Not bad at all. Animations had to be sacrificed because of time restrains i gues but they graphics look great.

Good job,i enjoyed picking up trash and run away from rats :)

kale-the-quick 2018-08-14 23:33

@roidz try picking up the third sheet of paper on the table and trying to put it in the statue near the green crystals :D

This game is really nice and the graphics are pretty good

realmar 2018-08-15 10:53

For me there is too much text.

bismark 2018-08-15 11:06

Great job. The Golem brings a lot of help with the default code.

kale-the-quick 2018-08-15 11:35

@bismark Thank you! I wish I could have gotten in some nice tools, like syntax highlighting, but at least you can copy and paste into an external editor! lol

Found this on a stream. Interesting concept! I think you've done an excellent job for the time we had.

nam-nguyen 2018-08-15 14:36

You have a lot of things going on in the game, Emily is from magic school but she programs hehe  That will score humor for me haha. Anyway, the programming of the golem - I think you did a good job, but the input for user is a bit user-unfriendly, I think you are aware of that too. Idk if there is a perfect solution for programming in games, but text is probably the last thing to do, you want to hide away the code by abstracting it with colors and shapes, etc. Regarding the rest of the game, I like the design, although I find the terrain texture could be better. The stone texture needs more tiling so it looks smaller, now it looks like a giant floor tile. The changes in texture is a bit abrupt, like from stone to grass to dirts. Maybe you can make that more smooth. Otherwise I think it is a very nice game and Im all rooting for programming in game!!

@ryanjavanshir Thank you! I did the whole thing on a stream, in 25 hours because I had to leave early >.< @nam-nguyen If I make this into a whole game I really hope to get highlighting and stuff in there. I don't want to make it a pure visual scripting system, as there are other games like that already, and I am aiming to make this slightly more advanced than those. There was a game awhile ago where you made spells with Java code, so the idea was kinda like that, but with a magic golem :D I need to practice more with art. I know the ground is not the best but I was at the limit of my skill with the timeframe, lol. Thank you for checking out my game! If you can make a single script that does everything, let me know! lol

nam-nguyen 2018-08-15 16:29

@ryanjavanshir haha I don't think Im capable of that. But yeah regarding the programming in game, I thought of that too and I have an idea a long ago that I never had a chance to implement, but you can tell me how it sounds. So instead of letting the players build the whole program from scratch, I will make the algorithm with lots of parameters, and players' job is to tune those parameters to make it work. Can think of that as a simple reinforcement learning algorithm for example..

kale-the-quick 2018-08-15 18:16

@ryanjavanshir That sounds fun. At my old job we used evolutionary algorithms to alter parameters for creature generation (check out Darwin's Demons on steam) and that would be somewhat similar. It could be interesting if a game was built around exploring that possibility space.

Tried to play and rate but could not. No HTML or Mac version available.

Programming using paper. Sounds like stories about old basic programmers)

ursagames 2018-08-30 23:32

Really cool concept and it's very impressive how much was done in the time you had! A punchcard based system would have been cool too! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 3:05 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297885983
