I really like the way the boss slowly takes up the screen. It's a nice but simple twist I wouldn't have thought of. It reminds me of a certain Undertale boss.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD42 → Space Intruder

"Maj : Slow Motion" ? What is Maj? I pressed Shift and it worked, but maybe you should add "Shift" to the controls in the description? Anyway, the game is pretty nice and challenging. Graphics seem good. Audio is nice, but not very fitting to the game - too chill for that bullet hell :D Having lots of drops too, pretty cool. Good job! :)
Hey, there are lots of interresting mecanisms, and I really adore the way the monster grows. Simple yet efficient. A find the dash really difficult to use.
I've died twice with 400 score hahahaha, fun game :)
Oh yeah, Maj is the french version of shift, i made a mistake here :p
I really like the Idea of the game! Highscore 400 @vfabien21 . Overall nice Game well is done!
nice game
Is this Dark Souls?
Well executed and game accelerates quickly. Played a few times as the green monster started to grow larger. Music sounds good as well as the game play. Great execution team!
Very nice game! Best "bullet hell" like game i ever played :)
This was a fun little bullet hell game. Probably the second I ever played. The controls were responsive and quick, very nice. Took me a moment to realize the boss was the green thing at the top of the screen, lol. The iteration speed was probably the best part. A couple of times I pressed R and started again without even thinking, like it was just another level. Which is very good! The graphics were hard to see. The contrast between brown and green is not very high, and the bits of transparency inside the projectiles did not help. This made them tougher to see and manage from peripheral vision. The on off blinking of the boss was also somewhat distracting. I think it could stand to start a bit slower. The initial firing and enemy tempo is quite high, but manageable. Overall it was nice. I enjoyed it. :)
Nice first LD! I really enjoyed this game, I got 288. One suggestion I have is maybe adding like a 3 second timer or something at the beginning so you're not immediately fired on. Other than that I really like this game!
Yup, Graphic is not my best xD, but compo is a challenge when you do everything by yourself so i had to try something ^^
Really great job! I love your take on the theme with the boss and the chaos of the gameplay. Most of the mechanics feel smooth and responsive and the music fits really well. For me, the graphics didn't do a lot (but at the end of the day, that doesn't matter much), and the dash felt a little too suicidal. That said, the slow mo effect completely won me over! Really, really cool.
This game is hard, yet I managed to beat it (score: 470). It's easier when you split a game in two phases: the first one when you build your stuff up, without shooting the boss, and the second one when you shoot at the boss like there was no tomorrow. You really feel you're running out of space, and I kinda like the music, imo it adds a sense of despair while having a plant growing and taking all your space. The only downside I can find, is that the dash is hard to use. Maybe the graphic could be a bit better, but they are coherent, so it doesn't matter that much
@trocentraisin Yeah i got a friend who did that strategy ^^, it's good to win like that because it's not the usual way to beat bullet hell games ( because i wanted to let you the possibility to do your own stategy )
@doey Slow mo + Dash is even better :)
Wow this is a very creative idea, I don't think i've seen anything with this same idea at least not in this competition. Very fun and challenging.
A fun little shooter, not really good at it because of the control, but I have managed to get 213 points at the 3rd try, half your score hehe :D. I think the tutorial looks a bit busy, and there are things that I don't necessarily have access to in the beginning so you can separate them and display them when they are accessible (boosts, etc). Great job putting it all together!
Btw, I think the character deserves a bit better design rather than an ellipse with an X in the middle  - so that it matches with the level of art work put on other stuffs in the game
This is really cool. You have different enemies and bullets, blood splatters and the boss changes shape and fits into the theme. It's really impressive that you have done all this in 48 hours. The game is fun and makes me want to keep playing it. I wish the intro screen would look a bit nicer, a black border on red text will make it easier to read.
This game is well done. And "slow-mo" looks like a killer-feature of this ludum :)
And I'm glad that the participants made a lot of such games. I have a similar game XD
Nice game, but think about adding better sound and visual effects to your game, it would make it much more fun!

I’ve died twice with 320 score, nice game !!
First let me say how much I enjoyed the music for this game, it really added to the experience. The gameplay is solidly executed even if a bullet hell top down shooter isn't the most original idea out there. Where this game falls down is in the graphical department, simple things like making sure that your player character doesn't blend in with the background assets, selecting an interesting (but legible!) font would help improve the UI, and just 'juicing' everything up to help ground the player in the world by making every input felt in some way. You've already got some of that going on here, but even more would really improve things in future. I would also add that you probably could afford to cut back on some of the mechanics for a jam game, there were a bunch of upgrades that never really got their chance to shine in the five minutes I spent playing your game. Keeping your game scope small, and giving it that extra level of polish is what helps make your game stand out from the crowd. You clearly understand how to make a function and fun game, and I hope to see you back for the next jam!
The graphics arent much but are enough, The gameplay itself is enough to be fun and I really like these types of games. You could have made, that when you get hit, the bomb will activate, so you have enough time to get back to action. got score 407. 4/5
fun game, pretty straightforward but it sucks you in until you manage to beat it. incredibly hard btw, graphics could use a bit more love. sound was excellent!
@historymaker118 I don't know if I can use a different font ( except for one I create and the "default arial" that I used cause I don't know how to create font xD ) in the compo mode. But yeah, UI doesn't look nice and I agree that I really need to improve my art skill ( or find an artist for a jam mode ). I 'm thankful for what you think about the music, I really want to focus on this part in my games cause I think it's often neglected in videogames ( which is sad ) I'll be back for the next game, and with these feedback, i know on what to focus :)
Pretty fun! Definitely applied the theme well to a top down shooter. The music was kind of nice. Good sound effects and art. The bomb animation I especially liked. Nice work!
At first I didn't really had my hopes up because of the graphics and a "busy" tutorial screen, but I have to say that as soon as I started playing it I really got hooked! Super fun, challenging, and I also really liked how the boss was the entity that filled out the space, bumping up the difficulty just by keep on growing. Great job!:)
Solid entry. I liked the music a lot. Not much to add to the above comments. Well done.
Very fun game. I liked the graphics a little bit. Home sweet homer.
@lonehearts Really fun and entertaining game u got there but it would have been a far better entry if the graphics were also as great as the gameplay. Also don't forget to play and rate our game too.
When the game first started up i was a little concerned with what I was getting myself into, that start menu is a bit rough, but I was pleasantly surprised when I started playing the game itself. It took a few goes before I really grasped the controls, i don't think i ever mastered them.
My inability to master the dash I think was my downfall. I think the dash ability would be more useful if it dashed in the direction of travel instead of towards mouse.. since there didn't seem to be any reason not to be shooting I was always shooting at the boss, and so my cursor was always in his direction, meaning when i dash I would have to quick flick the mouse to where I wanted to go, and I never quite made it where I had intended. if the dash was instead based off my wasd i could have been much more exact and strategic with it.
I liked the power ups. One of the first things I saw was the boots and in that instant I thought I was going to be collecting gear which got me super excited. They ended up being non permanent upgrades, I would have liked it if they stacked... I envisioned the gear being applied to my little character, his appearance and stats changing...
The boss growing and taking up space changed the game quite a bit, not only was i now more limited in where I could go but my target was also easier to hit.
Overall it was harder than I would have liked, at least to start, but I enjoyed the game and spent more time in it than most of the others. It was oozing potential...Thanks for making it!
Oh and I enjoyed the music, im assuming its in house as this is a comp game. it was pleasant and helped draw me in.
fun game. I would have enjoyed it more with a mouse instead of a touchpad.
@acuriosity thanks for the review :D I'll focus on training my art skill for the next LD, and so have a more appealing start menu x) I chose to direct the dash with the cursor because you need a bit of skill ( and i think it's more precise ), and it works really well with the slow motion, you also have to choose between dashing (protect yourself) and shoot the boss (which in the last phase is better). Only the "dual wielding" ( and i just noticed that i misspell this word xD ) is temporary, boots and the thing who is supposed to look like a bullet ( dmg up ) is permanent ( well, until you died :p ) I prefer permanent buff too, but it's true i should have make some visual effect on the character to show that he change And yeah, i like hard game, so i won't change that point :p. ( and it's like a challenge, you don't want to quit until you beat the boss ^^ ) The music is home made ( like everything else, and that's why graphics are atrocious xD ), i appreciate that you liked it :) i really want to focus on music for the game i make.
@dominic-graziano yup, the game wasn't made for touchpad ^^', i should have put a alternative way to shoot and dash ( without left and right click )
I loved your game because it's very simple and at the same time it's very funny! Great Job
