buffer' of undefined or null reference"
Hey ! Great simple game, perfect use of the theme. Very well done but I have 3 small remarks / suggestions.
1. I would not use flat sprites for the enemies. The shadows they generate are pretty confusing and distracting... 2. I would make sure the player can not fall down along with a platform after being hit, especially if you would want to make the platforms a health indicator. You could for example do a simple downward raycast from the player and exclude that platform from your randomisation code to make it fall ! 3. A leaderboard could be a nice add-on here !
All in all, great idea using very basic concepts (I even think this would make a great tutorial game for Unity)
@rumor there's a download link below the player if you're still interested in playing
Simple and well executed :) Nice UX feedback from the game.
Awesome game! The music is exceptionally well done and matches the gameplay quite well. The camera angle was a bit weird for a shooter and it was a little hard to angle the shots due to its perspective. Player was responsive in movement but I did suffer a weird glitch where my character flew off the platform, but that might be a problem on my end. The difficulty curve is a little slow in my opinion, but it does ramp up eventually. Color is used extremely well as the player and enemies stand out perfectly from the white background (great for shooters!!!). Grahpics were simplistic but it really made the blood effects stand out. Solid entry, hope your game does well! Just realised audio was op't out after writing this whoops! (this is an edit)
This was so good! Simple enough to jump right in, but with some depth and juice to get you going! There are too few fun little games that are easy to pick up for a few rounds. Reminds me of games back in the day. Great work :D

@drunkardwolf that works. Very enjoyable entry! The graphics and sound were spot-on, and I too loved your take on the theme. Maybe the best I've seen! I agree the FOV weirdness made aiming kind of a challenge, and I'd really love an area attack to get a breather now and then. But overall, I think you rocked it.
@rumor Thanks man, I'm planning on continuing working on the game and have so far added a new dash feature, some new enemy types and am currently working on an ability that clears all of the enemies, just trying to figure out a way to balance it :) appreciate the feedback!

Neat game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 42 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/YTqGyFG4tXA
This was really good! I'm not sure what else to say about it, but it felt very nice and was quite challenging. Very innovative as well! I just read a couple comments above two that you were continuing work on the game post-jam as well, glad to hear that!! Great job!!
This was a lot of fun to play! Very challenging. Thanks for sharing it with my stream awhile back! Here's a link to the vod https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297569760?t=14m49s
Really nice work man! A simple but addictive game! The UI has plenty of "juice," the score counting up, the text pulsating, screen fading in/out, fairly simple stuff to do probably but adds a lot. Great entry!
