Nice visuals! I like the looming tower in the distance and all the ships racing towards it. Gets a bit chaotic at times. My main crit would be that it felt a bit slow for a race. Having the tower bigger/further away and making everyone 2x-5x faster would have been cool!
Sorry, can't play without a Linux version :(
Nice entry, didn't expect to be like a third person schmup ! Too bad you didn't had the time to use the space left aboard as a real mechanic. And I have to admit, like Alex, that's it felt a little slow. But hey, it's a compo, and the overall work is really impressive !
PS: last Ludum, when I saw your game, I realized I should try to be more personnal during jams, to think about expressing myself rather than only finding a cool mechanic. That's what I tried this week-end, I really loved it and I have to thank you for that ;)
@blinkenlights again I have failed you! I have until the next LD to figure out how to make a linux version. I will make that one of my goals for next time :)
@amour-du-pain The space left aboard is actually a mechanic linked to the ships... if they get past you, the spaces disappear quicker but I don't think I did a very good job of communicating that :) And Thank you for your kind comment! I am really glad you have put something personal into your game. I am on my way there to play it now! :)
@alex-adedge Thank you! yes, I had planned to balance the timing and get it all sorted out but the blueprints were a mess by the end of the 48 hours, so kinda made a mistake there :)
@designernap Hahahahahaha, indeed, you shall be rewarded for your success ;)
solid compo entry! graphics, audio and mood fit together quite nicely. The speed of the ships could be a little faster to get that "gotta hurry"-feeling, but other than that the mechanic is really fun.

A good job you did here. In my own i just dislike the fact that the game is a lil slow in the action. But graphics are good and ambiance is here. Keep it up pal !

Nice play on the title, only realized that after the ending cutscene haha. I really like how serene the atmosphere is with the other ships and obstacles acting as the chaotic agents in the mix. I actually preferred the slower game play as it seemed to mesh better with the world, though I was confused as to why hitting anything was an insta-kill? Great experience regardless :)
Thanks @awesomealliterationalliance and @randdir and yes, lots of people agree. Next time I will spend longer on balancing or at least make a game that is easier to balance :id: @somuch Thanks for playing! Most people react badly to the slowness so I am glad you enjoyed it :)
Nice game! Really cool and interesting! :D
Hey I think this is a very promising entry. I like the battle, at first I keep asking why can't I turn to the side to shoot because I get a lot of bullets coming from the side but its very tricky to get behind the low enemies to shoot them, there is a chance that another enemy will come from behind and crash me. However when I type this comment then I get that if you would let players control the mouse, the arrow key will probably need to be mapped to that, then you wouldnt be going straight to the tower anymore. So what about a little dangerous icon flashing when there is an enemy coming from behind, then there wouldnt be any risk that I die of enemies crashing from behind. Just a little comment, otherwise I think the game has a pretty solid foundation, a bit more polishing would do wonder. Great work!
Nice concept, very innovative implementation of the theme, nice graphics and audio, congratulations, keep it up!
I liked this one a lot, it was a good interpretation of the theme and a well-realized concept. The world was very well fleshed out and I liked the pun in the title.
The graphics seemed just under the perfect polish level, and the controls were a little slow. I also wasn't able to figure out how to kill the bombers.
I gave this one a 3.5/5, mostly because I feel like more features could have made the gameplay more exciting, and the audio, while fitting, wasn't among the best audio I've heard.
I do understand that you only get 48 hours, though, and what is here is very promising. Good job!

Really cool atmosphere, though the gameplay needs some more work. Enemies go through obstacles whereas these one kill us in the instant, also you can't change the height of your cannon (you move only to left and right so up and down arrows could be used for that). Also it takes a while to kill a low enemy so you can really focus only on one if you don't want to let it go, and meanwhile you have to avoid the missiles of the other enemies that you won't be able to kill.
Thanks everyone for playing! @cristihkj glad you enjoyed it! @nam-nguyen Yeah, from play testing it after the Jam I created exactly that! a warning icon that flashes! But I didn't want to upload and share that as when I add post-jam entries it sometimes confuses people as to which version they should review. Rules state bug fixes only and no new features so I thought it best not to.
@daniel-rincon Thanks for playing!
@samusoidal and @nyri0 .. you kill the bombers with the charges - A button on game pad or F on keyboard. I listed those controls above but I understand they should have been in the game. A lot of people have said the same so don't feel bad about not finding it. The splashes from the charges hit and down the bombers :)

@designernap yes I figured out how to kill the bombers but there's no way to adjust the height of the shot, right? I know that's some more work and time's limited, but I'm just giving ideas for improvements ;)
Without adjustable angle, you have to wait for the enemy to be at the right position to shoot.
@nyri0 AAAh my bad! Sorry! :) I read the "enemies you wont be able to kill" and misunderstood. Thank you :)

@designernap yes sorry by "enemies you won't be able to kill" I meant that you lack time to kill all enemies because it takes a while to reduce their HP.
@designernap I see now! I thought I had to hit the bombers with the shells.

I really like how all the ships streaming by towards the tower gives a sense of narrative. The minimal visuals are well done and the music is nice. The cutscene at the end is a nice touch.

Surely one of the best entries I have seen in this Ludum Dare so far. You really built a world and ambience. The music is really great, and loved the menu and the end of the game. Maybe it would have been better to put a reminder of the controls in the beginning or to make a really short tutorial level.
Thank you @antonin and @mrjorts! There were a lot of things I wanted to get into this and just ran out of time completely! I will make a post-compo version I think with some of these fixes and suggestions as the game has been so well received. Honestly I barely finished it before the deadline so I am just happy it is being enjoyed :)
They left without me!? Why would the leave without me :o I love that you made a cutscene for this!
Really nice game, I didn't spot any space tea though! Your boat is a little slow, but at the same time I feel this makes the game more tense! I had absolutely no luck taking out the ships above me, though I gave the bounty hunters some hell! Really liked how the gun would shoot faster as you held it down, to make it more brutal would have loved to have had an overheat on the weapon.
Lovely chilled out music too, super fancy looking main menu too!

I love the mood that you create with the perspective and the colors, everybody racing towards the ship. It implicitly tells its story, I like that. Gameplay felt a bit unfinished, as the other comments pointed out already, but was not unpleasant in any way. I think raising the speed of the boats (or just making everything seem faster) would benefit the feel of the game. More, less bulletspongy enemies could raise the tempo, too.
A very well done compo entry.

Great models and graphics. For me the game is a bit slow though and the enemies have too much HP. I would decrease the HP and add more enemies instead. Great music!
Loved the entry! As someone else said, I wish it appeared faster giving it more urgency to the situation. Other than that it was a great game and a solid entry. Never disappointing Napper

Interesting game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 42 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/WOSoM8jnjZc
