The game was great! Love the progression and presentation. The main menu and the graphics are amazing! I felt as though it was too easy tho. On my first run, I unlocked the first 4 levels and upgraded my spaceman to have a jetpack and guns even though there was nothing to shoot. Also, the frame rate dipped after a long run. Best game I've played in the LD so far!

ksyne 2018-08-13 05:24

I love this game! There aren't enough endless runners out there anymore. Great presentation and art style, although the sounds were a bit out of place without some retro-style music! All-in-all, great game, 4 stars for you!

nehvis 2018-08-13 05:26

Cool game! Would have loved if the controls felt more in-space-líke though

rngsilvercraft 2018-08-13 05:29

This game looks GOOOOOOD.The gameplay and concept are pretty unique too.Aside from minor slowdowns, this is a nice runner.Again, good artwork.

rosden 2018-08-13 05:36

I enjoyed it solid entry. I do wish I got the guns earlier just because they were so fun to use :P.

teo-miklethun 2018-08-13 05:58

Amazing game all around. Your game is so good that I would be incredibly surprised if you didn't win anything. It's almost hard to believe how quickly you made something this impressive. That being said, some music would do wonders.

ephoria 2018-08-13 07:32

I like the idea of unlocking bonuses that pushes to want to continue. The design is very good. The background removes some charm to the game but it's only a detail !

Great game !

deformhead 2018-08-13 08:28

Very Good ! So much work here... Love the art.

ascension 2018-08-13 08:36

5,5,5 ! ALL 5! I can't believe it's a compo game . That's very interesting and completed.

drunkardwolf 2018-08-13 08:38

Very cute and fun. Some of the sounds got a bit annoying, but other than that its a good idea and was executed well. Especially love the art :) Great job!

holyblackcat 2018-08-13 08:39

Well that's addicting! I got to Jupiter, and probably would've continued if there were more upgrades after the guns.

The only thing I feel like was missing is a visual jetpack fuel indicator.

haustgeirr 2018-08-13 09:29

Very cute game. Love the heart/mine screen size changing. Couple of things I encountered - one I actually quite liked seeing the level appear at the leading edge of the camera, but I also encountered a game breaking bug. Dying on Venus I accidentally hit the 'enter' key on my numpad, closing the pause menu and forcing my to quit the game. Really liked the jetpack and some of map design. Nice!

mitsu-artemius 2018-08-13 09:38

@haustgeirr I am glad you liked it, and thanks for the bug report!

bovandenberg 2018-08-13 10:17

this game is gona win i'm sure.10/10

woubuc 2018-08-13 10:33

The sounds are a bit annoying imo but other than that really nice game, great use of the theme :)

falk-bruskeland 2018-08-13 11:21

Great game! It's awesome to unlock new powerups and planets!

pohko 2018-08-13 12:49

This is awesome, I will continue to play for sure. I love that it continues to change as you progress through the XP and planet levels. The zooming in and out really adds so much to the gameplay. Really great job, and I love the art so much!

eric-kulbiej 2018-08-13 13:17

Nice game, enjoyed it very much. Keep it up!

pranjalbisht 2018-08-13 13:51

Health = View was a cool idea. Although the progression felt a bit too slow, but that's to be expected from a compo game, balance/pacing issues and all. It kept me playing just to see what mechanic would be unlocked next. I'm not sure if there was any merit to playing the later, more difficult levels for unlocks, since stars can be obtained by grinding on Mercury. Do you get higher exp per star in later levels? All in all good job for 48h!

mitsu-artemius 2018-08-13 14:25

@pranjalbisht Thanks for the feedback! Yes, you get higher XP per star in later levels. I should probably have conveyed that somehow :)

peredom 2018-08-13 15:06

Nice game! The powerups are cool cause they give you a reason to keep playing. Also the new planets, but maybe if there were more variation with the planets (new enemies...) and more upgrades I would've played till the end. Btw, in Game Maker when you export you can hit "single time executable" and we wont have to install it, try to do that next time please :)

mitsu-artemius 2018-08-13 17:11

@peredom Thanks! I had planned to add more variation like monsters and such, but didn't have time. There is both an installer and a .zip with a .exe on the itch.io page. :)

bigbosserndog 2018-08-13 18:40

Looks nice, plays like classic auto-running platformers on mobile. Hoped it introduced features a bit more early on (like in the first level) so that people would give it a better chance. Running out of space comes it when you hit a wall, your view size decreases which I thought was a cool idea.

mike-inprinciple 2018-08-13 18:44

The game is very feature complete. There is progression, in levels, difficulty and mechanics as well. I thought the difficulty curve is a little harsh between the planets. The levels are rendomly stitched together from what looks like pre-made parts. Overall, a very complete game for a game jam.

nickthesic 2018-08-13 19:36

Really great game! I loved the art and feel. I liked that the hearts gave you more to see and taking damage made the area you can see smaller It was a really cool way to do damage and it worked well.

2018-08-13 20:41

Nice graphics, interesting game. I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 42 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/VOykmSuQEhg

ildfuglen 2018-08-13 20:51

Very cute graphics, solid entry! You can find the VOD of me playing it here: https://www.twitch.tv/ildfuglen at around 1 hour 40 minutes in

diptoman 2018-08-14 02:48

This is very cool! I got an impossible terrain just once but otherwise it went so well - and there is so much content for such a short time! I'm going back to play this later, great job!

(One minor thing - preferably just have a zip file and not an installer!)

velvetlobster 2018-08-14 03:48

Great runner! Seems like a good title for apple tv

mrerdalural 2018-08-14 12:34

Really nice level generation! I will make sure to check the code soon.

dr-monkfish 2018-08-14 15:35

Very cool game! I like the concept a lot. The idea that health is related to screen size is very neat. I liked the different levels and the progression system too. My only suggestions would be small things like, I would reverse the jump and shoot button, and I was kinda missing some BG music too. Also why isn't the mars level red? Good job!

sokuaisushi 2018-08-14 21:25

I liked the game a lot! I played all the levels until I unlocked them all. I was hoping for like a secret level or something though

Overall really good job, a couple things of note though: from Jupiter onward the names of the levels you unlock are offset by one (getting enough exp to unlock Saturn say's "Uranus unlocked"), then when you finally do unlock Neptune the game doesn't tell you. There is also some small tile displacement on some of the levels.

Again really great job on this project  it was a lot of fun to play through (but is really hard lol, I think Jupiter is the hardest level too).

kirb 2018-08-15 02:46

Fantastic job. Love the artwork and the concept. Would love to have bgm!

jasperarmstrong 2018-08-15 02:54

Nice, simple game. I liked the sense of progression and the game felt good to control. It would be nice if there was some music. Also, I don't know if this is out of your control with Game Maker, but it would be better if the game didn't make you install it.

bluemirror 2018-08-15 10:20

I like it a lot, just to easy to play. Or better to say, it takes to long. Getting to level 1 was good, but then it took sooo long to reach 2 and 3. I also didnt understand what I could do with the gun. I could shoot some bricks below me sometimes I guess. But it never was mandatory.

Art and sounds worked together well, it felt good to control the character. Well done, cheers

rebdc 2018-08-15 10:49

Great art, ok sound effects and pretty good gameplay. The progression is also really nice.

Now, I'm sure this was out of your control since you had such a limited time to work on the game, but more variety on the aesthetics of each planet would have been great, but i guess i should wait for after ld42 finishes for you update the game. Great job anyways.

troligtvis 2018-08-15 20:02

Awesome work ! :D

mitsu-artemius 2018-08-15 21:10

@sokuaisushi Thanks for the bug report and for playing through the whole game!

flyingrobot 2018-08-16 03:09

This is so cool. Great work.

nam-nguyen 2018-08-16 04:28

Very juicy jet packing animation, and the game is designed to slowly teach me how the control works too, I like it. A very cool platformer game with awesome art work and animations (jet packing, shooting). Very well done!

darkguardsman 2018-08-16 18:20

Nice simple game, good graphics, and nice audio. Didn't hear any music which I think would have made it great.

paulhocker 2018-08-17 04:57

really nice game here - liked the tie in with the theme - super job

alex-adedge 2018-08-17 15:13

A lot of great things about this entry! Fun to play, and I really appreciate the procedural generation, stopped the levels from getting boring and kept things challenging. And was nicely balanced!

And I came across the LD42 star pattern too, which was a cool easter egg :D

shell-pirate 2018-08-18 18:40

You have a solid foundation for a runner game here. I liked the aesthetic for the most part although I wished there was just a bit more variation in the tiles for each planet and there was some music. It's understandable, however, and the fact you managed to create something that feels like an actual game with progression and levels, as well as a clear beginning and ending point is a job well done in my book. I'd say work on game feel and ironing out other minor things (I could see the level being generated as I ran, I wished there was a meter for the jetpack so I knew how long I could fly for, I wished it was a bit faster and harder, things like that) Good work overall!

toboggan 2018-08-19 19:00

There's a lot of good stuff here! The art is solid, and the jetpack approach is fun. The heart/health relating to the camera zoom is a neat approach. Small bugs and kinks aside, i really enjoyed this. :)
