I published by accident, ItchIO is now up :)
Fun game. You mentioned your not an artist but you did a very good job making the game look good. I noticed the boom box in the corner, I'm assuming your original plan was to have music playing? Nice job on your first LD!
@zachw136 Indeed it was, but with me not knowing where to start with it, i left it out for now, but thank you allot :D
Stressful gameXD good job. Good looking graaphic for 3d. Sometimes it's hard to pickup a box but for 48 hours it' brilliant! it fits the theme!
@swini Thank you very much! Yeah im not the happyest with the controls but im glad you had fun!
i test your game and that's a cool concept
Great job on your first LD! The game fits the theme well, and has some challenge in how fast you can give the boxes. The game also works well with only a few bugs (negative space left, etc). I think it still looks great even with the simple character and object models.
looks good judging by the cover
@shinysteel Thank you so much :D The article unashamedly was an accident! That's one bug I never saw unfortunately! but thank you so much!
Game looks interesting, but it's hard to understand without reading what you wrote on this page. It is kind of counterintuitive to have recycle boxes drop automatically while having to click to give the box to the customer. Picking one or the other, and writing this on the main screen next to the controlls would really help.
Once you know how to play, the game is quite fun, although the giving the box to the customer can sometimes be annoying as the range to do so is really small.
@jelbre I actually agree with you on all of your points. I didn't have enough time to correct them at the end though unfortunately. I would have definitely done things different control wise. The whole reason for the dropping into the recycler automatically is that before it was too difficult to rely on physics to do the work, I should have copied the same with the customers but was not a high priority. Thank you for the feedback and I totally agree on what you have to say. :)
Well this was interesting! I actually laughed the first time the boxes just flew out of the back, it was so unexpected. The game itself is pretty nice, simple controls and a clear goal. Sometimes people got angry while walking away with their boxes but nothing too game breaking happened. Good work!
Thank you for the feedback @syrapt0r! Yes, they still have the annoying effects while walking away but it does not affect your score :D Its something minor that never got changed in time! Thank you for your feedback and your time :D
PS: I'm glad I made you laugh :)
Pretty nice game! I really like the graphics; they might be a bit simple but work really well. The game is very relaxing, but also a bit repetitive. I stopped after level 2 because I began to feel a little bit bored. Maybe you could solve this by introducing some new mechanics after a while, like different boxes for different customers, and maybe building up pressure a bit faster. The controls could also be improved as you said; I think one button for picking up/dropping and walking would've worked better. It was not a big problem, though, and overall, the game was still fun and relaxing to play.
I liked how you could use a box to push other boxes towards the customers!
@florian-van-strien The timer decreases by 1 second after every level but I agree, After I got the main core systems in place, it would have been too dangerous to add more with the time I had left on the fear of not finishing in time. I agree it gets repetitive but I plan to continue development after this after the compo! thank you for your great feedback!
Very nice, good clean simple 3d graphics. The customers were quite funny. The game got repetitive after a little while, but whilst I played it was interesting.
@bigbosserndog Thank you! Yes, I went for the humorous direction eventually and I am happy with it. I tried to get core gameplay in, and by the time I had done that I had no time to continue making more things to do! I plan to expand in the future!
Cool game! But controls a bit hard to use.
Great busy game! Having no time to deal with blue boxes!
@serious07 Haha, Yeah sorry about that. Didn't have time to change the controls to something more thought about :(
@rainysolar Haha, Nah the blue boxes only serve as an extra annoyance and filling up more space as well as more score :D
Thank you both so much :)
I really adore the graphical style. Time management games seem like a challenging design problem because they're so easily overcomplicated with things to keep track of. Usually when I see these games expanded it tends to focus on characterization, like in Papers Please. In this case, there might be "a story in every box".
I actually like the simplicity of the graphics. Too bad there is no sound. It would have made it more fun. Well done.
Love the idea behind it! A little difficult to play on my laptop without a mouse attached but I managed! I could see this concept working really well with a controller. Co-op play could be interesting as well. I'm thinking along the lines of Overcooked! Really enjoyed it
@triplefox Thank you so much, yeah this concept may have been a bit of a handful for 48 hours, but I'm happy how it turned out! I tried to give the boxes a bit of personality with the "Fragile" after being thrown out of the box Door. Thank you for your feedback! :D
@hakro Yeah, I had no time to continue with sounds as I would have to learn how to make it :( Sorry for this
@kiotikid Yeah, Actually controller support sounds fun, maybe add a multiplayer feature! Great idea ill add this into the game later on as I plan to continue this after the compo :D Thank you so much for the feedback!
I really like the style of this, it reminds me of portal and the comics/safety people. I loved the people in the que, the feedback with the sweat and # symbols feels really nice and adds to the fun of it. Controls could be a bit tighter, felt like i was clicking back and forth in the same spots a bit too often. Well done.
@sharky3188 Thank you for the feedback, and yes i tried to mimic those styles after a while, the comical value is the main point of this project :D
The graphics in the game are pretty neat and while the controls are easy to understand i find them quite clunky, not being able to movement the way i wanted. The theme fits well and i see myself in the role of the people waiting annoyed in line. I dont know if postal workers are this clumsy like it is portraited in the game, but if that is the case it is probably why my packages take so long to arrive.
fairly simple yet addicting gameplay, i like the artwork style, simplistic dove, control also very simple and nothing wrong with it, but the gameplay feels repetitive fast and also it'll be awesome if theres more visual feedback when picking up the block, at first i thought i do something wrong and dont realize that i already picked up the box
Controls can be a little finicky but it's a cool game
The game looks very nice and gameplay is simple, but quite fun! Nice job)
One of the best I've played so far! Great job. Only downside is that it feels repetitive after some time.
nice and simple... button was confusing me, the controls could be improved... theme suits the game ... Audio could be better as well.
Awwwww, really wanted to try this... No Linux version...
Welcome to Ludum dare! Congrats on your first entry~ I don't have much to add, I guess, but here it is
Pros: - Nice graphics - Fun at start
Cons: - Becomes repetitive - Some of the UI I still don't quite get it
One thing I thought it was weird is that when the level restarts the space left resets but the all boxes stays. Is that intended?
Cheers!
@derek-volker I completely agree, The controller is well implemented, I hope to continue this game after LD so ill be fixing that :D
@ghen Thank you for your feedback! it means a lot!
@dangogamedev I agree, controls will be worked out post LD!
@erendelous Thank you :) All these comments are encouraging me to continue and work on the game. Thank you!
@virtu That is an amazing thing to hear! The repetitiveness is a major issue, and I agree. How would you think of making it less repetitive?
@nexusviper As I do not have One audio bone in my body, I didn't know where to start with audio. And didn't have the time to completely learn it!
@blinkenlights I want to get a Linux to build up, but I don't really understand the submission rules when it comes to adding other system builds after the deadline.
@nihilaleph Thank you very much, its been fun! The boxes don't seem to reset, not all of them anyway. they SHOULD look at my code. Its weird but I think the issue lies deeper than just in my box removal code. Thank you for your feedback though! I hope to fix all bugs and improve the controls and gameplay later on!
@devio Neither do I, but as long as you don't change anything that affects the game I don't see why not.
Very simple, yet effective graphics. The controls were a little confusing to grasp at the start, but once I got them it felt a little better. I still feel like the clicking to move felt too floaty since you're supposed to be moving to precise locations to pick up/drop off the boxes. That being said, the game looks great in it's simplicity. If you do update this game further, I'd suggest focusing most of your effort on the user input, and sticking with the super simple graphics!
Very cool idea, I liked the simplistic style of it. Got a lot of angry customers :(
The controls could really use some improvements. Have you thought about giving marker on the ground that makes it clear where the player will be going and end up facing? Also, indicating where to click to give the box to the customer would be nice.
Really cute game! I'd say I like the art style the best. I know you mentioned it, but the controls are a little finicky. Also, it seems either way too hard or I didn't quite understand what to do to keep more people happy. Overall, Lovely concept!
Took me a while to actually figure the controls even tho it was stated in the main menu. It's not clear what the radius for pickup up a box/giving a box to a customer is.
I think visuals in general could be improved. Visual cues would be a nice addition.
Other than that, it's quite cool and it's fun for a while, and pretty nice for a compo submission. Good job! :)
Really nice game The graphics are simple and delitful, the contols are smooth and nice Good luck🍀
This game was really fun! I enjoyed the portal alike theme and feel of the game and I found the controls to be simple and understandable. Besides that, I liked that the boxes would fall back from above if you dropped them off and that the customers would get grumpy if it took too long. I would, however, have liked for the boxes to be picked up simply by left-clicking them and for the delivery of boxes to be proximity based (just like the incinerator). Good game, well done!
Really liked the low poly art style and gameplay was fun.
Add some sound and some visual clues (Like making a box glow when hovering) and you have a great game. Had some trouble figuring out how to move boxes, but I had fun, great entry!
Hey there, your first entry for ludum dare is just fine! I had trouble to figuring out how to move the boxes, too like @hare-software. In your next game, try to focus not only on the gameplay but to improve the user experience. I've made that mistake in my third last entry for ludum dare.
Keep up working on your skills and i am sure it will turn into something great
The graphics are just WAY TOO GOOOD!!!
i LOVE DIS GAME
Super cute game! It took me a moment to realize the customers got upset if you gave them the blue boxes (to be recycled?), but yeah, fun times! I tried going into the back just for fun but alas I could not (would've been a fun easter egg ;). I think maybe if you could bump the boxes around with your little capsule body, that might've made things even more chaotic/fun! Anyway, great work!
Hey I really like the mechanic, everything feels very smooth, just that the graphics isnt very polished, but thats the only problem I have with the game. You also dont have to get very close to the box to get it. Not a bad entry, I look forward to seeing the post-jam version xD
Graphics are cool, mechanics are easy to understand. I love how polished is when the box are throw out from the doors. The low poly 3D added a style to the game. With more polish this game would be really nice!
The graphics are great, not so much of the players but the boxes just had a really nice look to them. Mechanics are really smooth and fun. Overall this game is really fun and I give it a 4.5 ;) Great entry and keep making great games :v:
On my first attempt, I couldn't figure out where to click when I wanted to give the package to a customer. Would've been nice if that point was more clear in the menu screen. The graphics are very solid and the mechanics work well, but I couldn't persuade myself to play the game very long. It felt too much like a chore to me. But overall, nice job!
Love the level design and the overall gameplay is simple and neat I enjoyed the game. Please do check out our game maybe you'll end up liking it.
This was a fun and funny idea. I like the premise you set up for why things are so frantic and how Dodger "gently" tosses you the parcels. The visuals look sleek and nice, the gameplay controls well and is fun. Good work!
Lookinga at the graphics, I would not have thought that this game was fun. Its a one click mechanic game well executed. The adranaline was high when multi-tasking despite the lack of audio. I felt like Iw as running out of space.
There were some issues with picking up objects were I had to be fairly specific with my clicking. I wouldve personally prefered keyboard/joypad controls myself but i also understand the compo time is limited.
An excellent effort !!!
For me it was not intuitive how I give box to the customer. Good work for first entry. U made it in compo time.
Ugh, I was so close to finishing level 3. :D 2 customers left, unsatisfied ones at 7/10, but 25+/30 overall boxes constantly, had to start throwing away all the boxes close to me instead of blue ones only.
I enjoyed it a lot! Boxed has a simple yet not simplistic game design core, which is really important for a jam game, and it's a finished product with several levels (and increasing difficulty) to tackle, so the scope was chosen well. There are some things that could be improved, but you're aware of those yourself (controls being the most important part imo) and in my book making such a game in just 48 hours all by yourself is awesome. Well done, hope to see more from you in the future!
