That was one of my favorite games so far! I really love how the full mouse gameplay, but the sound effects and art are my favorite part.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD46 → Curie

Definitely a solid shooter. I wish you would have done more with the radiation though - it's literally an AoE attack that you have to use periodically that gets a little bigger the longer you wait. It might be pretty cool if your standard attacks got more powerful the higher your radiation is.
It's hard to explain, but something about it just feels right. Movement and shooting are really smooth and a pleasure to play with. I did find it to be quite easy, and only died in the end because I wanted to see what happened if I let the radiation meter fill up completely.
Feels really snappy, smooth, and polished in terms of controls. Really like all the other gameplay elements as well. Really good first entry! Really good job!
The 16-bit style oscilloscope gieger counter sounds fit your game's theme very well. The enemy spawning sound got a little repetitive, maybe it could be quieter or cycle between a few different sounds.
Nice work! I like a lot of the little touches that went into this game - the animations on the main menu, the sound effect that warns you about your radiation level, the pushback when you shoot an enemy, that kind of stuff.
I was surprised that full radiation is an instant game over, as opposed to losing a life (when touching an enemy or getting shot). Though it's not necessarily a bad thing.
I felt like being able to shoot the enemy's shots made the game easier than intended, as I was able to just proactively shoot in the direction of every spawning enemy. But maybe if I let myself fall behind, it'd be really rough!
I liked some non-trivial things the player can do here, like protecting yourself from missiles with a large radiation release, or maneuvering between enemies to make them shoot each other. The radiation release visuals are very cool as well! On the flip side, with only single types of enemies (maybe there were more later, but I didn't see any after ~2 minutes) and no goal beyond surviving longer / killing more enemies, I got bored pretty quickly. Also, I think I managed to get beyond the screen borders once (possibly during a radiational release), but I couldn't reproduce it, so maybe I was just blind :)
I don't quite get the radiation release mecanic.
I felt like more enemies are neede in addition to having more of them on screen. After more than two minutes I felt quite bored.
Good job, keep going with learning, very successful beginning.
Good job, it was a fun and somewhat hard game! But I also don't quite get the radiation mecanics.
Wow 2 weeks experience and you entered a LD compo??! That's really great!!. As for the game, sound might be a bit to repetitive, but that happens since it's the compo and polishing sound is priority -1000. The main issue I found was that I didn't knew how to release radiation (couldn't find the controls anywhere, maybe add them to the itch page). I figured it out quickly but it'd be cool to have it somewhere. Great job!! Keep on making games, you're on the right track!!
Thank you for all your great feed backs. I'm still in high school and soon to graduate(I hope I could graduate lol) and I wish to pursue a course in Computer Science. I never had my own computer so when my parents bought me one, I literally installed all the software I would need. It's not the best but I was happy. I'm studying at a science high school so I wanted to make a game with some concepts in science(though atoms don't really shoot atoms and emit radiation to block other atoms lol). I hesitated on joining this event at first. I got scared. What if I'm not good enough? What if they think it's bad? I don't know how to make sprites, I lack music talent, I was downing myself before the event even started. I'm glad I joined. Thank you for all your comments. Thank you for playing the game. It's not the best game in the world, and that's okay. As long as one person enjoyed it, I'm happy and knowing a lot of you liked it fills me with joy . I will keep on improving my skills and keep on making amazing games.
Simple but effective arcade shooter. Took me a couple games to realise I needed to release radiation but I think that's my fault for not paying attention to the big glowing DANGER sign. Lack of variety in enemies makes gameplay become repetetive quickly but that's not to say I didn't enjoy it.
Very impressive for your first game - keep it up!
@tupto @onesvenus yea, I didn't have any more ideas for enemies for the game. I planned to have three enemy types for the game but I could only come up with two, Followers and Shooters. If you could give me more enemy types, I would really appreciate it. I plan to improve the game and make it playable on mobile. I could also make the danger sign more noticeable by adding some effects on the screen. Thank you for the comment, and thank you for enjoying the game
@dlc-scar well my first idea was just a big atom that spews protons out in multiple directions. You could also make enemies that emit different types of projectile based on the 3 types of radiation
Good entry, especially considering your experience. The sounds get a little bit grating after a while and somehow I managed to tunnel through the arena border, but apart from that you got a nice game here :)
@ghostonline thank you for the feedback. At which part of arena were you able to pass through and how? I plan to improve this game, maybe make it a roguelike dungeon.
@dlc-scar It was the bottom part while I was firing at some chasing enemies. It could very well an unfortunate old-fashioned collision party. Just to give some (unsollicited :P) advice: if you did not do this already, I would suggest setting the collision detection on the player to 'continuous' (is set to 'discrete' by default in Unity) and, unless your game depends on it, do not let other enemies have collision responses with the player, but using triggers only. Good luck with the improvements!
Simple and charming! I believe you didn't have much time to work on the music and that is normal, but it is something that would surely improve the experience as the game takes longer. Also, I loved the difficulty progression.
The music is awesome and love and is really juicy. Movely really smooth and responsive.
Great job! I finally got around to start testing LD games, sorry for the delay =) Congrats on your first LD entry and for finishing it! It feels very complete with a menu screen, options, and a cool UI - that's usually stuff that has to be sacrificed =) Like the retro look, feel, and sound. I also thought it was good with the radiation twist on the survival game. Great job!
