Fun! Although the cloud mode was extremely easy. Graphics seemed a bit rushed. Otherwise fun and fitting to the theme.

I actually found your game because mine has the same name. The premise is also the same. The playstyle, however, is different.

Nice idea, but the second and third modes are too easy. The first one is well balenced. The art is not really good and it lacks music. Maybe different types of clouds could be make the game better ? Or something to break this monotony. Overall good entry though.

TheLukker & Mathiouza, my art is basically made pretty fast with Paint.net. I'm not an expert at Photoshop, sadly.

Easy to get right into and I thought the difficulty level felt balanced. I managed to achieve 38, not sure if that's good or bad =) The concept reminds me of the very first computer game I ever tried which was on a text only mainframe machine (the size of a room) which was at my dad's workplace. You had to shoot boats from the bottom of the ocean and it was very similar mechanics but using console text characters =) Nice work with your entry!

Interesting concept and easy to figure out. Even though my favorite is Classic, I enjoyed having multiple game modes. Nice work!

@nnnikki Wow!

I liked:

The Gameplay: It was innovative, had multiple game modes, and was ultimately fun. It's a lot to ask for 2 of the 3 things for a Ludum Dare entry, yet you had all 3! Very good job on the gameplay!

The Sound: The background music was pretty good, and I liked the sound effects. Especially the rain helped set the mood.

I didn't like:

The Graphics: It's not that the graphics were bad, but you had pixel art clouds and catchers, but the background was a sort of cartoony and more complex looking. It didn't seem to fit well together. I would have liked to have seen a more consistent art style.

Overall, your gameplay rocks! Good luck!

Nice game ! What I liked a lot that there is mods ! The graphics was nice but could be better.

tomdeal 2017-08-16 11:01

Interesting idea, and even multiple game modes. I like the classic one, because the cloud mode is a bit boring after a few rounds. Nice entry.

neowhoru 2017-08-16 11:27

Gameplay is good but graphics could be better.

sumgamstudio 2017-08-16 18:10

I can't play and rate this game because I have Linux.

jondalnas 2017-08-16 19:48

The games focus is spread over three different game modes, instead of focusing on a single one. The classic mode is a great amount of fun and the rain sound FX are good and atmospheric

nnnikki 2017-08-17 09:38

@sumgamstudio I dunno how to make the Linux version on GameMaker: Studio 2... so yeah.

reuh 2017-08-17 15:52

Nice gameplay and idea, and you even managed to put 3 game modes! I though the graphics were OK. Good work!

@sumgamstudio works fine with Wine.

tjakka5 2017-08-17 18:01

No way to play it from the zipped file

nnnikki 2017-08-18 20:10

@tjakka I changed it so that the Thunderstorm.zip is the game, and Sourcecode.zip is the source code.

** What I liked **

__ + __ Gameplay, variety __ + __ Music

** What imo could be improved **

__ - __ Graphics get the job done but can be improved __ - __ Bugs / balance : in catch mode the power never fills up, cloud mode is too easy : I stopped when i got bored. Classic mode is pretty good

** Overall **

Nice entry, I had fun playing ! Thanks for the game =)

There were a lot of game modes and options available here, which was unexpected. It seems like you had a lot of different takes on the "space invaders" model and they all worked quite well. I found the catch variant a little difficult to play, as the power pylon didn't quite move fast enough. I also dig that you added an installer for the game (especially as the zip seemed corrupt?), that's a nice touch. Overall I think the game is pretty polished, and you obviously made good use of the time available. I'd have left the music on by default, it adds a nice little tune!
